Belated Happy Anniversary wishes to Harriet & HRH!

It's chilly here & I've been craving some hot, homemade chili & cornbread with butter & honey. I think I have all the ingredients in the house -- I'll check after lunch. That would make a good meal for tomorrow. I picked up a huge bag of red, green, orange & yellow peppers at the farmers market last week with chili in mind. It was only $4.00 for the whole bag -- so much cheaper than the grocery store.

Dh & I wrangled both ddog & dcat to the vet for their vaccines this morning in the pouring rain. Ddog loves riding in the car but dcat does not & was very vocal about his unhappiness.

Elizabeth, what a wonderful VIP concert experience for you & dd! So cool. Congrats again on your new job. How are you liking it?

Sometime today I must go through my emails. I'm closing in on 250 & that really bugs me. I'm sure there are a bunch I can just delete. I also have to put clean sheets on the bed & fresh towels out, & wash the old ones. House cleaning is otherwise caught up & even hot spots are under control. Woohoo!

Lets see, Blessed, what can I do today that will make next week easier? (Great question -- thanks for making me think ahead ) I know -- if I clear off the attic steps it will be easier (& safer) to bring Christmas decoration boxes down. That may actually happen this Friday or Saturday, since I usually start decorating the day after Thanksgiving & T-day is a week later than usual this year. Aaaaack! It is coming so fast. I need to add "take down fall decorations" to my list because I like a clean slate for several days before decorating for another season.

I'm thinking I better cuop and post while I can. The weather was sunny and nice this a.m. at 8 o'clock and has changed quickly. I hear occasional thunder and we have a tornado watch 'till 8 pm.

Just saw your Harriet..... Ddil is feeling less than comfortable with her last? class (with multi assignments) before student teaching assignment. She posted on FB for ideas from her teacher friends on an assignment to write a lesson plan teaching a spelling rule and an exception to it. Her choice, a hard one, is "when 2 vowels go walking the 1st one does the talking". She knows the exceptions, but needs to explain how to teach it. So I guess this semester's class is language arts based. She is finding the same as your ddil that it is not always easy to take care of home and family and work full time, except that ddil is not expecting on top of it all! Best of luck to your ddil!

Helia.... Best wishes for Pepper. I know how worrying it can be with our pets. Last visit to our vet he told us our Blondie should have a procedure that could cost around $600. She is 11 1/2 years old now.

Dee: I'm in Toronto.

Back from the museum, not because we were done but because we were tired. I had no idea how tired I was until I just sat down. It is raining but I'll go out for a walk in a little bit and stretch my legs. Despite walking to/from the museum and walking around inside for 2.5 hours, I've only gone 5200 steps today.

But first I need to pick a to-do item and do it.

I have been delaying going out but will do so after I finish this cup of coffee. Will put on the long winter coat and a hat.

Just received an invitation from DSis for Thanksgiving Day. That means I'm going to Sam's today instead of sticking close to home. (Specific items needed from Sam's for our contribution to the pot luck meal.) I can get some cash back from them and avoid a stop at the ATM.

The longer run will be better for my car's battery as well.

Sometimes my Mondays are broken..... and on to more cheery subjects..

Hello! Sunday we worked again, moving a truck and stopping to offload heavy returns... 6 sheets of drywall dH drove all across the county to purchase and take to far away job for sub who knew he was going to need them and then didn't...

And then on to membership meeting at church...

And today I got the last of those papers from 2 different sources, and took them to county. County lady - sheesh, she said she didn't know what to do with them, they might have to go to another couple departments first. NO THEY DON'T, THAT HAD ALL BEEN DONE AND THEN YOU LOST THEM. DH was just disgusted about it all when I told him what she said... so I have no further assurances that they will ever fix all this.

I have evidence of all departments in our county having really bad attitudes. Every department we have to work with. They love charging and fining and stopping people if they find one thing done wrong...but when THEY err they tend to blame everybody else and every other department. The girls were all in a tizzy today because they were 2 short.

Weather is goofy here. Sunny's bad weather is drifting into our area also. However, my new clock/temp sensor arrived Sat. and we fixed it last night and it tells me we are 80° right now and I can feel the humidity is up... I wonder if the cold is seeping down here. We were 87° earlier.

Paid taxes at co office. Stopped at bank. Returned something to store.
I have a headache, it is my ears which are clogged from cool air hitting them and starting up my allergy problems...so I'm going off to take a painkiller and lay down. Nothing in the house done but kitchen chores..

I finally got through those four tasks - also did a few other things along the way (unclogged the shower drain!) and relaxed some too. I am putting our gas fire on and going to read now.

Treated the drains gathered eggs & fed hens.
Kit. Counter spiff done.

I kinda like Mondays, too, blessed... I love fresh starts... (I guess b/c by the end of the week I'm always so far behind I NEED a fresh start so badly? -- Oh well, let's be honest, by TUESDAY I always feel like I'm falling behind. )

But today, I feel great.
I've been to my retired teacher's luncheon, stopped by our church to loan book to dfriend who has an office there (she works with abused family resource groups), AND stopped by the local library and got a couple of books. (I had recently realized that not only would I make better use of my household space, I would also make better use of my $$ if I would start using the library more and quit using A mazon so much!)

Home, paid credit card bill, put sheets and underwear in the washer.
As soon as dh is s2s, we will make our Wmart run, and then we're keeping dgs tonight while ds & ddil go out for dinner and a movie. (They've been trying to do this for about three weeks, since ds's birthday.)

Elizabeth -- WOW! I wanted to tell you that was a fantastic girls' night out!!! I am partly so glad you had such a great experience just b/c that was great karma for the lady who was so rude to you and dd! But I'm mostly glad b/c it was such a great experience for you and dd to share, and it will be a memory that will last a lifetime.

Ugh... just checking our temps... says it's 37/"feels like" 28. At least the sun is shining here, too. Low of 22 predicted tonight. Then it should start warming up a little for us. Says it will be 62 in college town for game Saturday, but I'm still glad dgs and I will be watching on tv. It's a night game and it will be back into the 40s before it's over. I do not enjoy winter! Why can't people just hibernate like bears? I would be so happy to just curl up in my afghan with books beside me for about the next 4 months.

Speaking of Thanksgiving plans, I'm wondering if I should invite dbil to our family gathering at my daunt's. I know she would not care at all... and everyone would be nice to him... but our dinners are always sooo.... chaotic/casual... compared to what we've always done w/dmil and at dbil's house when they hosted it... so I don't know if he'd feel uncomfortable with us, or what. Plus, I fear as soon as I issue the invitation, I will immediately go into panic attack mode and wish I hadn't. It's been a long time since I've had that cold sweat/hot flash/nauseated feeling. Why bring it on again for no reason?
Besides, dbil might join dniece w/xdsisil's family. After all, he and his xdbil just spent the weekend w/dniece and went to ballgame together.
Plus, dbil has a close friend who for the most part raised three boys as a single father. The friend is married now, but his house has always had sorta an open invitation to his friends and his sons' friends, so I'd be very surprised if he hasn't already invited dbil over. (They have another mutual friend, never-married man, who has probably eaten as many meals at the friend's house as he has at his own mother's, LOL.)
It would be easier if ds/ddil would be here, but they won't so the burden of making him feel at home would fall on dh... who says go ahead and ask him b/c there's no way in the world he would accept, LOL.
Anyway, I will probably ask daunt if I should invite him, but wait until at least next Monday to make any mention of it to him -- if I do at all.

But, BookSaver made me think of Thanksgiving plans, and I probably should get cookie dough and pecans today in case they are harder to find next week.

Dove, we have 528 emails in our inbox. * shaking my head * A lot of them could be deleted, but dh is so crazy he doesn't want to delete anything he might ever, in some strange circumstance, need or want to read again.

Sunny, we had some thunder last night, and I saw that parts of Florida were under severe weather warnings! Stay safe!

WTG to HRH for beginning the children's gift purchases... but you are so right, Harriet... children's gifts are sooo much easier than adult gifts!
