I've been out in the cold this morning - 8:30 breakfast meeting downtown - done there a little past 10, then had to gas up the car in the cold, go to Walmart for a new breadmaker and a few groceries, and then to Whole Foods for a dessert. I'm taking dinner to the newest neighbor with a baby tonight - lasagne from freezer is thawing but not very fast. Bread is underway in new breadmaker - it is the same model as the old except about 20 years younger so I'm hoping it comes out well.
(Last Friday when I tried to start the breadmaker it was a no go - the thingie on the bottom that mixes it would not budge and seems "seized up." I had dh bring home P ublix challah instead.)
I did parts of a.m. routine earlier but not all... need to get going again. Need to walk ddogs, too.
-start a lol
-refill meds/vitamin containers and take today's vitamins etc. (took the one med earlier)
-put the old breadmaker into the garbage if it's not picked up yet
-start a lol
-make the bed
I hope I can hold the ddogs' walk off until after this round - let the day "warm" up a little more. (Okay, temp is 30 going for a high of 32...won't warm up that much more but I'm not ready to bundle up and walk them yet.)

Re: Layering Tuesday
Hello Dear Ladies,
COLD here too. Well for us it feels COLD. Our boss at work was so nice she got us a little heater for the fitting room. The lady that works before me at fitting room put it on the floor and promptly fell over it.
Not good, she is 86 and doesn't need to fall. So I put it on top of the desk and it became a hand warmer for me and all who stop by.
Had to fend lots of phone calls over Amazon price matching. Our manager chose not to participate in it and so had lots of calls especially from this one lady who wanted to buy pop for a penny. Of course Amazon charges shipping and the manager explained that to be totally fair then WM would have to charge a shipping charge too, just to much figuring for our cashiers. And with the shipping charges it would end up being more than our everyday low price.
Yesterday was tied up with furniture shopping. Didn't start out that way. DH said he was thinking of getting a futon to replace our very worn out couch. So we went to WM, brought it home and two sons put it together. Tried sitting on it but said it was to low for them, felt like a child's couch to them. So take it apart, back in the box, back to WM to return. Stopped at another store that sells some furniture here in our little town but they didn't have anything either. DH said he wanted to go to Tulsa to buy a couch. I told him to go with one of the Dsons, I wanted to stay home and work on laundry. They knew what would work for us. Ended up buying whole new set. A recliner couch and two game chair recliners for he and me. Our chairs have electric button to raise the foot rest up and tilt the back.
I wouldn't have spent so much, considering we just wanted a cheap couch but am enjoying it.
Got to work on dishes and get some lunch

Exasperated w temple office mgr right now.
I put the lol on my li&t twice - must have been OMM. I also made a phone call to make up for it.

-get gloves, hot hands out of my car, bundle up and walk the ddogs
-shape challah to rise
-fold two lol and move washer load over
-save all of nine open attachments to an email that I opened this morning (opened and printed all attachments for meeting, but need to archive in Dropbox
-send follow up email re: meeting this morning

Re: Layering Tuesday
Brrrr... sitting here in pajama bottoms and t-shirt... and I know the house is 73 degrees... but still... brrrrr... maybe I need more layers.
I also may rethink what I was planning to wear tonight. Maybe a heavier sweater...
Last night I "layered" walking away the pounds and reading my new book with watching basketball game w/dh. Does that count?
And of course, "layered" laundry w/fun with dgs.
Today, I don't know how much I will accomplish, but I do plan to keep up my walking away the pounds routine, trying to establish that as a habit. Tonight, nursing home w/dh, ds, ddil, dgs... and then we are keeping dgs for a few hours again while they go to a movie. (They intended to go last night, but were running late, and just decided to eat and come back home.)
DH's bp is really, really high today... (200 something over I don't remember the bottom number). He's wondering if it was the chili & crackers last night -- usually we eat unsalted top crackers but last night we ate the regular ones. I'm a little worried about him b/c I can tell he doesn't feel well... but what you gonna do? He will NOT go to the doctor until time for his annual check up.
Need to get that last large load of laundry in the washer and walk away the pounds. Trying to follow the plan... (My cards are basically now on a checklist and I feel so much better if I check off a lot of things, but for some reason I never seem to do the IMPORTANT things -- the WHB... the focus rooms... I don't know what sort of mental block is keeping me from Getting My Act Together.)

Sadie The furniture sounds wonderful. And very 'adult'. Sometimes we spend so much time 'making do' we don't remember to reward ourselves with grownup things once we get to the point in the life where we don't have to make do.
I'm back from the concert. It was very unusual but very enjoyable. It was a flutist and a percussionist. One piece was called Tempest in a Teacup and included a boiling kettle, silver tray and both Chinese and British style tea cups. Fun fact, Chinese tea cups only make one note, but British, because of the handle, make two, depending where you strike it.
The subway station wasn't equipped for my pay-card so I walked up to the next one, stopping to have lunch and do the banking along the way. Rode the subway one extra stop to pick up a few things at the grocery store because I'm still starving. Given it is just 4 blocks along the road between subway stops it seemed an awfully long ride between stops. Turned out I had to walk ages underground to get to the exit so it was probably just as fast to walk above ground, but at least I was inside.
Found a New York Fries in our hotel building so I won't have to go out for dinner today. Dh is bringing home Chinese from the food cart on the route home.

Re: Layering Tuesday
Okay, I'm going to say I spent 20 minutes on task, b/c I finally transferred photos from digital camera AND iPhone to the computer... AND spent quite some time on Wmart site where I could have SWORN I had downloaded pictures from more recently than Oct. 5... but apparently no, there are no pictures/no albums I can find there since my order of Oct. 5.
I am going to make a diligent effort to download and order pictures at the first of every month. (Unless there are really really few pictures for that month.) Otherwise, I think it is entirely too much trouble to keep up with which ones have been ordered and which ones have not.
Keeping pictures on phone PLUS camera also makes everything more confusing, too.
Plus, sometimes I save pictures from FB posts that ddil puts on there and THAT gets confusing...
* sigh *
My pictures are among my most treasured possessions, and technology has made it better in some ways... and more difficult in other ways.
And speaking of Wmart -- did any of you see my post last night re: the B luebird card/Wmart S avings C atcher? I hope I haven't made a mistake in my greed to save $$$.
Well, how interesting about the teacups, Kathryn... I would have never thought about that -- that different ones make different sounds b/c of the handles!
DH says his meds have kicked in and he is going to the bathroom "every 10 minutes" so maybe that will help bp...
Nancy, I have a sweatshirt that is kinda big, and it is almost always my top layer in the house. I bet dh gets tired of seeing it, LOL!
(((Twins))) for temple woes... I guess you think sometimes you will NEVER be free of this headache! (((BIG HUGS)))
Oh, Sadie!!! (((Co-worker)))!
Congratulations on the new furniture! Our couch has reclining seats on the end, and I just love it. (Ours are not electric, though.)
I am wondering just how Harriet is trying to layer desktops...
And I am thinking, I am not a cat person at all... but I definitely would not want a cat that was half bobcat... or a dog that was half wolf, for that matter.
Harmony... (((HUGS))) for dealing w/Mr. Harmony's "scatter and find" system. I can relate. (My ddad again... I know you and my dmom must be living parallel lives.)
Also so happy to hear such nice news from Elizabeth... sooo happy she is finally back at work. I know that has to be such a RELIEF!
And I cannot even EXPRESS how happy I am that I am not expected to be on bus duty in this kind of weather. Oh my goodness... why did I EVER have doubts about retiring???
I think most of you must read/cuop & type MUCH faster than I do, b/c it seems every time I ci, I spend about 30 minutes, minimum, here...
Editing to say just out of curiosity, I just checked our forecast... we are going from a low of 22 tonight, to a high of 67 Saturday...
Just the lows range from 22-53, and the highs from today's 33-67 on Sunday. Harriet is right... this is very extreme weather. Right now, we're at 33, "feels like" 27.
* sigh * Ain't nobody got time for this.
^ Have y'all seen that video on youtube? I'll see if I can find a link.

Oh my goodness... I'll probably get banned from the village for sure after this one. Y'all please believe me, I'm not being racist -- or irreverent about the lady's health troubles or the fire... it's just something ds/ddil showed me and we couldn't help but LOL at the remix.
Thanks in advance for your forgiveness.

New furniture does sound wonderful, Sadie, and the best part is that you didn't have to make the decision and got to do what you felt needed to be done.
Unusual concert, Kathryn! What is New York Fries and how can it be good for you, LOL?
Nancy, was that a photo of Toddler N on Facebook yesterday? She was cute! Yes, your house is a good, loving place for her to be.
Lucylee, does your dh know that salt is the second ingredient in chili powder? May have affected his BP - does he take one that has hydrochlorathiazide, which is a diuretic? (Mine has HCT as the abbreviation on the label.)
I got confused and started saving Q3 stmts as Q2, had to do something else and come back but now is done. Challah is in the oven. I made it as two loaves so we will have one for "testing." to see if taste is the same.
This time:
-call dneighbor about meal later
-ck w dh re: evening schedule
-ck dmom's bank acct online
-deal w 10 pieces of paper from my desk
-go upstairs and walk on treadmill to 9K steps

Re: Layering Tuesday
YES, Twins! He said he was going to HAVE TO "lay off" the chili... It was canned chili, also, so probably ten times as much salt as I would have put in it...
I think his bp med does have a diuretic in it, though, so maybe he'll get this flushed out of his system soon. He really is running to the bathroom more often than normal, I think. Plus -- he takes beta prostate -- never been diagnosed w/enlarged prostate or anything, but he certainly has reason to suspect -- and he was without THAT med for over a week. (Gets it in the mail). So he just got back on it last Friday, I think, and maybe it took a while for that to do its work, too.
* sigh * He probably would think this is waaay TMI, btw...
I'm back here b/c I forgot to save pics on external hard drive as well... so came back and did that... and of course had to ci and see if I had upset anyone w/my politically incorrect video. * MODS -- just take it down if you think you should! I understand not everyone shares my sorta irreverent sense of humor. *
