I put 2 rows of side-by-side books into a long lined basket on top of my end table, near my great room chair and ottoman. The problem is, this basket came out of my office last night, I had emptied out the contents of the basket, on my desk and shelves in the office, and never re-stocked a smaller basket, nor cleaned up after myself, with my desk pile and shelves piles. I need to sort-sort-sort like crazy, purge (if it's not for work!), and get some sanity to my office again, so I can be thinking peacefully. A tidy environment yields a peaceful mind, a Dr. told me once, when we were talking about FlyLady.

At least my end table looks very nice and inviting now!

And I've kept up on the kitchen, bathrooms, and the bunny room and main office aren't half-bad either. ;)

I agree with you d friend that a tidy environment really gives peace to our minds. Great job on keeping up with those rooms!!! that is awesome!!!

it's the process...

still working - I will list work done later

- went through can goods and got rid of out of date items - I think I should do this spring and fall
- did more washing of walls and wood work then painting
-cleaned all but 1 cabinet
- tossed 2 bags of misc things.
-like things together again.. my mason jars are put away and I made decision re: glassware
-recycled much
-realized dh is a keeper of multiples and nothing goes back to where it belongs - he puts things away but just to hide it. Its put away but not organized.

I thought I would be done by today on the kitchen. I have been deep cleaning but still need to:
clean windows, caulk windows, vacuum and paint trim windows (wash)
stove inside and out of stove and microwave
put away the extra cleaning supplies
wash the floors

Shredded lots of papers and worked on consolidating some accounts. Feeling much more at peace as I get rid of those pesky paper piles! Found a binder to donate.

I worked on my small office last night, but it needs more work, I feel frustrated, like I'm spinning my wheels in mud and cannot get moving anywhere, in this room. Being a writer-reader is simply awful sometimes. I feel like I'm drowning in my small office, sometimes! I don't know what to do, don't know where to put everything, but I suppose if I play music, use my timer, and baby step the process, I'll find some headway before bedtime. I like everything neat and tidy so that I can actually T-H-I-N-K! :!:  :|

so happy you feel at peace with that paper clutter gone d elly

I understand d friend! my dd is a writer like you and she needs space to work and think.
I spin my wheels anyway but when things are cluttered I can't think at all. :D

Can you work left to right - I know my timer and left to right and music always helps (unless I am really unfocused - which goes on for days with me :D )
Good luck!!!

My office is decluttered now, looks a LOT better, and I like it! I need to go through files, transfer story titles onto my index cards, for my file, and throw away the sheets of paper, which I have story ideas on.

I don't work left to right, right to left; I just do it, everywhere, at once. High-and-low, left-to-right, right-to-left, inside baskets, inside drawers, on top of high shelves, etc.. Music doesn't seem to effect me, when I'm decluttering, but I ♥ music to write to, do emails to, read news by, and calendar reminders. I use music in other rooms, when I'm doing creative things, too. When I'm alone, I play music to walk-putter by. But when DH is here, I don't play music, as it disturbs his TV viewing experience- unless I close a door.

Dson told me years ago, how he takes a room, starts in the lower-left-hand spot, working counter-clockwise around the room. Everyone has their own systems. I do a lot of different things, depending upon the job, how long it'll take, my mood, and who's system I'm using at the time. It's not complicated. I think some people make it harder than it is. I merely sort, purge, or bless others to mail/give things to them, of interest to them. Or there's always donating, or just plain burning it, if it's trash.

I hung up the clothes and put away 1 LOL, which was in our MBR. I got out clothes for tomorrow, too, fixed my face, while I was at it, so the MBR is done. I only have a little clutter, sometimes, in rooms. I'm not a hoarder, nor have stacks of magazines/papers going up to the ceiling. DH says he doesn't even understand why I'm a FlyBaby, but feels, since it brings me joy, I can do what I want to. I keep a Home Journal, as per CEO's 2 books. I keep story writing on index cards in an index file box, but not household chores nor pampering missions. My system works for me.

good for you! I loved this:
I don't work left to right, right to left; I just do it, everywhere, at once. High-and-low, left-to-right, right-to-left, inside baskets, inside drawers, on top of high shelves - My system works for me.
Awesome!

great work d friend!!!

today: declutter goal - my mind has been swirling with what temporary things I have to do - so my goal is de-cluttering my mind and putting it on 3 x 5 cards.

I de-cluttered a temporary card right out of my box - I finally caulked the kitchen window... it took 10 minutes... why I put it off I will never know

I dumped trash from the MBathR...
I put away clean LOL....
I hung up a gown/Muumuu, which was too warm to wear, b/c the fleece nightgown and walking in the house heat me up too much...
I sorted/purged mail....
I got 2 letters done....
I purged a magazine, first saving articles, to send to pen pals, which are informative or about crafting ideas.....

I WANT/NEED to sort through:
1- files in a filing cabinet,
2- files in a Rubbermaid filing container,
3- files in numerous baskets,
4- files on clipboards,
AND WANT/NEED to take the stories I find in outline form, chicken scratch, and put the titles onto 4 x 6" cards, for outlining at later dates, so I can write/submit 1 short story per month, from now on. I'm taking time out to "enjoy the view", to do other creative endeavors, such as artwork, calligraphy, needlecrafts, etc.... I listed everything on 3 graph pages, from a large tablet, used in college calligraphy classes, and hung them onto the erasable board, to see easily, when I go into the room, to refresh my memory. So, I'll put putting my paper-clutter onto index cards, into a file box, so there's less clutter in baskets, filing cabinets, etc...

ALSO, I want to read on my Nook reader, regularly, made a calendar reminder, daily, to read, then list what I've read, so I can sign in, to delete them off my Nook reader, to free up more space.
