I spent all afternoon at dd2s watching dgd3 while she took dgd5 to the ER. She has pink eye. Yikes! She dropped off the RX and it will take 30 minutes. I told her if dgd18 doesn't get home in time to watch them, I can go back to watch them. This is the beauty of them living so close.

Dgd18 worked 7 hours yesterday and 4 hours today writing a book on government at the 7th grade level. This is dual credit for HS and Jr. College. Since she is graduating early and going to the juco fulltime next semester, she will have 32 credit hours and will be considered a sophomore for the fall semester. I proof read her book. Then her and her boyfriend went to Staples to see if they can copy and bind it.

This is the dgd that dd2 calls grandma jr. or Lilac jr. She does have a lot of me in her. She reads a lot and in any conversation, she can add so much to it. She just seems to absorb anything that she has read and can pull it out at the appropriate time. She is mature and we really enjoy her.

Yeah, dsonil got his deer. Now he can be available to help dd2. He volunteered to stay home with dgd5 tomorrow but dd2 said she might do it and then he can stay with her the next day. All I know is I have company coming on Friday. I will need to get this house cleaned and the rest of the decorating done and blah, blah, blah...............

Amazing moon rise. It is a full moon tonight. I just looked up from my keyboard and there was a glowing dome behind a building on the other side of the city. Then I realized it was the moon. Thankfully dh came quickly because it was all over in 4 minutes.

The moon still looks amazing but to see it come up from behind the cityscape was wonderful. Just 4 days ago, the moon rose long before sunset (I have photos I took of it in daylight on the 4th.)

I just can't stop staring at the moon, it is compelling. How magical!

Just had fun picking out Christmas gifts for Pastor and wife. Giving a rabbit hutch and mated pair of rabbits for one and garden tools and seeds for the other. It would have been fun to give a mule - but that is $500 and a bit much. If anyone is interested - the URL is presbyteriangifts.org.

I think I told your that one of our members passed on Thursday and I am in charge of the funeral luncheon next Sat. I made out a menu and had all the sign-ups I needed in about 10 minutes. I was really pleased it went so well. I double checked on supplies and we are good to go on that. I'm debating about getting some kind of Christmas greens to put in vases on the tables. Any ideas???? I thought maybe I could pick up some evergreen branches and trim them down to bud vase size - but I'm not sure what to put with them.

Sunny ~ I never thought of oxy-clean for the smelly plastic container. Thanks for the tip. That container is already out in the garage, but I have a bowl I use a lot that is stained and I've been thinking I'd have to toss it. I'll try your tip to see if it can be rescued.

FelineFriend ~ I'm glad you decided to crochet a hat for yourself. You spend so much time making things for others, you deserve a little something you can wear and stay warm.

Kathryn ~ I'm so sorry your friend has passed. I remember you talking about her before and how sweet she was.

Actually, Booksaver, my "Senior Friend" is the one who passed. This is one from my congregation at the retirement home (but before that she was at our sister church so I knew her well from there.)

I've managed to get my steps in for the day by writing a long email while on the treadmill.

I've proposed cheap date night to my minister friend but don't think he'll bite. In the town he lives, there's a movie theatre that is half price on Tuesday so on Thanksgiving he proposed we come up on a Tuesday. The movie this week is Penguins in Madagascar and I don't think he'll bite at that (although it is on dh's list) unless he can get his kids for the evening. His custody doesn't start until Wednesday night so that's not likely. Dh doesn't have a conference call this Tuesday night (a rare event) and so that's why I proposed it. Otherwise, we won't see each other until well into the new year because it is a busy time of year for us both.

Dh cooked up burgers for dinner. They were delicious.

I'm going to settle down and try and finish the book that's due Tuesday. You'll read that a lot from me between now and Tuesday! I'm struggling and am only on chapter 4 of 13. But they are short and the pages are small.

Also sorry to hear about your Senior Friend, (((Kathryn))) -- and your fellow churchmember, (((MT))).

And sorry to hear about pink eye for your dgd, Lilac! Sounds like dgd18 is a very busy girl! -- But sounds like she is also very capable! Is she the one that used to have so much trouble from her cousin the same age? How are things going between those two now?

Dee -- we did the Advent wreath lighting today also! And guess what... I read my part AND dh's... AFTER he had already read his. * sigh * SIGH * He looked at me once it was all over and said, "Well, wasn't much need in me coming, was it?" He laughed about it though... and I told him YES, he was needed, b/c he lit the candles! I just lost my place on the page, you know, and just started in reading without thinking. (((HUGS))) for your dd & dsil as they decide what to do about the move.

Well, it has been a very sweet Sunday here. DGS is back (with his parents, of course!) They drove all night and got in about 9:00 this morning. They called us at 2:00 a.m. (yes, we were still awake) and wanted to know if we might be able to give some babysitting relief after church b/c they expected to be tired after the night shift driving. Of course, we wanted to see them, and dgs, ...... but...... like I said, it was after 2:00 a.m. when we got off the phone, w/church at 9:00 a.m. and we were like * whew * But I told ddil to let us get a little nap after church and I would call them later in the afternoon. That seemed to suit them okay, so I didn't call them till around 3:00 p.m. Then ds brought him over, and he has played, and admired our Christmas tree, and gone out to eat with us, looked at Christmas lights, and had a great time, apparently. We just dropped him off at his house.

I don't think we are going to be needed for any long period tomorrow. DS did not mention it.

And then tonight, of course, bowl game invitations were announced so we have made our hotel reservations... and of course that makes me nervous... it will be in dbro's town and -- I know I'm a nut case -- but it just always makes me nervous, planning long trips like this... thinking we will be expected to coordinate schedules in order to visit w/dbil & his girlfriend, etc. etc. And it's going to be awfully expensive... dh hopes we can spend nights in college town before and after so we can see basketball games on our way to and from...
Actually, it is unlikely we will be able to do more than just go out for supper with them anyway. We're spending 3 nights, but basically just two days, and it is very likely they will have plans on New Year's Eve, and we have the ballgame New Year's Day, plus dh will want to be back in the hotel to watch our Other state team play that night. Then the third day, we'll just get up and start driving back. And yes, this is all in your direction, Dee/Sunny/Harmony... but y'all know if I can't plan social things with dbro, I surely can't plan for a SHE-meeting... * shaking my head *
ALL the social requirements, even if IS just family social things, sorta get me nervous... so Christmas is full of anxiety-inducing moments. But I am doing better, I guess, than I used to, so I will hang on to that thought. I managed to go all the way to Houston w/dh & daunt... I can manage Christmas w/dmom, & dbro and his girlfriend, surely.
Thank goodness dh and I still enjoy each other's company...

Talked to dmom for about an hour tonight. At least she still sounds in good spirits.

Need to pick up the leftover toys that dh & dgs didn't get put away earlier. Just wanted to ci: and say hello to everyone!

I finished my grey heather hat, I'm almost done with a matching scarf and DH and I are watching Jackie Evancho in concert on PBS.

I got a bit of a nap, in my recliner, as I'd only had 4 hours of sleep, was tired, and beginning to feel cranky. I felt better, waking up to Jackie Evancho music, then s2s and shampooed.

I worked on my Home Journal chore page, for the week, and my calendar reminders. Next up, is to write out my PODA, and get out tomorrow's clothes. The clothes I have out, are for frigid temps, it's going to be in the 60's and muggy and raining, so I'll wear clothes, which won't be making me too hot.

DH goes to the drug study nurse tomorrow, for his diabetic check. They keep increasing his insulin/drug study med injections. I wonder if they'll increase it again. (???)

lucylee, yes this the dgd18 that was so hurt by dd1s dd. It has been 3 years now since this started. It is just pure jealousy on dd1 and her dd's part. Those girls were close for so long, but I don't think they ever will be again. They talk at family dinners but that's about it. Dd1s dd is jealous that her cousin has had the same boyfriend since the beginning of their freshman year. The funny thing is that she set them up on a blind date, not expecting them to hit it off. This is another way that dgd18 is like me. I met dh when I was 15 and here we are 45 years later. I look for them to eventually marry. He just seems like one of the family.

For years dd2 talked of making a video of the girls for a joint graduation party. Dd1 told me that her dd does not want to share the spotlight with her cousin and they would have their own party. I told dd2 this. She said her dd had said she thought it wasn't a good idea and she had been upset with her. After what dd1 told me, dd2 decided to just let it go and will have a party for her own dd.

I better drag myself upstairs and wash dishes, so I can head to bed.............
