Happy Last Sunday of 2014!!!!!

I am getting my wish list of things I want to learn for 2015 together (one or two things) - I do this every year and it helps me focus on something I have always wanted to try. I have so much I want to learn but I know I can touch here and there on some things but I love focusing the year to one or two things so I can really learn how to do something or learn deeply about a subject.

Also dh and I are coming up with a list to be put into temporary cards of what we want to do in the house before next Christmas.

Happy Sunday

I want to watch another webinar today about my software.

I need to unstick my tushie some how.

-wash up, brush teeth, get dressed
-walk the ddogs
-reboot laundry, start a load of delicates to hang dry
-make the bed
-deal with 10 pieces of paper on my desk

Interesting article: Forget Setting Goals. Focus on this instead. http://www.entrepreneur.com/article/230333 In our discussions of cards, to-do lists etc. we are focusing on the system to get things done, not on the goal itself. This feels like a more authentic purpose than goal setting right now. If I had a system to deal with paper, it wouldn't be piled up. If I had a system to get caught up on my to dos, I wouldn't worry about some of them. A system.

I need to unstick my tushie as well :D
s
thanks for the site d twins!!! I loved the article.

I follow what Cary Grant used to do... learn one thing well each year - not a goal really - just focus on learning similar to the article - I set up classes or learn with a focus like we do here.

The Last two years I was focusing in cooking where I took Jacques Pepin's cook books and before then dorie Greenspan's and go through all the recipes unless it's something, I knew, no one would eat. I learned so much. I cooked things I thought I never would and it was really interesting. My youngest dd became a really good cook during my process as she would join me. I fell in love with Ina Garten's easy recipes. I am still looking for willing subjects to try some new recipes on.

This year I decided to take math classes at our local community college to further my math skills. (I also love the Great courses dvd's) I know it doesn't sound like fun to anyone but for me it will be interesting... yes I am a Nerd..coolest nerd ever!

I have washed all the dishes that were hand washable only. I also made a too large batch of chicken and noodles. My cooking is done for a day or two.

Dh told me this morning that he HAS to work his 4 days this week. He has opted to have his vacation paid to him on a weekly basis until it gone. Which will be sometime late February. While they are paying him this way, they will pay our health insurance. This amounts to over $2300 savings, for 2 months. If he uses any sick leave this week, it will void the option. So we would have a heavily taxed lump sum. What is sad is that dh leaves behind the maximum allowed sick leave. But we both realize that they have to have stipulations or there are people who would take weeks of sick leave prior to retirement. Dh said he can drag himself to work and stay in his office and hopefully feel better before his last day.

I feel like I need a nap.................

I think a nap sounds like a good idea d lilac.

I took down all the lights out in front. I also had to put aside the lights for recycling as some didn't light this year.
Now for the bows.

blessed, that is a good way to keep your mind active and growing. I should do something like that.

These last years I did learn how to quilt. I did learn a lot of computer stuff. So I guess I've done something to keep the grey matter alive!

Today I managed to get my Dec payroll taxes in and my federal unemployment in so it comes out of the account in 2014. I won't have many outstanding checks this year.

My dsmil came to visit and we sat and chatted for a while.

I swept my floor and most of the front porch. Need to make dinner next. We have our Christmas tree lights on. I won't take it down for another week. It's doing well, since it was cut live and not shipped, it is very healthy and not shedding much.

On the treadmill for a few minutes trying to warm up and up my step count.

Service went well. I got nervous when I arrived because one of the Revs was coming in from the parking lot at the same time and I thought maybe I had got mixed up and it wasn't actually my Sunday! It was so he must have been visiting someone.

Dh liked my sermon. I had told him it was shorter than usual but he said it felt the same length and was very good. Yay! Service was shorter, by about 8 minutes. Part of that was no anthem and the sermon was a minute or so shorter, regardless of what dh says.

We picked up salad and pork tenderloin on the way home (meat was on sale) and then I watched a couple of episodes of the Guardian. Finished off the first season (of 3 on Netflix.) We'll watch an episode of Sherlock while we eat tonight. Dinner is leftovers. Got to empty the fridge so I can fill it up for New Years.

Ate dinner, watched Sherlock, went for a walk to the store to check out Christmas lights along the way and pick up milk. Crossed over 10K steps as well. Still on target to average that per day for December. I'm not averaging that for the past 7 days but early in the month I had several days of 13K or higher so they made up for the 5K yesterday.
