Re: The Tough Get Going Thursday
Morning y'all...
LadyM... I understand your excitement. The mop is easy peasy to use and your hands never get wet. Cut my mopping time in half as well. Plus it makes quick clean ups a snap.
Dee... It is a Hurricane spin mop. You can google it and Amazon offers it. The cleaner is called fabuloso. It's inexpensive and what my cleaning service used on my floor. You can find it at w Al mart. I used the blue colored one because I like the scent. Plus it works great to clean other house projects.
Yesterday the high temp broke a record. I'm not excited abt that because I look forwards to the cooler weather.
Not sure what my day will bring... Need to make a grocery run to stock up on veggies. Other than that my day is mostly free.
Stay warm ... Cy'all later

Re: The Tough Get Going Thursday
Thanks, RR - have done a 'smart' thing for a change and copied the info and put it in my PODA so I have it when I get ready to do that.
Going to print out the application for new license plates for our car while dh is at his meeting this afternoon. May also google that mop and get it coming this way. So need to mop the kitchen. Dh had bought a new mop for there -can't remember what it's called at the moment (know it's a r ubber maid), but it's not so easy for me. If I really like the spin mop may end up getting one for up north as well. Our floors in the park model are all vinyl except for carpet for the slide outs and carpet in our bedroom. Our bedroom was supposed to be vinyl as well but somehow didn't come through that way. Our other choice is light beige carpet all the way through and we've had experience in an RV with carpet. Vinyl or wood look floors are the way to go there for sure.
I'm already anxious to get back north but surely not in this cold.

Re: The Tough Get Going Thursday
After 1 hour and 45 minutes in the dentist chair, I am home at last.
Right away the assistant took an impression. It only had to be in there 2 minutes. I thought I was home free. WRONG! Later they had to take another impression and this one had to be in there 5 minutes. With my claustrophobia and not to mention a lingering, occasional dry cough, I was not a happy camper. Then there was a bubble in that one and they had to do another one, for 5 minutes. I was absolutely fit to be tied. I kept feeling like I was going to choke and while he was grinding he put a block to hold my mouth open that I had to bite down on. So I have a temporary bridge. I am glad that I had an early appointment because once the numbness wears off I can tell if the bite is all right. If it's not, I can go back in and they can take care of it. They aren't open tomorrow and I would hate to wait 3 days, with a bite issue. Oh I almost forgot, after he pulled the roots, I had to do another 2 minute impression. I go back in 3 weeks to get the permanent bridge placed and that appointment should be easy. Remove the temporary and place the permanent.
Yesterday dh and I went to WM to get him a large variety of breakfast items that he can fix himself.
I have 2 phone calls to make but need to let the numbness go away before I make them.
It is suppose to be low 40's today but breezy. Then it will be really cold again tomorrow. I haven't been able to leave home without my winter coat for almost a month. Usually there is a break here and there, where a jacket will do. Not this winter.

Re: The Tough Get Going Thursday
Would be a nightmare for me as well, (((Lilac))).
Was researching that mop, RR. It's just about same price at A mazon as anywhere else. I have prime membership but also added "Smile" a few weeks ago. You can choose a charity of your choice and they submit a % of each purchase to that charity -doesn't change your price at all. So always try to remember to go through "Smile". Have it on my desktop and click on it there so all my purchases go for our local Ronald McDonald House.
Speaking of RMH, (reminds me because DGS and DDShelley spent so much time at various RMH's over the years while he was young.) This takes me to dgd19. She is a sophomore in college but has enough credits to be considered a Junior. She decided a short time ago to apply for her nursing classes registration early -usually need to be a Jr. She's so thrilled because she's been accepted. Her aim is to be a Pediatric Oncology Nurse. Her Mom would be so proud of her doing so well. Know the influence of dgs's cancer from birth has played a large part in her direction.

Re: The Tough Get Going Thursday
I'm up, just avoided the computer this morning.
My mood has been so black, I decided to haul out the SAD light so did that while having tea this morning. Then I hand-wrote a real letter to my minister friend. Sending real letters is a New Year Resolution and I had some coupons to mail him, so he got to be first. I know no short stories so it ended up being 4 pages long! And with spelling errors since my hand writing doesn't include spell-check. (I ended up pulling out my spelling book from secretarial days - it is a book full of words and where to break them if you are using a hyphen on a typewriter. Boy, that ages me!
After that, I had breakfast, read another chapter of the mystery book I'm working on (the cover claims it is a page turner and I'm 2/3 of the way through after 6 days so I'll agree with that assessment - the last book I read took me 4 weeks to get through the introduction!)
I'm s2s and have turned on the heat in the bedroom and put down towels. It was - 15 overnight and windows iced up because we had the humidifiers on (they only got the room up to 38%.) As they defrost, they are puddling water on the radiator and some is running into it, so I've put down towels to catch the drips. About 70% of the ice is off now.
I'm now responding to emails. I've been invited to work Sunday afternoons at a new retirement home owned by the people who own the one I already work at. They'll time the service so we can do both. I said I'll try a trial run of a few months and we'll see if it works out or if it is too much. It is a chance for me to parlay my work into twice the pittance I currently get paid by spending another hour working.

Re: The Tough Get Going Thursday
I know it OH so well. More than I want to know it. I have been debating on posting about recent issue we are currently working through, but have hesitated because it is very touchy. It is something that most every one raising children has to deal with at some time in their youth but is mostly not spoken about. This happened to LO at an earlier age than we expected. We have 2 therapist involved to guide us through this. Yughhhh....raising children ain't for sissy.I'm too afraid of it being picked up. Not good. Someone asked me a while ago about her. Lady M, I know you know this cycle.
Where has the morning gone? It has been 3 hours since I came back home from taking LO to school and I don't feel like I have anything to show for it. Although I have been busy doing something.....
f** Cooked LC pancakes, eggs, bacon for breakfast and cleaned it up.
** made lemonade & tea for the day
** read cipher lock instructions and practiced locking/unloacking the front door. Taught DH how to do it.
** LOL washed/dried...still need to put it away
** DDIL called and we talked about important family issues/decisions for almost an hour.
** spent 30 minutes vacuuming, mopping, dusting the house to get it back to company ready status.

Re: The Tough Get Going Thursday
Wishing you to get WARMER, those of you, who are in the deep chill of the country!
It's been foggy here, dry, which is nice. I'm not complaining.
I got up at 2:45 a.m., could NOT sleep, but took a twilight nap, for 1/2-hour in my chair. After my s2s, shampoo, I felt so BALD because of my Thyroid problem causing my hair to fall out a LOT, when I shampoo!
I went to Ravelry, printed up 2 headbands. I went to my drawer, took out a crocheted headband, tried it over my ears, tied at the nape of my neck, tried it behind my ears, and it looked so STUPID, no matter what I did!
I took it off, did a comb-over, with my almost-shoulder-length bob combed down on each side of my face. The comb-over has silver hair in it, from the left-side, which goes above my forehead and down the right side. It's so pretty like this. I sprayed it, so it'll stay in place. I know it sounds like I'm doing "the bald old man thing", by doing a come-over, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's GOTTA DO!
I need to renew my driver's license, which is why I'm "fussing" about this. You are NOT ALLOWED to wear a hat, glasses, OR headbands, in the photos. At least my hair's not covering half my face, because they won't allow that either. (I don't have that much.) I'm so HAPPY NOW!
Our mail wasn't here yet, the last time DH checked at 4:30 p.m. last night. A LOT of people are ill, according to my nurse, so we wondered if there's illness going around at the P. O. and that's maybe the reason we didn't get mail. But, I told DH, sometimes on Wednesdays, they'll have a sub and deliver later. He's just left, at 9:25 a.m., to mail 1 letter for me, to check the mail, which are in locked community mailboxes, so it's safe overnight. I HOPE we got mail yesterday! I'll be able to reply to it, while DH is gone at his retirees luncheon today, for about 3 hours.
I plan to crochet, listen to music, putter around, too.
I just love fartin' off, while he's gone.
The world's my oyster. It's so nice because he's been retired for 16 years now. He's 73 now, he retired early, and it's wonderful to have time together- but it's nice we have our own interests, too. I think that's so healthy in a relationship. It's been about 44.5 years now, for us. ♥ ♥ He's not back yet, but he's getting the recycle bin, which is huge, and the garbage can. Occasionally he'll visit with a neighbor, too. Mom told me once, how DStep-Dad would come home from work, and tell her this and that, from work. She said that men were worst gossipers than women!
DH and his buddy ARE full of news, so I don't know if that's 100% right or not.
Does anybody else have a take on that? Mom has theories about things like that. There was NO MAIL yesterday. Oh, well. There will be today. It's nice not to owe anyone.
I'm slowly, but surely, sorting a box of papers in the main office. It was paper clutter I got out of the main office closet, when I put in card stock, background papers, and colored papers. I'm going to collect some papers, as I have about a 10-inch stack of construction paper, TOO, and take the papers to DGS & DGD's home, for them to play with. I'm sure their Dmom/Ddad have safety scissors, glue, and tape. I even found a little book about "Goldylocks and the Three Bears!"
It's fun to bless little ones, with things like this. It makes me feel good, and I "think" they feel special, because Gma remembered them with something special, too. ♥
I might do 1 LOL today. I need to empty the DW. I'd sure love to get that box emptied out! If I empty it out, I'll put papers in it, to take to Dson/Ddil's when we go to a combination b-day party for two grandchildren, either in Jan. OR Feb. We can put gifts in the box, too.
It sounds like I have a "plan" for that box now, to motivate me, to sort it all out and get everything purged, filed, or given away, or put away.
Also, if I do it in baby steps, like coming down the hall to the box every 15 minutes or 1/2-hour, I'll get in more steps on my pedometer, TOO!
I hope this deep chill doesn't last too long for those of you in it!
Have a great day! Take care of yourselves, too!
TTFN.

I am trying what dd BO older suggests... that seems so easy for her ... touch it once and put it where it belongs instead of piling it somewhere. also she suggested when I go into any room do grab something and put it away or do one little thing... boy it hurts my brain but looks better

(((FF))) I'm glad you found a good hair style that works for you. I noticed yesterday that I could see my scalp. It is the first time that I have noticed it. My hair has always been super thick, but I guess I'm in the phase of life where it gets thin.
New recipe (Pork Rind Pork Chops) is in the oven. I'm serving it with seasoned green beans and sweet potato. It is going to be an stressful afternoon so I wanted something good in my belly to help with the emotions.
Waiting for DH to arrive home to eat lunch. If he gets here soon, we will have time to watch an episode of Blue Blood together before we need to leave.
