I have been working on my 2014 and 2015 files
tossed much - because of working on finances in 2014 I have less than I have had in the past (much less)
frustration I can't find my books jan through June 2014 that I kept my spending, charge card balances, and budgets, and weekly spending... praying I find them..
I don't have a lot of paper clutter anymore so I am concerned that I did something goofy with them
dd younger cleaned the whole kitchen and it is beautiful... yesterday she made artichokes with tarragon butter - delicious!
Lunch is done. Dishwasher running. We have extra time so the boys are playing N64 beside me. Thank heavens for dd sharing the system and letting me store it here for the boys. The eldest helped cook lunch (his first time cooking bacon, middle one read and youngest played Jenga with me while I cooked sausage. So we are keeping them busy, the key to a good visit!
Yesterday while searching images for my timer, I ran across an essay on the Loose Ends Home Management site. It's very brief, so I won't link, but the idea was that if you wonder which tasks benefit most from using a timer, consider the ones that make you cringe, or make you feel paralyzed.
In some ways, it (a timer) allows you to take a task and essentially cage it. It forces you to take the first step, which is usually the hardest.
I thought I'd get that down before I forgot it.
Btw, Twins' Mom, did you actually purchase one of the books on Pomodoro Technique (timer), and if so which do you recommend. Or did you just read online, and think it was too basic to need a book?
Lilac, I hope your dds can find amusement in their challenges and be happy for whoever "wins". I have never seen the allure of competition myself, lol. My oldest dd is extremely competitive at work, at least.
I had a happy report for the Cleaning thread. Need to report in Declutter as well. It means a great deal to me to be on target with these tasks. (yay me)
With his first line of defense now sadly gone, Tobias has become a mouser on the offence with 2 catches so far in his first winter at it. He makes an amazing racket upstairs at the eave, prances down to the hallway with the mouse, and waits on someone to appreciate him. Then we escort to the front door, where he will release without too much disappointment (whoosh), and he heads back inside for a treat. We do think he believes we're a little crazy wanting this catch-and-release program, though. Hopefully his presence is a deterrent beyond what we're seeing in-house.
helia, accident sounds awful. Was it snowing at the time? Oh, sorry about the guinea pig also. Know how attached we get to our pets. I hope it is not in pain.

I am cold. Would like to get back in the bed under the covers. My cough is way worse and my voice is very tight. I hope noone comes tonight for the bonfire. Nobody but one person rsvp'd and hers was to say they couldn't come. I'm not in the mood to tidy the house or host, make cocoa and lemonade, and just generally be sociable. I think I'll set stuff out and say hello then come back inside. I don't want to be in cold air or to be smelling smokey air. DH shouldn't be out in it either.
I got some bills paid and some stacks organized, a statement printed, and answered the phone a few times. After I load the dishwasher, that might be it for a while.
Thanks for the concern and kind wishes, Blessed and Harmony. ---As I was writing that, I just had to think what a nice pairing your two names are together. I know Starby is just a guinea pig, but I probably will be a little sad when she's put down - but not extremely so. I want to do well taking care of the animals in our household; I just can't ethically have an animal suffering in our household if we can do something about it. However, I'm not extremely attached to the guinea pigs. Now the dogs - that's a different matter. . . . . Starby is technically dd19's guinea pig, so she needs to know.
I can't really tell if Starby is in pain or not. She is currently hiding under an upside down clementine crate with Taffy. (Upside down clementine crates make excellent guinea pig hiding places. They can nose the crate up enough to slip underneath it.)

Done:
- a.m. routine, minus making the bed
- groc. store
- tended hens; heated up some leftover rice and put it with some of their feed inside the coop, and they attacked it with a frenzy! Our hens prefer rice to bread, maybe b/c we eat a lot of rice?
- sat with dh and dd16 while they had brunch
- went over some decluttering and reorganization that dh has done around the house; goodness, I can't keep up with that man.
very clever to use that as a hiding spot for guinea's - your little starby has had a good life at your house!

had fun seeing d sil! always a joy
tickled pink..I knew d sil was stopping by and it took so little just to do a bit of spiffing - nothing much... I could honestly be proud to have her come in. no clutter - and no dog hair (because I had vacuumed my floors again and rinsed them again yesterday). What a nice feeling
bought myself and family a container store fancy shmancy label maker ... dd younger has wanted one for a long time for her family genealogy things - (she does it for others) - I never thought I would like it - but I love it... It makes things look so much neater
found that my files and statements for 2011 and 2012 had water damage... I wish I could say it was organized nicely but I can't - everything separated but envelopes in one big pile

Back from town store run done. Groc has been unloaded and put away I am happy bc I remembered stamps.
The hen seems better and gets to live longer.
Waiting for the game h is watching car reviews of chevy travers ho hum for me on the inside I like the looks of the outside. Hope I can see over the dash well enough.
Found some chunky yarn on sale I have been looking for.
I was stunned this morning watching LO in his very first basketball scrimmage. "Mr. Anxiety" transformed into "Mr. Confident" when he got on the basketball court. LO scored 80% of the points and brought the ball down the court almost every time......although he did forget to dribble the ball several times. LOL Thankfully they give plenty of grace to the newbie players.
AFterwards we dropped off my vehicle to be repaired ( they will remove broken air shocks & install struts). That means DH and myself are sharing a vehicle. We don't have any public transportation options or sidewalks (walking on the side of road = dangerous!) It's going to be interesting to see if we can make this work. We can always borrow a vehicle (or rent one) if we get into an impossible transportation situation.
I survived 2.5 hours in Chuck-E-Cheese. >>>>groan<<<<< This afternoon Chuck had scheduled EIGHT birthday parties going on at the same time in the open floor party area. I swear my ears drums are still vibrating from the volume of noise. I don't want to wish Chuck bad future business, but I do hope LO is never invited to another birthday party in that NOISY place.
I arrive home with ringing ears and no meal planned. I served grilled cheese sandwiches. Not particularly healthy, but mindless and quick.

I can almost 'smell' that finish line now. Just sent a good part of the annual report off to the secretary, pastor and our moderator to go over and proof read some more. I still have the auditing committee and probably 2/3 of the Treasurer report to do. I at least have the expenditure sheets done -that's 2 of 5 or 6 pages. I'll tackle the rest tomorrow after church. I would be oh so happy to have everything sent off by Monday! Record!!! Just hoping that all the reports go through email the same way I had them aligned.....
Haven't done much else but that today -off and on. DD made dinner and an impossible coconut pie.
Got some real cute pictures from DDIL#2. DGS2 commandeered his big sister and a couple of her guests into playing fire fighter with him. He used the bunker set we sent him and a 'worker' vest as costumes. So cute.
