Got general tidying done.

Got distracted looking for movies I want to see. Into the Woods might be our next one although there are concerns it is too intense for me. I'm explaining this to my minister friend since he'll be sitting next to me (if we go, I'm demanding that I'm between the two guys for protection.) In the meantime, I need to quickly reread Grimm's Fairy Tales (that's already on my recommended reading from him.) I stopped when I hit the Little Match Girl. There's something missing in my brain that says that things are fiction and not true so I react as if they are true. It means I seldom watch the news (only listening to the radio makes it easier to bear) and almost never watch anything other than light comedies or dramas because I feel things too intensely. As long as my friend and I are getting to know each other better, he needs to understand this part of my personality, the part that poor dh has been tolerating for decades (that's why he goes to so many movies alone.)

The window guy came but it can't be caulked from the inside so we'll have to put up with the whistling. It isn't bad, and we don't pay for heat so it isn't a big deal.

I'm not making much progress so need to buckle down. Haven't had many steps yet today, despite all the tidying.

Next up, prep the box to be taken to UPS.

Winds blew the polit lite out on the furnace last night glad that it is going again now. No charge. The repair guy just left. They will be here Mon. To give us a quote for new furnace so we can consider that at some point. (Glad the laundry room is in good shape & that I have spiffed up the rest of the basement.)

Glad I did some baking helped to make it warmer in the kitchen. The apple cake smells yummy too. Tweaked a mix a bit for this one. It will be good for lunches and snacks.

"Lost timer" -not good for we shes! Depend on mine so often.

Dh and I just got back from weekly stint at church and a trip to Al di's for some groceries. Decided to make chili for dinner. It's up to 56 here, so a good night for it. I made "That's Amore" soup early in the week -must say it was a hit for everyone. I finished the last 1/2 cup of it for dinner last night. Weight was same today as yesterday -have hopes for tomorrow. At least my BS was only 86 this morning -that's more like it! My biggest hurdle is to get my step count up I think. I've really done poorly there.

It was difficult driving to church this morning -knee was bothering me enough that it was hard to lift my leg for the brake (though I notice I use the brake a whole lot less in this car -hopefully that will equate in not having to get new brakes as often). Dh also said he needed to put the knee brace back on when we got home -though he hasn't as yet.

Going to put a bunch of things in boxes for Sal Army to pick up. DD has gd's old bed and dresser in the garage (they've been there for some time as dd and dh built a loft bed for gd about 3 years ago. Unfortunately when they took it to the garage for DBIL/DSIL to pick up (it's from them and antique) gd dropped her end of the dresser/mirror. Nuff said. But in those 3 years dbil/dsil have expressed no interest in picking it up. It would clean up a large area in the garage for it to be out of here. Also have the comforter, etc from gd's bed (and the bed is coming down) so that needs to go. Plus had some other heavier weight blankets, rugs, etc to go.

Guess I'll get lunch fixed and get on with my afternoon.

Waving hello to everyone. It is a nicer day today than yesterday, which was an overcast, cool, misty and rainy day. Sky is blue, temp is 57* at the moment.

I mentioned in the holiday threads that earlier this week we finally got all our Christmas decorations and trees put away in their newly organized and decluttered totes on the shelves in the laundry room. Front entry is cleaned top to bottom, including bookcases. Kitchen is mostly done, including cabinets washed, fridge and stove cleaned, counters and counter top appliances cleaned. I'm ready to move into another area starting Monday.

Wishing Elizabeth, dd and dfriends a good time at concert tonight!

Scales.....oh yes! I finally got on the scale this morning for the first time since 1-1-15. I have lost the three lbs. I found in December, thank goodness! I can once again concentrate on healthier meals, many less sweets and drinking more water; probably should add more walking in also.

Timers.....well, no, I don't use one. When I start a new activity (such as decluttering or cleaning) I work until I see a marked improvement (or if it is a small job - finished). Then I decide if I can stop till another session or continue to finish status.

Grimm's Fairy Tales....Read a long, long time ago. Some of those stories are quite sad, aren't they?

Sun is out, we had rain last night then wind dried everything out.
48* Is the forcast hi today.
I cleaned up the kitchen.

and it explained what fairy stories are about to me. It explained the wisdom in them, that isn't /wasn't that obvious to me at least, and I doubt they were ever meant for children. Lots of symbolism - in her opinion. Anyway - it demystified it for me. I still wouldn't make a habit of reading the Grim m Version.

I am still awake. My brain is an a rehash of friends life - for say the last 4-5 years of it. I guess there is nothing I can do about it now, and there was little I could have done earlier, short of calling for evaluation for 'compulsory help' and all that that would mean.
Also thinking of conversations I need to have with my dds. I guess its a version of 'health directives.'
dd#1 rang putting off my visit next week. Too much happening at their place. I'll need to find out the result with other dd involved too. Maybe next w/e.

Good morning -- LOL -- for another two minutes, I guess... it will be afternoon by the time I hit submit, of course.

I received sad news via facebook this morning... dfriend/mentor/distant cousin has passed away. She was 81, and had had health problems for the last several years, was a resident at one of the nursing homes ds plays at, so I got to see her once a month, which was a blessing. She was my 12th grade English teacher and yearbook sponsor, and then I taught with her for over 10 years, until she retired. (She had also taught dmom and dh.) There is just no way to express her influence on my life, so... even though I know she was very much looking forward to Heaven, it is sad to know she is no longer on this Earth.

And of course, as always, I start worrying about what the arrangements will be, b/c dh has definite plans to be out of town tomorrow... but I'm thinking (& praying) that they will not have EVERYTHING tomorrow. It can't be in the paper till tomorrow, so SURELY they will not rush and have visitation AND funeral so soon. But who knows? Sometimes people do... But maybe it will be Sunday, at least.

Lilac, you asked about movies -- yes -- we saw Unbroken. Loved it! Very inspiring. I cannot imagine going through one day of what he did.
American Sniper was also very good. I have to warn you -- I was in tears at the closing credits... but it was a very good movie. Pretty intense. I read a criticism of it which seemed to say the movie made him too cold-blooded or something, but I did not see it that way. It seemed to me that he hated every shot he took. (Well, maybe he didn't HATE taking at least one of those shots. You'll understand when you see the movie.) But I did not see him as a cold-blooded killer enjoying his work. He was very good at his work, though, and he saw it as the only way to save the lives of his fellow soldiers. And I cannot imagine going through one day of his life, either. One thing I will never be... a Navy SEAL. * whew * I'd be ringing that bell to quit within 5 minutes.

PS -- Thanks for the encouragement re: my rock project for dmom. Even dbro approved of my practice efforts. And thanks for the info re: Scottish tradition, Harriet. Dmom and I are very proud of our Scotch-Irish heritage, so that makes the rock idea even nicer! (Scotch-Irish? Scots-Irish? hmmm... even dictionary doesn't seem sure.)

I've never heard of STYX! I read that it's a concert, but I have no "clue" how old the group is, what age group they play for, what type of music they play or anything. Wow. If it's rock, I'm just not "into" that. Sorry. But my Dsis and Dbril sure are! Wow! They go to concerts in Vegas (they live nearby) all the time! Also, they have concerts where they live, near a Big Red Rock, or something like that, in the St. George, UT area.

It's a beautiful sunny day here, a bit on the cool side this a.m., but so beautiful out. Rains are on their way, especially for Seahawks Sunday's game, too, but from what I'm hearing on TV, it's putting the Hawks at an advantage to play in their Native rain!

I need to run. I just wanted to "pop in" to say good morning. My house is fairly clean, from getting ready for company and my birthday all week. I woke up 2.5 Lbs. lighter, I was able to move the notch over tighter on my jeans, my NEW panties are SAGGING in the butt, and my new jeans are loose, too! I just "know" it's from the Thyroid thing, too. But in mid-February, when I'm checked again, you never know! I might have a normal level again! One of my dear pen friends is going through the same thing, too, and we're both hoping for NOT having Thyroid cancer OR nodules, too! It's nice to have someone to talk to, who's going through the same lab checks, Dr. appt.'s and all, too. I guess you could say we're "Thyroid Sisters".

Have a GR8 day Everybody! I "might" do LOL or what the sheets today, if I get around to it. Believe me, for 2 - 3 days, I've been on the "GO" and today, I'm so exhausted! Slept in, so I got my beauty sleep, and will take it slow today. I'll focus on crocheting DGD's dress. ♥ Have a good one, Everybody!

Lynlee: thanks for the suggestion of the book. I've put it on hold at the library.

Dishwasher is done running so I should go open it to air dry.

No other real progress to report. We leave in about 10 minutes.

I KNOW WHO STYX ARE NOW!!!

I've been watching STYX videos and dancing to their music, for 20 minutes in my office this morning! The one song, "Babe," WAS familiar! ♥ It came out 35 YEARS AGO, I'm 63 now, so I forgot all about them! The 1 blonde singer looks so much like a high school sweetheart, too! You'll have a wonderful time at the concert and anyone would. The music is so much fun! And you can actually understand the words these men are signing--- unlike so many rock singers, which are just pure noise! So have an absolute BALL at your concert! Wow! You are just TOO LUCKY!!!! WTG!

I had to run to rehydrate, because when I dance, boy, do I ever move!

I have enough LOL for darks, lights, and sheets. It'll be good to be busy again today. My goal is to be able to wear Signature Levis in size 16. It's about time I finally get down, out of the 18's and into a smaller size. When you're a 2X/3X for years, getting down is a mini-celebration. Now, I need to take some Acetaminophen, for my left ankle and right knee! Me and my dancing like I was in high school! It doesn't mix with a 63 year old body anymore.
