Ah, I am home again. I was assigned to a group of 48 going to the criminal court room for jury selection, but after waiting around for awhile we were told we wouldn't be needed today. Just got home and checked local news website and the defendant plead guilty so won't be going to trial at all. Now I just have to call in each day after 5 p.m. to find out if I need to show up the next day - this for two weeks.

So today feels like a "found day." PODA, after rethinking taking the rest of the day off....
-routines
-desk day
-work on stamping area photographing and organizing stamps
-garage, that I didn't get to yesterday.

But first, I am going to start a lol and give myself a little down time.

Hello.

I have changed my alarm to a more reasonable time. Now I am hearing it instead of not hearing it and sleeping right through. 6:00 ain't gonna happen. I guess I'm sleeping too soundly then to hear it. Last night I dreamed and dreamed and worried and worried. Similarities between my life and a program I watched.

Doing the ongoing paper chase around here. OMM stuff straightened out at county office...people not doing their jobs again.... "oh, it's just that the computer automatically does this..." well fix the darn computer program. We need Elizabeth down there!

Hope Twins is enjoying her jury time...and that it does not turn out to be something distasteful to hear or long and drawn out. Oh, just read your post that you got to come home - great!

helia, yipes! Even with a clock on the wall and a watch on my wrist, I don't know how long I spoke! This is the mark of someone who hasn't done it in a while, isn't it? I believe I came in under the 45 mins. Yes, it is a podium and I was grateful because I did have those notes, which didn't look so obvious with the podium.

I tried to be engaging and get some responses but I guess this has traditionally been considered a one-person show. It seemed very difficult to me to overcome that. I stepped out from behind the podium to tell my anecdote (in two separate parts), specifically because I was trying to engage others. Only one other person really spoke up and added a complete thought, although there were laughs, and discussion after I had finished speaking. It was very well received and I got compliments. It's a pleasant group of 10-11 people, but some hardly know each other, I noticed.

This is not the kind of thing that makes me nervous (singing makes me nervous), and the chair, who is still nervous at the podium after a year as chair, commented that I seemed to have no nerves.

Completely lost an important verse I thought I had typed AND that I thought I could surely find in the book, anyway. That was the awkward moment, I guess. But after some false starts, I was able to quote it, leaning on my memory as a visual learner and "seeing" on a page of the book I couldn't find. I know dd35 can do this intuitively, but I have seldom felt I had the ability.

-finish up kitchen clean up
-do a tax projection for our "other son" in DC who is working as a consultant
-clear breakfast counter
-get rid of 10 pieces of paper on my desk

Great job Harriet!

I had breakfast and then got s2s for the day. Will change again later. Did my floor exercises so I don't have to do them tonight when I get home.

Then I walked the 2 km to the jeweler, left the rings for repair. Went to the bank on the way back and called dh from there to see if he wanted to meet me at the bagel shop, which he did. I stopped in at the thrift store and got two casserole dishes for the radiator. Then waited for dh and had lunch with him.

It was 0*F when I left and snowing a little bit. It is still snowing but the sun is out as well and the temperature is up to almost 10. On the way back I didn't wear my buff at all, ended up opening up my middle layer at the neck, and taking my mitts off because I was so warm.

Am vegging now and may have a brief nap. Dh is going through his music to get the set list together. Then we'll have to sing through at least once. I never actually performed this set with him because I came down with hepatitis.

Good morning everyone! I have finished the auction shawl, redesign and all! The yarn came out so nicely, I got some more to do the next shawl. Different pattern though. I did have to chart out two rows, just so I could visualize it better, but the pattern is repeat those two rows until desired length. I have started on that one. I have lots of pending things to do, but I will choose 3 for tonight: check emails for stuff from brother and lawyer, sew buttons on baby item donation (that will finish it), and work on the animal org scrapbook (bleah).

Today, I am 'on call' for one of my brothers. He is signing up at healthcare.gov and I told him he could call me at work, home, train, wherever. Most likely, the only help he needs is getting over the inertia to do it (a he SHE). My boss wasn't around for our usual Tuesday morning meeting, I assumed some other meeting had come up. I wish. He was taking a coworker to the ER. Some good news from the vet today: dFosterCat15 has giardia. Ok, that does not sound great to you I am sure, but the alternative diagnoses were chronic conditions. It is still possible there are chronic intestinal issues - the X ray and blood work indicated the possibility. However, this means that of the three known problems this cat has, two are easy-fix. Unfortunately, I will have to treat the whole household. I am almost certain Stratton also has it.

I've got CUBE STEAK cooking in my crockpot, with lots of gravy!

I did go to the party on Saturday and the X and the other woman were there. I hate having to be around them, but I refuse to let them drive me away from my friends. Although, I am even more irritated with the hostess friend than I was before. It came up in conversation that I was seeing a lawyer and getting my will redone. On discovering that my trustees were my parents, and if they could not do it my bank, my friend was horrified. I explained that I did not have confidence in my brothers' abilities to run an estate. Of course, she mentioned that I could get a friend to do it. Another guest kept pointing at the hostess every time she said friend. I have known the hostess since 1986. I have seen her pull colossal financial blunders, with frightening regularity, and no evidence of understanding of taxes, insurance, or any financial matters. In fact, whenever that sort of subject comes up, she displays disturbingly profound ignorance. She doesn't even know she doesn't know. Hades will freeze before she makes any decisions regarding my estate. Of other friends and relatives, there may be one who would be excellent, but I don't have any way of knowing. If it comes up again, I will tell her I want a hard nosed banker whose only interest is increasing the estate. (While that does not describe my parents, it does describe the people managing their accounts and estate). If that doesn't give her a clue, I will say our investment styles are too different. I am, of course, making sure that the X, the other woman, their family members, any step-relatives of DD, and any half-relatives of DD cannot become trustees, receive distributions, make decisions, or even get any documents.

I am getting yet another headache. I will eat lunch and a tylenol. Had a bad one Sunday, too.

I haven't CUOP yet, but just wanted to say.......YIPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! This morning I had my repeat mammogram and an ultrasound. I do have a cluster of ?cysts? they are watching & measuring however they haven't changed in the past year so I received the "your good to go for another year".

Realtor called while I was getting ultrasound to tell us...... we have a buyer for our home/land!!! It is a father/son team. The father wants the house & 10 acres and the son (a farmer) wants the rest of the acres They are paying cash so it should close quickly (she estimated 2 weeks). And again I say.....YIPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

What good news Lady M! Congrats all around!

So glad I "dodged the bullet" in not ending up on a jury in the criminal case. News had said that judge told him yesterday that there would be no more delays - his 6th attorney had withdrawn yesterday so judge had told him he needed to represent himself and that he was going to trial today.

Last week I didn't get a desk day and it shows. Along the way today I scheduled a bath for Moses and called Z back and then sent him a tax projection. I am running my washing machine again with chlorx and hot water after washing the dog harness yesterday. Some, uh, residue left behind. Sorry if TMI.

This time:
-start delicates in washing machine, assuming it smells better
-upstairs photo 10 stamp sets and add to Evernote
-phone call re: house guest this weekend
-straighten up MBedroom and bathroom
-package a single earring to send to artist - I lost the other one and we saw the artist last weekend at art show and she suggested sending it back to her and she will "see what she can do" to make another to match it
