hi again. I spent most of my morning on paperwork but it's done.

hi d kathryn. hope your dh has safe driving while he is out.

hi d lucy I understand also about cleaning out a loved ones fridge to see what is in the fridge. I bought salmon for d uncle and he didn't even know lol. I really enjoyed New Orleans too... I am not a drinker either and stayed away from fast places (as you can imagine) - I enjoyed the old city and architecture and the music everywhere.
(hope your ds gets there soon so you can start your day :D )

hi d harriet your dd sounds so sweet and cute! wishing both of them a lovely day. I had to smile at the growth spurt - I always noticed the boys arms always seemed to grow first and then the rest follows :D how cute.

2:49 pm
no house work done - but much done either way on paperwork and budget
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Hmmm... I wouldn't mind being at a ski resort, if I never had to go outside, and I could just curl up by a fire with a nice fluffy afghan and a book, and watch people on the slopes.
LOL lucylee! That's basically what I'm doing now. Dh and the kids have gone off for a 2nd round of skiing and I'm choosing to stay put. I'm sitting next to a roaring fire (gas, though still pleasant) with a cup of tea watching the skiers and snowboarders whiz past our condo. It is wooded here, so there are lots of trees too. . . It is sunny as well! So it is a pretty view, and a pretty day for skiing - just cold. Maybe the wind has died down.

Ooh, I do hope dd16 has a lovely time on her date, Harriet. Yes, I too am smiling at the vampire comment. I hope the young man smiled too.

First round of skiing: Well, first of all, it took about 40 minutes just to get situated. Ds, dd16, and I drove to the lodge, even though we are in a ski in ski out place, b/c dd16 is the one family member who doesn't have her own skis -- probably b/c when we bought the skis for the rest of the family, she was still growing. The three of us needed to rent helmets, and I needed to buy ski pants b/c I was in a hurry when packing and unwittingly packed my hiking pants, which are similar in color and style to my ski pants but much less helpful on a ski slope. So, I rented helmets for the 3 of us and skis for dd16. Then, ds needed his skis adjusted b/c he is using dh's skis (dh snowboards here since these slopes are so tame), so I made sure that was taken care of. Then, I finally went and bought some ski pants. Dh snowboarded down to the lodge with dd19. She just needed to rent a helmet. Dh is completely outfitted and didn't need anything. *phew*

I just stuck to some green slopes while dh and the kids went off and did other slopes. I haven't skied in 2 years and feel a bit rusty. Everyone else skied last year; dd16 went skiing a couple weeks ago. . . In terms of gear, I was very comfortable, even at the top of the slopes (I can't rightly call it a mountain but it would be an awfully big hill. . .) in the very strong winds. The only bit of my skin that was showing was the tip of my nose; we wear face masks and goggles; the helmets are quite warm on one's head, and I bought some really nice ski mittens a couple years ago. By the time we went in, around 1:45, my toes were getting pretty cold, but the rest of me was fine.

I am staying in b/c I was feeling a bit headachy. I took some advil. I don't typically get headaches, but I think the sun and the snow and maybe the cold? triggered something. I do have a sinus-y thing going on, but not very serious.

Yeah, I am not going to watch 50 Shades of Grey either, also for similar reasons. I've seen trailers and read a plot summary b/c I was curious what the movie was about, but I didn't find either very compelling or enticing. In fact, I thought the plot had some problems and found myself questioning what I saw as some holes/non-sequiturs. And watching S and M on the screen just doesn't strike me as a fun thing to do. . . . Moms group teachers have already forwarded 2 articles on the movie, but I haven't read them yet. I don't typically watch R movies, so I don't know if the material in this one is way over the top for an R movie or not.

Well, I think I just saw dd19 and ds ski by. . . . . LOL!! That probably means they're going to take the lift to the top so they can go down to the lodge and fetch the car to come home.

I've gotten the condo picked up and will now unload the dw and clean up the kitchen. Once everyone arrives home, there will be a mess again. . . .

Helia I was so nice and warm yesterday, I was sure you'll be fine today. Dh tried out ds's goggles yesterday and will be picking up a pair. He doesn't ski but said his eye sockets were getting cold in the wind and the goggles solve that problem quickly.

It is still miserable out. Glad I'm tucked in here. Would like a roaring fireplace like Helia is enjoying but will have to pass on that unless the fireplace is still on Netflix.

I've finished the service for tomorrow. Still need to learn a new hymn (although it sounds familiar so we may already know it) and practice the anthem.

Hello, villagers ~
The sewing group meeting this morning was fun. The program was thin and it was more of a social meeting than anything, but that's fine.

We were done early with the meeting, so I stopped at Sam's on the way home. So very cold in the parking lot because of bitter wind. Of course, being a Saturday they were super busy and I had to park farther away from the building, but stopping today saved me an extra trip to The Big City next week.

I'm sleep-deprived and really tired, but I'm afraid that if I take a nap this late in the day it will really disrupt sleeping tonight. I'm cold, too. I'm drinking hot coffee to try to help both problems.

My plan for tonight is to goof off and watch movies. I need to watch and/or delete shows to make room for the things I record on Sundays.

Well, late last night I lost a post and was too sleepy to recreate it. It was nice to sit here with my eyes closed and visualize the beach with the warm sand on my toes and watching the warm breeze pick up the white caps on the waves of an incoming tide! The beach we go to mostly, Sand Key, is a county park, a very family beach with white sand. There are no trees for shade except by the bath house, unless you count the row of cabanas for rent by the water! http://www.pinellascounty.org/park/15_Sand_Key.htm

I got the rest of the weekly conga done this morning, so I'm set for a few days except the routine 3-Ds.

Lilac, thank you for your comments re: dh's trains the other day. He has lots of stories of his family and Navy days I enjoy listening to. Ds#3 has said we should write down all these stories of both our families so they can be passed on to our grandchildren's children!
Blessed, I had the same idea as Harriet that your dd practice her PT exercises that she can do on her own at home. I'm sorry she has had such a hard time with the pain.
Harriet,dd16's date today sounds very nice. I hope she has an enjoyable time.
Dove, be careful walking on that slippy ice. Are you due for more snow this weekend?
Twins' I hope you are not as stiff/sore today.
Helia, sounds like you are enjoying your ski weekend. ;)
Nancy, what a wonderful surprise finding $$$, happy for you!
Harmony, buried bodies....that's one of those things one wouldn't expect to think about!
40° below? I would cease to exist!
LOL I don't think I would last too long in weather like that!

Movie: 50 Shades -- Don't think I'm interested in watching that movie either after reading about it and watching the trailers; just not my type of story.

Almost time for our evening meal. I think we'll have "Breakfast-for-Supper": French toast and bacon, and an orange.

I'm drifting along here and just realized it is dinner time. I need to hit the treadmill for at least a while. Will hope on while things are heating up (leftovers.) I'll give up on my biscuits since they are work. Will look for some French bread in the freezer.

helia, I hope your headache passes and you can enjoy the place. Yes, I'd agree the sunlight on snow probably had to do with it.

I saw some literary reasons not to read/see Fifty explained the other day. The main point was that marketing of the book (and now movie) was always misleading. Many other books within this "heat level" of erotic sub-genre of romance and with better plots have been better written than this one, and have been around a long time. They are all marketed as what they are, which keeps them "under the radar" of reviewers and never suggested for the (usual) movie-going public, no matter how well-written. There's a whole stockpile of them most people wouldn't have bothered reading before. Then somehow, Fifty gets marketed differently, as if it is new, and it's like The Emperor's New Clothes - in need of someone to say, "This book was never special."

lucylee, if sleet comes there's good reason to be cautious and disappointed. Enough of that and the big problems start, for sure. If snow came here Tuesday, folks would enjoy it. Unfortunately, what will come Tuesday will be ice. I hate that accu-weather image they use for ice. Looks like an old video game with bombs dropping.

Now to get the dishwasher running.

They arrived home safe and we sat and talked a while. The understudy for the female lead had had to perform, so there was a slight disappointment. Otherwise very pleased. Someone there - I'm thinking a glorified head usher? - was taking photos for anyone who wanted them in front of the exterior backdrop. So they have a very good photo now, although in outerwear coats. They found a Japanese restaurant without a line waiting and enjoyed a meal there.

Wasn't very windy when they got back but the wind kicked up so violently afterward that HRH even suggested the young man wait a while before leaving. HRH took a flashlight and went outside to look at the roof when we heard an especially unusual noise against the house, but saw nothing.

We definitely heard that sound of a freight train that many associate with tornadoes. From our porch we heard it passing to our north, from west to east, as clearly as if it were a train traveling a track. The sound was what I remember from Hurricane Hugo, but instead of a consistent noise all around, it was traveling slowly out there in the dark, with closer sounds of breaking branches traveling with it, and when it was gone it was gone. Wild.
