SIZZLIN' SATURDAY

Hello, villagers ~
We are definitely not sizzling here in Iowa, but the sun is shining. I mentioned to DH that it is almost nice enough to make a fire in the back yard chiminea to burn fallen branches, except they're probably still too wet. All of the snow has melted away but it hasn't been gone long enough to dry the wood.

Yesterday was errand day. I dealt with the sewing group newsletter at the printer. Next time I must remember take an old issue to show the layout, because I always seem to get the new employee who doesn't understand about printing on both sides of the paper and keeping the pages in numbered order.

Folded/tabbed/addressed/stamped the newsletters last night while watching a movie (The Croods), and mailed them on our way to lunch today.

The library is next door to the post office, so DH drove around the building to see the beginning of the construction project. The contractor has fenced off the lot and started excavation for the addition to the back of the building. It is starting ahead of schedule so we on the library staff are all very excited. DH was impressed at what they have done in the first 2 days of work.

We had a good taco pizza for lunch. We thought about going to a movie but DH wants to check with some old friends to see if they want to see the movie with us tomorrow.

That leaves me with the rest of today and this evening to do a project. Hmm... sewing or decluttering ... or alternating both?

60* today it's not sizzling here either.
More laudry is going. I've had lunch a short nap, & picked up the basement. Now it is time for the gazelle & I am stalling mojo needed.

Stupid wind is to blustery to enjoy it outside today ack flags are straight out.
I picked up the back yard it is dry from the wind so I set the sprinkler.

Not quiet sizzlin' here, but it is a beautiful sunny 78 degrees with no wind. I have spent a couple hours outside in flower & vegetable gardens.

This morning I bought 12 tomato/pepper plants and 28 different flowers. I have managed to plant about 1/2 of them in between doing other things.

LO is being a royal PITA. There. I said it. I am giving him an abundance of grace because this is day 2 of taking steriods. The meds has his emotions all out of whack. He has a crappy attitude, is doing all kinds of things that he normally doesn't do and is crying at the drop-of-a-hat. WHO is this kid?! I want happy LO back! ONLY ONE MORE DAY of these meds. I can do this. I can do this......

Thursday night at bath time, I realized LO neck was not red from a sunburn because his chest started turning red too. He wasn't having any other symptom so I waiting until pediatrician office opened Friday morning to get him checked out. I was afraid LO was having a reaction to his ADHD meds, but his doc said the meds was not the culprit. Doc thinks it is caused by something contact related (sprayed with or touched something his is allergic to). I have racked my brain trying to think of something different that LO has been exposed to, but can't figure it out. ANYway we have a tube of steroid cream to rub on his neck and giving him 3 days of steroids by mouth. The skin on LO neck isn't red anymore but is now dried/cracking like a bad sunburn. I have tried putting lotion on it but it stings too much. Normally I could talk him through the stinging but he is in no mood to listen. ONLY ONE MORE DAY of these meds. I can do this. I can do this......

LM - a little bicarb of soda (1/4 tsp) disolved in water can be an antidote for reactions. (not to be used very often) I'd add some to the bath water too. And personally, be iffy at continuing what I suspected to cause the reaction. Do you have any antihistamine? Soothing cream you know is ok?

DD and I did go to Ikea. I let her drive back. Even though we went the 'back' way, traffic was quite heavy -though not as bad as it was on I-4 I'm sure! DD's road warrior showed a lot of I-4 as 'red'. We moved right along but there were a lot of lights & cars. DD bought a new set of pots & pans -can't wait to use them as opposed to the old Teflon coated ones. Of course dsonil didn't see the reasoning behind new ones. The old were definitely old, bent, peeling, etc.

Harmony, it's quite cool here too. I put our electric fireplace on for a short time this morning & now I need to add a sweatshirt.

DD went to Plant City with dsonil. He worked overtime at the plant there most of the day -got home about 15 minutes after we did. Stated immediately that he needed to go back as he wasn't sure he had done something. Has to go back tomorrow too. I hear them coming now.

Guess it was a good thing he went back. What he was afraid he hadn't done was so. Took him a while to correct that. I had said when they left -see you about 7:30 & they walked in the door at 7:32. Good guess.

This morning I finally merged my minutes from the annual meeting with two others'. Think I have it done now. Tomorrow I plan to work on getting the minutes done from March's council meeting. Next meeting is April 13th so have time to get it done and sent to the secretary. I wasn't 'present' at the meeting as they didn't get the Skype working right.

Well, it seems like all of Arizona went to Sedona today. My goodness - the highway to the town was bumper to bumper!! Dh and I tried the trailhead to Cathedral Rock and it was full; circled - still no space. So, we went off to look at Sedona a little, came back, and were fortunate enough to pull in just as someone was leaving. About 4 cars were lined up behind us, vying for spots. The trailhead parking lot is very small, maybe spots for 12 - 16? cars.

The hike was very steep at some point, more like climbing than hiking as we went up a steep narrow crevice between 2 large rocks. A few hikers turned away at that point. Fortunately, (1) I wore my sturdy hiking boots, which I've worn on enough mountain hiking trips to know I can trust them, (2) I've been in the Alps, so it wasn't completely unfamiliar, and (3) dh has done a lot of mountain climbing and rock climbing (also in the Alps) so I trusted him. He only wore his strapped teva sandals (and the backpack) and was fine. The views on top were spectacular! I was sure sweaty and hot by the time we got to the top, though. We rested, drank water, ate an apple, and enjoyed the views. On the descent, I was pleased at how well we did, especially down the crevice. It was much easier than I had anticipated. I knew I could trust my boots to provide solid footing. By the time we got down, I was hot and sweaty again. I wore capris (for exercising) but kind of wished I'd worn shorts. The sun was intense.

I took a nap once home. Now, we're getting ready for dinner.

I worked myself into a slump today. Besides all the decuttering and getting it all out of the house, I did a whole bunch of cooking and the kitchen was a wreck. I sure own those days I eat leftovers and there's not much to do. Gathered the shredding and the office garbage. Big can to take out. Tonight DH wanted a hair cut and I didn't think I had the energy but somehow managed to do it. Done for the night!

LadyM, I can remember feeling hyper when taking steroids.

Board is a bit faster for me now. I think it's our internet. 2 days ago it went down twice and I had to reboot. It's been a little slow ever since. I should call them.

It's not really sizzling here, of course -- high today was in the 40s and it felt brrrrr... MUCH colder!

I think I've been pretty lazy and worthless today, but I do have a few small ta-da's:
* s2s, Bible reading
* s/s two toilets
* s/s dh's shower
* wrote checks & mailed 4 bills and 1 birthday card
* washed and dried sheets (they are still in a pile on the bed, though)
* talked to dmom on phone
* talked to pool table lady on the phone -- but she isn't the one who has the info I need
* got phone numbers for two local moving companies (will call them Monday)

Watched a lot of old cowboy shows this morning, and guess what? Charles Dickens visited the Ponderosa. LOL -- that sounds like I was having a hallucination/dream or something, doesn't it? But that was the plot line -- Dickens visited Virginia City to do a reading for the literary society. Then he got all mad b/c he found out the newspaper was publishing one of his stories in serial form, and he had made no legitimate American copyright agreements with anyone here -- so there was lots of problems arising from that. (I know the copyright trouble is real, and Dickens' superior attitude was most likely real too, LOL! He did NOT have a very high opinion of the colonies, from what I have read. But he was treated like a rock star -- people actually chased after him and tore at his clothes! * Not in Virginia City, for good or bad reasons, but in other places I have read about.)
If I were still teaching, I would probably have taped it and let my classes watch. Then someone in the Head Shed would have complained.

LadyM I gould not figure out why Lo was a pita sandwich untill I thought about it the. I got it! LOL!

I felt puny today zero energy, ear acting up a bit and achey shoulder. Doing better now.

Tonight roo training is going well the roo when i to the roo house all by his own after I closed up the run left to coop door open. For more on this look in the productive back yard thread.

I picked up the back yd. & got a 1mi. Walk in . Wondering how many steps in a mile google says 10,000 I usually walk further than that.
I am enjoying a special on Nat geo. Ch on the apostles.

I have not done any sewing, but I have done lots of decluttering and recycling or throwing away.

Somewhat concerned that my little calendar with all of my training notes from work is not in my purse. Before I start to really worry, I will search my car tomorrow morning and, if it isn't there, I'll go to the library and look around the office at work.

I've been hoping for several months that my coffee maker would die so I can get a K machine like DSis's. I think I'm finally getting my wish. Yesterday the coffee maker started making odd loud noises. Tonight I ran vinegar/water mix through it to see if that would help. I just found some water on the counter under the maker. The carafe is fine, the water leaked from the machine itself. It is many years old and I'm surprised it kept working this long, so I certainly got my money's worth out of it.

I have a little 4-cup coffee maker that I will try tomorrow. If it still works ok, it will give me time to look around for a new K. I know there are a lot of different models with multiple features.
