CathyS, Krusteaz anything is wonderful. Be it muffins, cookies, pancakes, waffles, cornbread. etc. We do like Jiffy cornbread mix, also.

I have seen Jersey Boys before with the girls, but dh has it on and so I am watching it with him, while I am on the computer.

I have had some much needed quality time with our girls and their families last night and today. The ribs were fantastic but we had about half of them left. So I divided them up 3 ways. Next time we will just do 4 racks. I left potato salad and deviled eggs with dd2. I also left some of both desserts and sent some home with dd1 also.

It was in the 80's today and will be again tomorrow.

I always buy honey butter for dinner rolls. Dd1 couldn't find any today so made her own. It was so delicious. I won't be buying it again and will make my own after I use what we have.

Sunny, it's so nice that ds3 and his dfamily are visiting. Enjoy all the memory making times with the 3 families together.

I had read an egg hunting tip. Assign each person a color and that is the only color they can pick up. It makes it last longer. Then as usual our kids wanted to hide the eggs for the adults. They did such a fine job of hiding the eggs that 2 different colored eggs were never found.

helia, that is neat that your family received gifts from GG. I am sure she treasures the memories of her time with your family.

Nancy, I have occasionally missed a dose of insulin. Hate when that happens.

Kathryn, I have enjoyed your cruise but will be glad when you are safely home.

The work in our bedroom screeched to a halt yesterday. The bi-fold closet doors will need to have 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch cut off of them. They rub the carpet and are hard to open. Dh and I went to M enards around 6 and bought him a table saw, so he will be ready to hit it tomorrow.

Back on track with my meds now. I spilt dinner with h to save carb.

None of the corn bread mixes taste like moms bc they are so sweet so we call it corn cake here! LOL!

Did a pedi cure.
Dish washer had been rebooted sink scrubbed, counters still need attn.
got the mattress flipped and clean sheets back on the bed.

We did enjoy Easter @ dd's & sils weather was good sun came out for the egg hunting part. I did oxkay with food I can use the brocoli cheese casarolle idea again! The other granny us better.

Martha White Cornmeal Mix - buttermilk is best, in my opinion, but the original is very good, too. The reasons you want it - traditional cornbread. It's got a corn meal texture rather than flour texture, white not yellow colored, and makes a bread, not a sweet cake. Jiffy makes a fine-textured muffin or corn cake, as Nancy says, because it has so much flour percentage to it and is sweet, and so it's always going to say "muffin" on the packaging. There is also a Martha White product in competition with it, called Martha White Sweet Yellow Muffin Mix in packets. Frankly, I've never seen the one beginning with a K (spelling?) so I don't believe anyone around here carries that one. TendaBake is also good if you can find it. I've bought other Bob's Red Mill products and am sure their cornmeal would be good quality, but have never had it.

I prepare the skillet first while the oven warms (other baking pan will work - I just have some good inherited iron skillets). If you start with melted butter, the ingredients will mix best. Don't overmix. For a smaller cake of cornbread in, say, an 8-inch skillet, you can reduce the ingredients to 1.5 cup mix, 1 cup milk, 1 egg and 2 T butter and cut baking time to about 20 mins. That's my standby for our family. We get out the glasses to pour milk over the bread while it's still warm. Cornbread and milk in a glass is comfort food. Or, with beans and put some butter on the warm bread.

Here I buy corn meal (Quaker or Indian Head) and follow the recipe on the bag. You can adjust the salt and/or sugar to suit your taste. I like to leave out the salt completely. We just had cornbread on Good Friday with fish. I had forgotten how easy it is to make! Planning to make more soon.

Twins' Mom, what a sweet opening for us today.

I had the good sense to let dd and our bass singer lead this morning. I just gave bits of advice at rehearsal. The other soprano arrived to say hello but left for work. Bass singer insisted on switching mics/places with dd and putting her more out front with - he thinks - a stronger mic. Perhaps it helped because they did beautifully and were complemented much.

Just stopped singing myself (which I never do - it's all congregational) so that I could hear them better - it warmed my heart. I was so proud of dd today, very ladylike and calm, adding so much to the service, modest clothing. While some others arrived in - well - slutty stuff just because they thought they'd wear a dress for Easter and I guess that's all there is in the closet? I mean, backless? Really?

Bless their hearts.

Big crowd today, pews filled, big breakfast served prior. A sheet cake that was a giant bunny, lol. Maybe we went just a little overboard. (smile)

Even though I didn't press my voice/throat too much, I still ended up with a coughing fit that didn't respond to the hard candy in my purse, and had to walk out of the service.

I can only say I wasn't the only one. A lady on the other side tried much too long to stay seated and really had a time with it. I felt sorry for her. Hanging out in nursery, the ladies there said many people seemed to be suffering with nagging coughs.

Back home, napped and awoke with a really, really sore throat. Sigh. I need to get better.

Church today... Movie and Wmart tonight... Dgs tomorrow. Anxious to see him, you know -- he's been gone since Thurs.
