I walked a mile outside - got me up to 3300 steps, one-third of my goal. As I went out the front door a neighbor and her ddd were walking by so I walked with them and talked. I hate walking w/o my dogs so it was nice to be with them.
This time:
-s2s
-make the bed
-reboot laundry
-deal with 10 pieces of paper from desk
-email re: pressure washing and rug cleaning
Ready, set, go!

Floors are vacuumed, office dusted and tile floors are mopped.
First load of ds's laundry is done and folded, second is in the dryer.
He picked up an extra shift last night (midnight to 5:30) and is now out hiking with his dad. He has a 3:30 to 11 shift tonight. He's over full time hours for last shift (he's worked 79.5 hours over the last 7 days) and just was informed he's in overtime for the next schedule block (a period of 6 weeks.) Normally, you can work heavy hours like he has and have the overtime shifted to another pay period but for the next while he can't do that either so if he's called in for extra shifts (like last night) they have to pay him overtime because there's nowhere to shift the hours to.
In the meantime, he slept 10 hours yesterday and napped after work this morning for a few hours but in general is hiking on empty. I told his father to get him back here as soon as possible so he can nap. He has clothes here to change into (because I'm doing his laundry!)
Twins: Have you calibrated your fitbit to your stride length? I thought you were as tall as me and that seems a high step count for one mile. (My sister is that high but she's 2.5" shorter than me.) Could be I just have long legs.
I just went down a dead-end with my sister. She posted on FB that she was assaulted on the subway (not physically injured, was shoved around) so I called to see how she is. She's mad at the subway worker because that woman wouldn't do anything unless my sister agreed to calling the police. I'm not sure this is reasonable. This morning my sister is even more angry at the transit staff that the guy who assaulted her.
She still won't file a complaint with the police or even the customer service line at the transit company. She says both are useless so she's contacting reporters and using FB to warn others about this creep (so far she's heard of three other women assaulted in the same area.)
To me, it seems like she's angry she was helpless when assaulted and now is lashing out at everyone else and expecting them to take up her cause for her (although she won't file a complaint herself.) So she's started a vigilante response to the situation, getting people to spread the word to 'protect women.' She's mad because no-one will do anything and pretty soon the security footage will be written over. The fact that she can attempt to save that footage by telling the police her story doesn't register with her. It is all someone else's job to do this.
In my case, I felt
"Just because someone needs to be told something, doesn't mean you have to be the one who tells them." Harriet's DM.
doesn't apply but telling her didn't get results either.
Cathy: my previous minister had extreme vertigo and was told to stay off all screens for weeks and weeks. I got my updates on her through her husband. I know you want to keep in touch with us, but you might need to have Wayne post directly here on your behalf or by emailing one of the moderators to post for you.

((Kathryn's sister)) (who would be helped by calling the authorities who have a NEED to know her story)
((Cathy)) I'm so sorry. Unfair! you're in my prayers.
That quote makes you stop and think, yes. I am struggling with these thoughts as I try to decide how I should or should not step in to the fuss between my cousins. I would hope I could try to stop a "forever rift" between them from happening.
It was teaching day for me at church, and we had a good lesson. I think everyone enjoyed it. Several mentioned to me that they were so proud of ds for promotion to deputy chief. Several said how pretty dgdC is. I suppose this is the result of so much interaction on facebook where photos can be seen. I've learned that firemen are likely to be active on fb because they do a lot that is photographed with others - community events, etc. Ds is much more open with his fb than dd35, who doesn't let many folks see family photos.

Our trail today is taking us to the county landfill! Going to dump the broken trash compactor and a box spring from dmil's house.
(((Cathy))) My dmil suffered terribly from vertigo. Meds did help, but sometimes she just had to lie still with her eyes closed. It kinda runs in her family, too -- her niece has problems with it as well.
LOVE Harriet's dmom's quote also... I keep it on one of my 3x5s!
Harriet, what would your dmom say about these feuding cousins? Would this be a time that they DO need to be told something?
So sorry about Kathryn's dsis being assaulted, and for Kathryn being so frustrated with trying to talk to her. (((HUGS)))

Ds and dh are back. They hiked just over 3 miles. Dh was fine all the way up and for 1/4 of the way down. He says I could describe his knee pain for the rest of the way. He's fine now as long as he's walking on level.
They had bacon and eggs for lunch and ds is in bed now.
No word from MF on whether or not he's coming over or if we are meeting up tonight. Whatever. All of dh's conference calls are canceled for today so I wouldn't have even tried to set something up if I knew dh wasn't busy.
I'll work on the kitchen chores now and finish those up and then figure out what the monthly zone is for this week.

Weekly kitchen chores are done. I'm also running the self-clean cycle on the oven as it is cool today and hopefully the last cool day for months to come. This is the first time I've cleaned the oven since moving in and it wasn't very dirty at all. Mid-winter it was a bit dirty and I did a quick hand scrub of it to get the worst off before cooking a big dinner and then forgot to properly clean it after. It seems to semi-clean itself pretty well but I do run it at 430 degrees weekly for the faux fried fish so that might be what is burning off stuff. Plus we hardly use the main oven at all, mostly for baking and the fish. The counter top oven handles most of our meals because it heats up faster.
Ds has headed to work. I think I might head for a nap.

Store run done, I dropped off donations, grabbed some take out for dinner. Popped in for a few min. To the knitting meeting. Another storm coming. Poofers.

After that round, I took ds to have pants hemmed and to drop off his "interview" clothes at cleaners. Dropped him at home and went back out - walked through a consignment shop near here - it's always fun to see what's there, then got a few forgotten things at grocery. Dd is going to make pesto and cook up cheese tortellini tonight and I'm going to try adding some zucchini "noodles" to give me a bigger portion with less bad stuff. I also found a Starbucks iced coffee in large 6 serving bottle; ds could finish it off in two days, but it's a nice treat for me with some skim milk added. It is "lightly sweetened" w 11 g of sugar - could be worse I guess. I need to make some iced coffee concentrate for the two of us for summer - it's a nice late afternoon "pick me up" for energy if I don't over do it.
I need to do the desk day round, checking on bank accounts and mother's credit card and backing up things. Setting the timer for 25 min to see how far I can get.
Oooooh, just check on Harriet's book she mentions and it's available at the nearest branch of the public library, might try to pick it up tomorrow.

Hi everyone! Last night was productive: I bought the swamp cooler parts, paid bills, updated Quicken, got a grad gift, and put tags and registration on new (to me) car. Had a quite perturbing sight in my bedroom. No, not the usual LOLs not put away, but bloody pawprints in the window, and a trail of blood to the sewing room. It wasn't a horrible amount of blood, one drop every 2 to 3 feet, but that is never a good thing to see. However, I cannot figure out which cat was bleeding. The window + sewing room aspect lead me to suspect Briggs or Stratton, but NO ONE has scabs or marks.
This morning, I got to sleep late, because I had a mammo appointment in town. Took care of that and got a haircut after. Today at payroll, I am working on a special project that is outside my area of expertise. I'm learning though.
My garage door fix failed and I am not sure how to really fix it. Elizabeth's Own Handyman Service needs to get some advice at the hardware store, but not tonight, I have DD13.
I have a list of 5 things to get done tonight (none can be done before I get home):
- Ream swamp cooler 'spider' (must be done while DD is around as it is on roof)
- With DD13 - clean up her room and make space for the stuff she brought from the x's house (lower priority than roof work)
- Respond to email from animal org requesting document comments (no, I have not read the document yet)
- Buy and sign card for grad
- Church website work - post June calendar and info from it, post the two newest newsletters

What book did Harriet mention? Or was it back a ways?
