(I am making a real effort to spend a little more time with my Bible study, not just rushing through it, as I sometimes have done.)
-- 45 min on computer, transferring pictures from camera and phone to computer, labeling, organizing, etc
-- 30 min outdoors, walked 2 miles with dh
-- talked to dmom on phone -- she sounded good, after having a rough day yesterday. Dh and I took her a RX and some bananas yesterday, but she seemed to be much better today.

Afternoon y'all.

Had a wonderful early morning walk with Sweetie at the zoo. Nothin' like the roar of a lion to get you moving.

We stopped and ate lunch at the Minder Binder which is one of Mr. Guys favorites. The place has been there for 50 years and is PACKED with memorialbilya from the Hoolywood movies.

Three cops sat in a booth next to ours and I happened to notice a poster that was on their wall. It was a huge picture of a hand wrapped around a revolver pointed straight at the reader with the comment...we shoot, we don't call 911.

I laughed out loud when I read it and pointed out to Sweetie. When our server came to our table Sweetie pointed to the sign and asked the guy if he had seated the cops there on purpose. I wish you could have seen the look on the poor guy's face after he read the sign and then looked at the cops... It was PRICELESS

Returned 2 pairs of jeans to S am's today that were too big for dh. Oh my! I was at the counter for over 45 minutes with what ended up being 5 people trying to figure it out. Ended up that they gave me a gift card for the amount. The long guy working there was lamenting that he didn't get a picture for FB with all these gals trying to figure out this one return on the computer.

Went to dsil/dbil's from there and got a few things to take back to dh. We never broached the subject of gd -dsonil had said he'd rather not say anything right now. So that's the way I left it. Perhaps over the next couple of weeks dh will begin to tell dbil.

I'm going to close down my computer and get it packed up and put in my trunk. That way I won't have it to mess with in the morning. I'm hoping to leave around 6:30-6:45. That's my plan. The rest of the car is pretty well packed. Still need to do the cooler in the morning. If I need more space I have a 2nd small cooler in the garage. I can get things pretty well unplugged tonight. We're going to Trivia about 6:30 and will be gone till near 10:30 so want to get it all done before then. I might be able to post from my K indle tomorrow rather than opening the computer.

I'm stopping in Ocala to see friends for maybe 1/2 hour.. Then I'll be on my way.

Note to self: not to worry about Dee not posting over the next few days. If I forget, I hope you have an easy and restorative drive up north.

Dinner is in the oven cooking. I'll be tight or over on calories today but that's because of several choices I made consciously. There's no potato for my dinner, just veggies fresh and cooked.

We tasted the meatloaf at the bagel shop and it was to-die-for. Made me interested in making dh meatloaf again. I used to make it years ago and then the kids didn't like it so I took it out of rotation. It isn't great as a diet food but better in some ways than burgers because you don't have the bun. I know I could have a burger with out a bun but it isn't the same. I've tried it many a time.

Hope y'all have a good trip back, Dee -- we'll miss you while you're on the road!

Another example ^^^ of "housework done (very) imperfectly." I have lowered my standards. Hush -- I can hear y'all LOL! Everybody's saying "HOW IN THE WORLD COULD LUCY LOWER HER STANDARDS? SHE ISN'T DOING ANYTHING TO BEGIN WITH!!!"
Well, right, I haven't been doing anything, much... but I've been feeling sooo terrible and guilty about NEVER getting the WHB done in a week (not even considering doing it in an hour). I mean, I NEVER get to ALL the vacuuming/dusting/bathrooms in a single week.
So.
I have placed my cards so vacuuming is one week and dusting is another.
The plan is to do this on Tues. but it generally gets done piece-meal, T-F. If I finish vacuuming, say, on Friday, then I really don't want to get started on it again on Tuesday... so I thought to heck with it, let's just try to establish some habits to do one or the other each week.
Still trying to get bathrooms s/s at least every other day, and the problem shower weekly.
We'll see how this goes.

Another reason today's efforts were very imperfect is that I am not satisfied with any method of duster.
I used cloth and the D utch A mish W ood M ilk (as seen on tv ) along w/feather duster on louvered doors, tight spaces, etc. I am just not completely sold on the tv product. It says spray directly on the surface, but I prefer to spray my cloth first, then wipe.
I am DEFINITELY not sold on feather dusters, b/c I don't care what F lylady says, I think they stir up a lot of dust. However, they do reach places that are otherwise almost impossible to get at.
I guess nothing is perfect, but around here it's a certainty that ANYTHING is better than NOTHING, so I'm making progress.

Yet another reason today's efforts were very imperfect is that the computer room is in SERIOUS need of reorganization, decluttering, etc. It is hard to clean around book shelves that are piled precariously with all manner of papers, projects, etc. Projects -- the scarf wreath I want to make... the photo books I'm working on... the stuff that needs to be scrapbooks... on and on. It's ridiculous.

Best wishes to Kathryn too, for decisions, and knee management. I'm glad the meds are working for you. You might check that the IB and the voltaren (?sp for both) are different families, so you don't go over upper limit of whats allowed if combining use of both. ( I forget what I found about those two as the oral meds didn't get along with my fussy internal system.)

With my shoulder I am trying to keep up the mobility, while not overdoing things with too many repetitions. I ort to try the creams/ointment again. Daily use it is getting.
I've still been going down to the city outskirts for support group on Thursdays. I think its helping. I've been leaving earlier and it takes me 1hr15min due to congestion getting past schools and also onto highway. (The roundabout before the on ramp gets backed up.
My gamble yesterday was on fuel prices. I drove on from the 145.9c per Liter twice (sat in car to eat lunch at 2nd one), took up the one 20 min from home for 131.9c. Back at home town I could have saved an extra 1c p.l., if I'd known.
I'm realising the other cost of going down, is less done on Wed to save energy, and less sleep Thursday night because I'm a bit wired up, and recovery needed on friday.

I have a deliberation and decision to make re opportunity next week, and to figure out how to get around difficulties if I want to take that possibility.

Lynlee: I talked to the doc about ibuprofen and Voltaren together since the two are both NSAIDs and he said I could sub one for the other but to avoid taking a pill and putting on the cream at the same time. He said it was a theoretical risk but he didn't want me forming bad habits. Since finally getting a way to consistently take the ibuprofen (using the silent alarm on the fitbit), I haven't felt the desire to use the Voltaren. A pill I can pop. Voltaren gel involves rubbing into the knee and then getting my hands well washed. If I wake up in the night and need immediate relief, then I'd go for the Voltaren (there's 10 hours between my bedtime and morning pill so if I wake up after 2 a.m. I'm more likely to go for the gel.

Left leg is achy this evening, probably due to the biking and stretching when I put my foot down. I'll do a round of physio soon to try and short-circuit the discomfort. This is an example of ibuprofen not working, I took the pill 90 minutes ago and feel no better.

Dinner is all cleaned up.

I also 'fixed' our blu-ray so we can play Netflix's Frankie and Grace. It was the only show that wouldn't play so we watched the first episode on our computer. Turns out more than one thing had to be refreshed to get it to work and after 30 minutes I triggered the second item. Our blu-ray player also lost the ability to play Youtube videos in April. Not a big loss but still annoying. It would be more annoying if we owned a 60" Smart TV that stopped working. Apparently, Sony devices prior to 2012 are affected, among others.

I'm so sorry I have not had time to keep in touch here. I know there has been a lot going on. It has been an eventful week for all of us in the village, to put it mildly.

Feel free to skip this check in, I'm just doing it to document for future reference. I haven't gotten enough sleep all week so I'm already having trouble remembering what happened which day.

* Saturday was the library's big book sale

* Sunday DMIL was moved from the hospital into a hospice facility. All of the siblings discussed funeral arrangements and made tentative plans based on DMIL's stated wishes.

* Monday mid-morning the news came that the doctor at the hospice house said DMIL would only live at most a couple of days longer. DH worked all day but afterward drove up north to sit with his DMom and siblings all evening. I did chores in the morning, ran the sewing group's newsletter to the printer right after lunch, and then stopped for gas and groceries on the way home. I worked my regular evening shift at the library. Then I processed the sewing newsletters for mailing.

* Tuesday morning at 8 DSisIL called to say that DMIL died peacefully in her sleep about 12:30a.m. DSisIL said there was no reason for us to go up north, that everyone was going to take a day off now that DMIL was out of pain. We were so short-handed at the library that I went in as scheduled from 9 to 1. DH stayed home from work but I knew he would sleep for almost all of the time I was away. After we went out for lunch, I did the library group's month-end financials and other meeting prep.

* I should also note that Tuesday morning when I was rushing to get to work, I tripped over something on the way to my car and went flying. Luckily I got up with just scraped hands and a lot of bruises -- and a bunch of stickyburrs! I was a lot more mindful of where I walked the rest of the day.

* Wednesday (that was yesterday, right?) I worked the paying gig from 8a to 4p then came home to cook supper and wash a mess of dishes. I checked the website for my walk-in hair place and saw they stayed open until 9p on weeknights. I had a library volunteer meeting at 6:30p that was supposed to last 45min. but went on for 1 1/2 hrs. After that I jumped in the car and raced to The Big City to have my hair trimmed. When I got home I did a load of laundry because the clothing situation was getting a bit desperate.

* Today I worked at the library 8:30a to 4:30p. Since supper I've been relaxing with tv and a book. I threw a load of laundry in the washer and it has taken so long to type all this that now it's time to switch it to the dryer. I'm going to bed in a few minutes so I'll finish drying and fold it in the morning. It's just DH's socks, he doesn't care if they're wrinkled.

The funeral is tomorrow at 3, and it will take us at least 1 1/2 hours to drive there. There will be a celebration of her life in the evening so we will be up there until late.

We don't have anything else planned for the weekend because we aren't sure when they want to do more work on DMIL's house. There is still a lot of stuff to take care of there before it can be sold.

That's most of what's been happening in my life lately. Next week is supposed to be a lot less hectic! I won't be such a rude friend then and will respond to what y'all have been posting.

(((Booksaver and family))) I am so sorry for your loss. I'm glad her family got some to sit with her, and hear her wishes.

Harriet - Puppy (15yo this month) had to become used to being shut in the house while I went to the far side of the city from the very start. Back then the days away were far longer. Weekly then too. He was 3 mths when I got him. Yes we had to work a little on separation anxiety. And he had to get used to visiting and sleep overs at dd's, and their dog and then baby now strapping dgs15. A fond memory is the pair of them sitting shoulder to shoulder tussling over playing with a fringed cloth over a coffee table. A little silent shouldering was going on.

Kathryn - I thought it would be one or the other - medication to swallow or cream.

Going to walk dog. Washing is out on the line. My effort (it seems) for the day.
