Happy Anniversary, Nancy and her Mr.! I apologize I didn't go look at our site for July.

I had never heard of the silicone rings either until a friend got one for his wedding last year. Since then, we've known several to get them for obvious reason. I've known of several who had the regular rings caught. Nice thing about these, if you find one you like, is that they remove easily or are cut off easily and are pretty inexpensive. Dh is very happy with his.

DD and dgs10 have joined ddil#2 and dgs2 for a trip to the children's museum in the city. DD has been looking forward to this. Dh would actually like to go some day. We were going to see "Inside Out" today, but dh would like to go, so are going on Monday.

Sounds like the acquaintance needs to have more going on in her own life, harriet. Reminds me a bit of a Jane Austen character - in a bad way. To be clear, I love Jane Austen. I think she's a brilliant writer, but sometimes I feel like telling the characters, "Get a life! There's got to be more for you to do in your time and context than socializing and trying to manage everyone else's lives. . . " There. True Jane Austen confessions. :)

Also, I thought you were given mighty short notice for a lunch party this Saturday. Yes, with such a long time frame, I'd guess like Twins that it may be a drop by affair? At least, that's probably how one here would take it. I certainly would operate that way b/c I don't have 4 hours to spend at any party, especially smack in the middle of a Saturday.

More I want to say, but I need to get going. . . I got completely sidetracked this a.m. working on decluttering my inbox. I went back to it after I last posted. I'm too embarrassed to even say how many messages I started out with. Let's just say, I have cleared out over one thousand, and there are plenty more thousands to go. . . .I deleted the majority; a couple had photos that I nabbed and then deleted. One had an email address which I may want. I'll check with dh. It did feel good, and it is inspiring me to tackle the mountain of papers on the desk, my work files, my moms group files, and Quicken. . . . Ack!! Now, I'm feeling overwhelmed. I think I should just talk about one of those at a time. . .

Off to meet with my mentee.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MR. DEE!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, NANCY & DH!

HAPPY CANADA DAY!

Hello to everyone! I've had a slow start to my day. It's hard to think that half the year is gone already, wondering where all that time has gone.

I've spent most of the day puttering at small odd jobs along with routines. One of the things I did was to ensure our safety from a trip/falling hazard. The area rug in our living room has a curling edge at the corner by the front door, a place to be extra careful when entering the room. Also the ddogs like to take turns laying in that doorway and because of their breed have a habit of sticking that one back leg out straight! They always end up pushing their foot under the rug and make it curl even more. Ddil gave me a package of double stick rug tape, so today I got strips cut and stuck along the edges. I'm hoping it holds tight for a while, at least.

I have also deleted about 850 emails, balanced my checkbook, updated my planner for the month.

((Twins)). Those are always hard decisions to make to keep our loved ones happy, comfortable and safe.

(Twins). Such hard decisions, but I'm glad for you there is help available.

Happy Anniversary to Nancy and Hubby.

Happy Canada Day! Now I must google that and see what it's all about.

RRose, trip sounds like fun. I was just reading about the unusual amount of sharks along the North Carolina coastline. Stay safe!

Harriet, I'm not very social either, so I really understand your dilema. It took a while for my SisiLaw to realize I didn't have the time or the inclination to pal around all the time.

Looked up those rings on the web...they're very inexpensive. My question is how easily do they break away when needed? I didn't find an answer anywhere about that. Not that I think DH would wear one...just think they're interesting. He wears his regular ring to church and youth group but that's about all. I take my diamonds off and just wear my skinny band most of the time. I get less irritation from soaps that way.

Must be feeling better today, energy is coming back. I got everything on my last list done, made the trip to job with pictures to post, all phone calls made, and I'm working on a file... I soaked a pot of beans to cook. It's so nice to finally start feeling more like myself.

No airplanes - it was too cloudy.

Then the sun came out for a short while.

I worked on the balcony plants, repotted one, then another, putting the soil away and discovering two more that needed repotting. So hauled out the soil again. All were well watered.

Then the storm came! Now everything is really well watered. I've never seen it rain so hard, completely soaking everything on the balcony, including the windows. If I took a squeegee to them, they'd be clean in a moment (but it is too wet to go out!)

I had lunch at 2 and watched an episode of Nashville.

Since 3 I've tidied up the kitchen a bit more, started a load of laundry, cleaned my bathroom, put out fresh towels, and slipshod vacuumed the apartment.

Dh just remembered it was month end because it is a new month. That reminds me to print off that check list and start in on the monthly declutter project. As I recall, it starts easily with the fridge. Mine is kept pretty empty so that task should be easy.

Hi everyone! Today started off ABYSMALLY!!! Although I left BEFORE my usual time, I got to the train station late, pulling into what was probably the very last parking space. I could hear the train coming in as I got out of the car. Purse spilled as I got out. I dropped and retrieved some meds, but when I got to the train, no wallet. It got better when I got a phone call from someone who found it. She guessed that I might be a state employee and tracked me down. We are meeting at the station, she takes the same train home. I took a bus to Starbucks and bought a gift card for her.

Got some stuff done last night, but not as much as I wanted: errands, LOLs, cooking, pack dance bag, DPC.

Tonight is dance class, and after that, there is a boatload of stuff to do:
Email catchup
Church webwork (at least post the July calendar)
Reservations (trip coming very soon)
Pay two bills
Declutter challenge - kitchen equipment (did not get to it yesterday)

There are many other things in the queue, but those are the highest priorities. I am looking forward to SLEEPING LATE every day for the holiday weekend.

I hope Harmony is doing better. I once had a three day migraine, so it is possible for them to last a while. Unfortunately, this one DID have the headache. My then-MIL convinced me to try one of those Atkins/paleo/similar diets while visiting on the theory that they affect blood sugar. It did, at that, it made mine significantly WORSE. I tried the diet for exactly one day and paid for it for three.

Suggestion for TwinsMom's brother: use sliders on shoelaces. This worked for me after I broke my finger. Took me a whole year to relearn how to tie my shoes! They can be found at fabric stores, and probably at camping type stores, because they are used to close camping bags.

Lucylee:
your phone's auto-corrupt made me laugh! Yes, we have Herefords and I'm sure some Canadians travel to the US for conventions regarding Herefords but I'm willing to bet you wrote "here for" and it was helpfully 'corrected'!

I did most of my weekly kitchen chores and did a super duper job on the fridge, so day one of the clutter challenge has been accomplished.

The weather here is crazy - rain, wind, cold, brightening, currently a touch of sun but this is the second time we've been through the cycle today so I'm sure more rain will come.

Are you sure they're not from Jersey, lucylee? Whatever you are typing on does not respect your intelligence.

dd thinks you are on an iphone.

Elizabeth, that is amazing that a wallet dropped under a car could be returned so efficiently.

I see Kathryn wondered as well.

ROFLOL!!! Yep, iPhone thinks it knows more about the Canadians than I do. No one has mentioned cattle.
They said it was a 23-hr drive to Toronto.

Still raining. Battery is going to run out before the game starts!
