At dinner. My services went well. The narrative was smoother at the first service but every one stayed for 15 minutes after asking me lots of questions.

Got truck windows done inside and out. Put new paperwork in there for the new license plate.

Cleaned up more dishes, I think they're multiplying. Gathered up all the garbage and got that & recycling out. Typed big long email for DH. Cleaned up some more out-of-place things around here. Someone must be coming in at night putting everything out on the surfaces...I don't know how it got so bad in here. I'm really crabby because I'm so tired and there's so much work. Going to get a sandwich and go lay down.

Kathryn, at least you know they're listening when they have questions to ask! Have you seen DS's new car yet?

Put away some stuff in the kitchen it looks better. I am thawing out dinner.
We had a bit of rain. Ex is done. We got the broken chair out of the basement.

Smooth Sunday for us. Dgs went home a little after noon and I took a long, long nap. Trying not to stress out w/thoughts of the week ahead! Dh and I are on our way to eat out and go to a movie.

So sorry about your stepddil's ddad, Harriet. I know it has to be such a shock for them, so soon after his diagnosis. Praying for all.

At home and about to put my feet up and read. And try and quiet my heart.

When I posted last, I meant to say that it was after the second service we had the discussion. I enjoyed talking with them very much.

At the end of the first service I had some positive feedback but was working to get out the door because I had run over and we only have 45 minutes between services (and need to be there 10 - 15 early, plus 13 minutes driving time.) Then dh got in deep discussion with one of the family members who comes. She has invited him to visit her in Tanzania where she has a project building a girls' school.

She also let me know that I get a crowd each time I'm there because I put so much work into the service. This week I had 17. Last week there were 3. That helped boost my ego! (And no wonder the retirement home feels 9 comfy chairs in the room is sufficient!)

After the second service I had a good rest in the car. I had expected the ball game to only last a half hour and then we'd go to dinner. Dh had expected to not want to listen to the end of the game since between services the Blue Jays were losing 6 - 0. But we tuned in just as the Jays scored the go ahead run in the 6th inning. So we parked in the shade, rolled down the windows and listened for another 80 minutes as the teams see-sawed with the Royals winning it by one run in the end. I probably didn't sleep fully because the game was exciting and I was trying to follow it, but I did fully relax since I stretched out in the back seat with a pillow.

Dinner was a disappointment and was too fatty for me so I feel sick now. On the other hand, we won't miss anything by never eating there again! Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

The visitation at the funeral home was hot, long line up, and I choked up badly and cried in the car after. I often lead the prayers from the back to reinforce the idea that it isn't me praying on their behalf but all of us praying together. About 2 years ago, as I walked past the mother we went to see tonight, I was overcome with a feeling of pain and choked up so badly I almost could not finish the job. It was a very physical reminder that we do share burdens as a Christian family. I love this couple and they have been an inspiration and example to us for the past 25 years so it hurts to see them having to bear this loss.

We are home, I've put away the food in the cooler, and washed it out and done up all the dishes from today. I cleaned the car when we got home, both tidying the inside and dusting off the outside, spot washing the few bug splats and bird droppings. It has only been out twice since the last wash and still looks very good. Back in April we loaded 6 washes onto a reloadable card at the car wash and have only used 3 of the so far. Part of it is that we are driving the car so little. Part of it is that there are so fewer bugs in the city.

I plan to give it "the Works" (includes RainX and a spray wax treatment) before we leave on the trip and to wash it at least once while we are on the road. We are getting used to having a clean car all the time, something we never had when we lived in the village.
