I have been busy - but it doesn't feel like it. dh has been putting things off to another day. He was going to the grocery store for himself and I asked him to take the plastic bags for recycling - he looked at me and said he would do it tomorrow. I think he could see what I was thinking even if I was nice... he took the bags and I said thanks. He also put his dishes in the sink (hard to wash egg/cheese dish from microwave cooking) -He does this every day - and may not wash it for 3 or 5 days - I used to wait but I figure if it bothers me then I can do it.

winter sowed the poppies two ways - outside directly and using the milk jug method.
I had oiled my tools at the end of the season but they still had rust on them - I brought them in and put rust jelly on them - I will wait for a couple hours and see what happens.
I had a rust circle on the stainless still sink and it took until overnight to remove the rust stain.

ordered geranium seeds - I heard it was easier and now that they are so expensive - I thought I would try. I have a light thingy and a heat mat for starting seeds.

Next thing: remove the dirt/plant from my terrarium and put stones and charcoal in along with the dirt. Hope I don't kill the fern.
I need to flip flop the laundry first.

Monday: I have to use mosquito pellets in water and then drain out the pellets and toss those - just use the water from that as plant gnats seem to be a problem lately. terrarium - new dirt, charcoal, and little stones are now in there along with the fern moss.

Grow light, heat pad, etc. are clean - I am just waiting for the geranium seeds - someone said they are easy to grow and with the cost of geraniums always increasing; I thought I would try to grow them from seeds this winter.

transplanted some house plants

put away the garden dirt etc. swept up and cleaned off the counter.

finished the poppies in the milk jugs (winter sowing). toss some seeds on top of the snow - winter outdoor sowing.

Flip flopped laundry : still need to hang up my shirts

next: see how my garden tools are doing with the rust jelly on them.
I need to sharpen my tools but that will wait.

Blessed - YGG! WOW! I forgot about the navel jelly for rust. I just ordered some.

We didn't have any problems making the 2 block trip to the church. The top 1/2" of the ice has softened and gives some traction. We did get the church cleaned just in time to see the announcement that IRL church is cancelled tomorrow due to the ice. They will have an online service.

I spent some time chatting on GroupMe and have managed to get nursery volunteers for 2/3 of the services this year. All the services have volunteers for the next 2 months, so I printed off the new spreadsheet showing who is working when.

My dmother would have loved that you are creating a terrarium, blessed. She always had one for her first-graders and would go through the woods to find lovely moss, especially. I think I would make the mistake of trying little ferns because of cuteness and find out that they become big ferns.

Hmmm... .. nail guns have a reputation of more danger than value in our extended family. (you asked, sorry)

I have spent time online learning about the agencies that are sending quilts and blankets to refugees from Ukraine. It takes 2.40 US to mail/send one from US, at least that's what the Lutheran Relief have been finding, but that could be way underestimated and dependent upon how large a gathering of packages an agency sends at once, of course. Seeing the huge buildings in Poland newly filling with metal bunk beds made me think there's got to be such a need upcoming. Like... .. yesterday.

So that's not exactly "satisfying" time spent, but sort of, because I want to know.

Have been sweeping and surprised how much I just generally miss seeing on the wood floors and the laminate not-wood wood floors both. Gotta make that optometrist appt Monday, no more pondering.

Ds called and will be interrupting me because his printer has died so HRH is printing his fund-raising flyers/signs for him.

I am so sorry d harriet - it is a maidenhair fern not a moss fern - ooops.
I do trim it every so often - that's so cool that your mom would take moss and grow it in a terrarium for her students.
I was worried about that re: nail guns. Knowing me - mmmmm not a safe tool for me!

Went to W mart this morning. Roads are great here now!
I was pleased to find cmas colors yarn for my project forgot to get white I will get it next time.
Did a short walk with the dog. She came to town with me & she likes to get out as well.
Got the food put away.

Working on my journal.
My sis had a great idea for the Easter basket tea cup & saucer and tea in a hat!
She does kid ones in baseball cap too!
Finished the walk with ddog we were glad it warmed up to 45* and wind is not so bad.
Got bread 2nd rise done it is baking now.

Blessed, yes be very careful with a nail gun. We've had a couple accidents with people (not us) and they can be deadly. I am very skittish around them and have been tasked with handing one to DH and even that scares me. His are the big heavy industrial kind and way too much for me. I refuse... He does have a palm nailer which is very cute. It's for where there is not enough room to get your hammer or screwdriver into a tight space to swing. It's about the size of an orange in your hand and it attaches to an air hose and makes a racket as it drives a nail into something... but the size and weight works easily in one's hand. I think it's best for big nails.

Recently I've used Brasso on metals. Works well on rust spots etc., a white creme. Also Z ep which works on all kinds of spaces on corrosion. You name it, I think I've cleaned it!

I got all my spreadsheets set up and did January and some of February. DH watched me do some. I got stuck with something that excel people had no solution to and finally I goo gled it and first bit of advice worked and problem was fixed within a few seconds. I've found this to be true very often. Showed him how to pay a bill online. Hey, if I could figure it out anybody could. Well, maybe not him.

I had a terrarium once and it thrived for a long time. Have to be careful not to have it too humid inside. I don't know what happened to it after I moved.

I'd like to have some cactus miniatures or maybe a bonsai tree. There's quite an art to them. But I guess I'll just stick to my 2 houseplants that are easy and looking at the greenery makes me happy.

LadyM, I'd wondered if your church might be cancelled with all the ice around. Glad you are ok and not stuck in a ditch somewhere.
