LadyM he is absolutely correct. Dh says he prefers the older vehicles because they had less stuff to deal with. With some vehicles, once you take out a battery or alternator, the dealership has to reset something so the vehicle will actually work again. I think it's a computer chip of some sort.

Rain has stopped for now. Dh has the first of 2 major football games on here. Toronto Argonauts v. Hamilton Tiger Cats. Major rivals. The other game is out west later.

DH is mowing grass.

More SUV troubleshooting attempts.....DS14 and I went to pick up a battery charger on wheels that we borrowed. We are going to see if it will charge the SUV battery. I don't have much hope it will work but we are looking at being without the SUV for several more days unless we can get an easy fix. We have 2 doctors appts in different cities tomorrow and then we are cooking for 150 on Wednesday. It will be Thursday before we have time to give to the SUV fix. #FirstWorldProblems

I was going to work outside but our neighbor's have a bunch of 8th grade boys over - I like my neighbor's boy and his usual friends - but this is a different group -there is one kid that is obnoxious and rude which emboldens the others to act loud and obnoxious. The one kid acts entitled. I truly love kids and teens but this group together is not good. (I hope the one boy who is really rude doesn't become a main friend of my neighbors. I don't think it will be good for my neighbor.

Ladies Bible study was fun I got a birthday party!
Then we did the lesson.

I spiffed up the kitchen, one gal may come and get a fold out couch for kids to sleep on at their granny's. I am not using it and it takes up quite a bit of room.
Glad to find a taker.

I baked up 4 rolls I had made frozen dough for and that was fast, saved me a trip to the store for bread win win.

Washer is done dryer is still going, just shut off. Did hand wash too.
To the last few inches of the knitting project I am working up.

Nancy, how nice!

Just puttering around today. My tummy was feeling a bit iffy this morning so I waited to eat. Took a nap, that seemed to help.

Did some work in a closet and the dining room. When I got up I put on work clothes so I could start on the project on the back porch. Then I didn't feel really well so here I sit in my work clothes...not working.

SUV troubleshooting trial & error finally brought SUCCESS! The battery charger we borrowed didn't help even after 2 hours of charging. Then DH tried a little hand size charger he had in the shop and it worked! The SUV finally started. However, every place we could get the battery replaced is closed so the SUV will continue to sit in the driveway until time is available. I am relieved to confirm it is the battery and have a way to get it started!

I took DS14 to a home 3 miles away so he could mow and weed eat their dog yard (about 20'x20'). They clean the dog yard daily, so it stays picked up. They pay DS14 $50 for about 15 minutes of work. He would do it for free because he enjoys talking to this 80+ year old couple, but they insist on paying him.

We did our usual Labor Day picnic thing. It’s kinda a family/community reunion— but not our community— so there’s always a lot of people we don’t really know there. Of course, also a lot we do know, because some of the men ds plays music with around here are always there.
But it’s kinda sad, too, because back when dh’s aunts and uncles were alive, (among the founders of the “club”) there would be hundreds of people there and politicians from all over — those running for state office, even. Sometimes those running for governor. Today… maybe two or three dozen people plus the musicians. Only one candidate spoke, although a few others were milling around.
The main draw of the day is the chicken stew, however, and it’s just as good as it was when they started.

At any rate, we were there for several hours and when we got home, dh and i took a long nap.

I hated to hear the news in Saskatchewan, Cathy.

And — I’m glad you got the SUV problem diagnosed, LadyM! Maybe it won’t take too long in the shop. New car problems are exactly why we’ve kept AAA so busy lately.
