We have been watching the news about Queen Elizabeth today also.

Not a lot going on at my home. We're going about our daily routines as normal. Ddil-A is back to work at school. Although she and Dson-T had a long holiday weekend and spent most of the time working on redoing dgrson's bedroom. They are getting it ready for DGrd-H and her fiance to move in with us towards the end of the month. Their rental contract is up and they don't want to pay $300 extra to renew the next year. They are looking for a new apartment and will be with us till they find one.

News was just announced about the Queen!

Glad the visit was happy, even though car trouble.

I have a good report on my new set of cookware. I went back to a brand that had given such good service in frying pans in the past, Green Pan. My stainless steel, copper-bottom Revere Ware set of everything else, from Christmas, 1974, is really just fine but doesn't agree with the flat surface stoves as well as it always did the "burners" on the old electric ones. We'd have rather frustrating wobbles. (Nevertheless, a good recommendation for that type, isn't it?)

So, with a good opinion from me, myself, ( ) I bought Green Pan's "12-piece set", which is really a 9-piece set with 3 wood spoons. Good things: for 3 of the items (large frying pan, "skillet" which is larger, and dutch oven larger still) there are 2 identical lids that will fit all 3. A much better configuration for a set than I had expected to find. The small frying pan has no lid, but I that's one good thing about the previous one - a lid I already own works fine if I want it. Then the saucepan has a lid, which will also fit the "steamer" when it is used on top of the saucepan.

Ya'll may be amused at me, knowing how much steaming I do of veggies, that until this very day I have just used the steamer baskets with handles you lower down into pans to sit on their 3 little feet. I think the last one I bought cost $1 at a Dollar type store, and has been a trooper. This is literally the first true fitted steamer I've owned.

I know it's so hard when they raise the rates - that is why dd older came back here - and that her neighborhood became dangerous. they raised her rates 600.00 for a one bedroom very tiny apartment.

Yes, news of the Queen's passing was announced while I was in the grocery store. She was crowned roughly two years before I was born, ascended to the throne three years before I was born. "God Save the King" sounds weird. I'm listening to BBC live feed which is free today.

I had a hugely productive trip. Two returns at HD, two returns dropped at UPS store, deposited a check for the temple cemetery, and groceries.

The cemetery check came in the mail awhile back, and I didn't even open it because I thought it was probably copies of bills that are on autopay, but it was a $20K check from the temple for parking lot rent. (Long story, was auto deposited into temple's account, silly me thought that it had been auto deposited into cemetery account.) So I really really needed to get it deposited, and didn't know if the bank would give me trouble because the signatures haven't been changed yet. Tomorrow I am going to a bank in another suburb to see someone who is familiar with the temple accounts - and to try to get signatures changed out. Sometimes they make everyone come in together at one time, sometimes they will let us show up separately. I'm so hoping I don't have to get people together to do this. (Most the bills are auto pay or can be paid online.) I also need to get access to the online account.

Harriet, I probably still have that very set of Revere ware. Perhaps a little younger than yours, since I came after dh and I were married 36 years ago. Still using it. I purged the skillet long ago and use a nonstick or an iron skillet, but the others are still going strong. Occasionally I use the double boiler insert.

I came in and sat down. Need to finish putting away groceries. It sure would be nice to sort them at the store into pantry things (that go by the garage door) and refrigerator (to kitchen) and other.

I think my plan for the rest of the afternoon is to put away groceries, clear the kitchen counters (as much as possible) and get out some fall things for the house.

I have revere ware got as a wedding gift eons ago, and got more from farm estate no one else wanted.
Picked up some used also. I have cast iron with glass pyrex lids.
It is smokey here worse now than when I mowd. Glad I did it early!

I needed to cool off - some weeds picked up - the soil in back needs watering but the worms are still in cool moist soil for the most part.
planted one Honore anemone as well.

I can't wait until I can buy the bushes for next year - I am going to set up a list for the garden shop for next year. (they could put me on the queue).

I set a timer for 45 min and worked. I'll start again at the BOTH. I don't usually turn on the TV but it's on today.

I got the kitchen table cleaned back up and broke down a box to get it out. Also cleaned up island counter, refilled meds, emptied dishwasher...some other things. I have jugs filled up to water my plants on the next round.

Not sure what plans are for p.m. DH wanted to go get his car from the friends who have been storing it while we had construction going, we'll probably eat out somewhere. Friends might join us.
