Commentary now about the funeral and replays. I'm glad I got to see what I did.

Amazing and exhausting trip, beautiful, memorable wedding too. And so very glad to be home and recovering. My feet hurt. My stomach hurts. Too much food, too much champagne. Proud to have evidence of $150 bar tab. (LOL, ended up on my card - we were buying for several people, but it included lots of bottled water too.) I'm not sure I want to eat today and my weight might have hit a new high. But glad we went.

Now to try to regroup. Today I have a two p.m. Zoom. Tomorrow is body work on and on Wed. I get my hair cut. I need a little recovery time right now - a vacation from the vacation.


Let's see - on Thurs. we went to the WWII museum which was amazing. I could have spent more time there. We had supper and drinks with J ("our" bride) and family and some of her friends on Thurs p.m., luncheon on Friday with bridal party at amazing Israeli restaurant, bar party on Friday night for everyone invited to the wedding: upstairs and on balcony overlooking French quarter. Then Sat night wedding, followed by "Second line" parade. (https://www.neworleans.com/things-to-do ... ond-lines/ ) Drinks were passed out as we were leaving in parade and they had bicycle rickshaws for those not able to walk. Followed by eating and dancing. Exhausted. We also got to Cafe du Mond for beignets and coffee on Sat a.m. and a walk around on Saturday. Weather was nice on Thurs. but hot and humid by Saturday. We have known J and parents since her birth - 37 years. We flew with and mostly hung out with J's mom and her second dh, and saw J's father, who is in poor health there also.

I made it to the Zoom meeting without forgetting this week. Got the accumulated mail from the box (was all delivered today) and put away the Instacart order. I only ordered what I could remember, didn't sweat trying to think of everything. I know I need to go to the grocery tomorrow, anyway.

I really need to do a few things here. Dh will be home and I've sat catatonic most of the day.

Timer set for 45 min. Moving around the house will be good for me.

Well, I have just wasted a BUNCH of moments today, I think.
Slept later than usual for me, even, after delivering dgrands to school... then dmom called and I was just off my routine. I did manage to s2s before getting into my phone, with FB and email, and everything... but still -- just "off" schedule. I also s/s toilet in master bath.

DH and I went to town, got the mail, searched for Diet Sundrops -- this is a carbonated drink similar to Mt. Dew, sorta a regional thing, I believe, (* Twins will probably recognize this!) and oh. my. goodness. It would be easier to buy gold on the streets these days around here. I mean, the people who are hooked on it are REALLY hooked on it and it is just impossible to find the DIET version lately. I think it has to do with supply chain issues. Finally got some at the 3rd place we checked (after 4 stops last night!)
Since we got home, I've done NOTHING, because dh was on the computer, and I needed it! So I just wasted time, waiting on him.

Whew! Just started a load of laundry. TA DA!

Also, after dh finally left the computer, I sent the emails I needed to do for teacher retirement group, and one re: an order from Auburn for dgrands, and a couple personal ones that needed to go out...
and I downloaded some stuff from the planner group that I ordered from yesterday.

I still have not watched any of the queen's funeral. I have it all on dvr. Should have been doing that while dh was playing solitaire... shaking my head.
Agreeing with Twins -- "I've sat catatonic all day." LOL. Twins, you have a better excuse than me, although I drove for about an hour back home Saturday night, and had quite a full day yesterday. Still, not as hectic a trip as you did. Sounds like a great time, though!

So glad Mr. Dee has that procedure over with! Hope you both get plenty of rest and feel better tomorrow!
Also thinking of LadyM with infusion this afternoon, and all the concerns with dmil.
Glad Mr. Harmony had a good report from the lab!

DH has already eaten supper; he had a ham sandwich from grocery store deli. I guess I'm going to get myself something now.

Forty-five minutes of work put me and the house into much better shape. I got mostly through at least a.m. routine and the damage from our homecoming last night is partly put away. Sheldon would not approve however - both our bags still have stuff floating around to be put away.

Our supper is grilled chicken (marinating now) and baked sweet potato.

I'm getting worked on in the morning (i.e. body work) so my body and feet should feel better!

LadyM, I am sure your dh is exhausted with elder care. It's so difficult to take care of a parent. Glad dsisil is stepping in today.

I forgot that Sheldon likes to ride around on Monday nights, just another one of our quirky habits... so we went out and he stopped at McD's for me so now I have had supper and laundry is progressing. While the washer is doing its job, I'm going to be watching the queen.

DH does NOT understand my fascination with all things royal, but I just love all the tradition and symbolism. And OTOH, I keep in my mind that they ARE a family, just like all of our families -- granted, they have a lot more money, power, and prestige... but when it all comes down to it, she was once a little girl who loved her grandfather, and her parents, a young girl who fell in love with a dashing young sailor and married him for life, a mother and grandmother and great-grandmother... and you know she must have suffered some sleepless nights over what her children & grandchildren were up to at times... just like the rest of us. And she did it with such poise and grace. It is obviously the end of an era, but also, as has been said by others, Queen Elizabeth truly represents the last of the Greatest Generation. Sadly, it does not seem that future generations will ever have the work ethic and inner strength that people of her age did.

Lucylee, I like how you said that about the royals. DH does not get the royal thing at all and can't understand what the extended thing is all about. It's probably mostly his family thing. They never make any kind of big deal of a funeral or a death. Most of his relatives are just sprinkled somewhere. When I came in for a rest I watched some coverage of the queen at St. George (I think that's right?).

I did get that gardening done. Was way harder than I'd thought and I was also less able than I'd thought. I dug up that big plant in two big clumps. I carried the smaller one around to the side of the house. The second clump I got a couple steps and had to stop. Cleaned out all the tools from the garden cart, struggling, I lifted the bigger clump into it and wheeled it around to the side also. Dug a great hole and planted the big clump. Separated the other one and planted that in 2 places. All watered in good. The excess dirt I took back to the front garden and put it there. I need some more dirt there.

I left a very small plant in the front. The first indication that it is going to take over like the other and I'll get it out of there. I had this plant at our old house. It never grew like this! I looked up its name from the tag I kept. Mexican Heather. It has almost continuous little purple flowers and a lot of bees all the time. It had lots of bees while I was working on it. I just brushed them aside and when I lifted it out of there the bees just left. They love this plant!

I trimmed the grass all around the edge. Man. What a job.

Came in and I was too tired to get in the shower. I kept thinking if I could get cleaned up I'd just go to bed, but I couldn't so I stretched out on the couch and slept for hours. This house is getting to be a LOT harder to keep.
