I'm following the hurricane prep with interest.

The IEP meeting was super easy. DD11 will have 24 speech therapy sessions this school year which equals about 1 hour a week. One thing that was a bit of a surprise is how much DD11 excelled in the language skills test as in....DD11 tested at being 21 years old. The speech therapist said in the 2 decades that she has been doing this test that she has only had 5 students finish the test. The test is designed for the students to not finish. She said in the past 2 decades, she only had one student test higher than DD11 and that student was 16 years old. I am thankful that DD11 doesn't have a struggle in learning. ANYway, after the IEP meeting, I did use the opportunity to have a quick parent/teacher conference about an incident that happened a couple of weeks ago. The teacher is going to modify DD11 way of giving presentations. I am very thankful for the excellent teachers, speech therapist and administration at this tiny school.

I must be feeling better I got the dog crumbles out of the freezer sand containerized,
and have them back in the freezer half upstairs and half is down stairs.

I have cleaned the porcelain here.
Glad I have this progress.

Did a facial and that helped.

Haven't even had time to post today. Was busy most of the morning. Then dh and I went to Geneseo to pick up our new glasses. Went to G oodwill first and then back to W mart. When we went in the "left" side of Wmart there was nary a cart. So we went around the corner and I picked up my glasses. While dh got his I went to the "right" side to pick up a cart. That was 1 o'clock. When we finally left at 2 there were still none on the 'left' side. We bought a new microwave for our kitchen -larger than the one we had. Dh had all he could do to get it in and hooked up. Lights came on fine but none of the buttons would work, period! So back in the box, back in the car and back to Geneseo to return it. Got a new one and brought it home and it works fine. It's about 40 minutes away. Felt like I'd traveled a long ways today and I guess it was over 160 miles.

Talked a couple of times with dd. Their school is closed at least tomorrow and Wednesday because they're considered a shelter. Think most of Polk county schools are for Tampa and area (Hillsborough Co.) As are Harmony & RR, DD is getting things hurricane ready. Says to thank you for the advice on the gallon jugs of water, RR. They were putting up their pieces of plywood today. She asked DBIL if he wanted to come stay with them (he has a manufactured home and is close to Hillsborough Co line.) He said no at first. Later he called and said he'd reconsidered. He has radiation (I thought he was all through with that) in the morning and then will go home. Dsonil will go pick him up and take him back to their home later. DD/Dsonil went to L owe's and bought a B lackstone griddle today. Told dsonil it's an early birthday present. They have a grill on the screened porch as well. DD went home from school and picked up the 3 blow up beds they have and took them back to the school. They're glad to have anything of that sort and as Blessed says, hoping they don't need them.

Seems like I accomplished so little today but am so tired.

Dh is having very little appetite. The meds are also causing a bad metallic taste to everything so nothing tastes good to him. Figured out tonight he has 10 days of this treatment left.

Going to watch Jeopardy and go to bed.

Well, we made our decision and it took 8 hours but we got all the panels up. It was quite a job. Started on the back porch and ran into a bad problem right away. The 2 sliding glass doors (they are big ones) have L shaped fixtures like angles that bolt to the floor and then the bottom of the panels hang on to that. The top is an upside down u-shaped bracket which holds the top. However, with the nice texture we put on the floor, the space between the L-shaped bracket on the bottom and the bracket at the top is less and the panels are now too tall to fit in there. So we had to get out the tools and DH cut about 3/4" all the way across each of the panels. Not a fast or quick job. It's tough steel. It rained for a bit and we just worked through that. The last 4 windows we did we used a flashlight to see. I'm glad it's done.

Tomorrow we'll cover the double doors in the back of the shop after we put all the miscellaneous stuff in there we don't want blowing around.

I can't believe how hard this was to do this work. Last time we did it was the year H. Irma was coming through. We worked as hard and as long but I don't think it did us in this much.

I don't think we're getting the hurricane directly here, but one never really knows. We're safer now for sure and this house is built like a concrete bunker so I'm not worried as long as we don't get a bad storm surge. Going to drag myself to bed after I get in the shower. I washed my shower curtain and liner and I don't think I have the energy to put that back together, so I guess I'll pop into the master shower. The evacuation pictures are something else, wall to wall traffic, people leaving the area.

Nothing else checked off my lists except prep for council meeting tonight.
Quick take out supper.
Meeting.
Picked up dgs. Taco Bell for him.
He has showered and is now practicing piano.
MAYBE I’ll have him in bed by 10:00.
