I saw a note about the hematologist appt earlier this morning but didn't comment here. Hoping you both find out useful information and a plan for going forward.

Homeschool is done. It wasn't an easy day in both the assignments and the attitude, but we got through it. DS14 was so hyper about the possible pickup trade that his Tourette tics were full force along with ADHD attention span being almost nonexistent. Action is his jam. Sitting is pure torture to him. It was consistent persistence on my part that got him to focus enough to do his assignments.

I made a bowl of tuna salad to use up the rest of the hard-boiled eggs. Tuna salad disappears about as fast as milk in our home. A bowl of tuna salad using 4 cans of tuna with 7 eggs will not last long.

DH and DS14 just left to go buy a battery. DS14 welder needs a new battery. Instead of buying a new battery for it, he is going to replace his pickup battery with a new one and then use his 2 year old battery from pickup in his welder. When they get back home then DS14 will leave for work.

I have the next 3 hours to focus on me, myself, and I. Hum.....

Kathryn, that noise would annoy me also. We've had an annoying beeping in the house for weeks now. Our battery backup on our alarm system has been registering low power and the beep indicates that we need service. I think this happened a few months ago. I was supposed to go get this little, very expensive battery. So I put it off, every time the beeping stopped I would go and reset the alarm key pad. Well, then the hurricane hit and we had beeping to tell us there was no electricity...which we already knew.... and then it started beeping to alert us that windows were open and doors etc. Ok, we knew that. I just kept resetting the keypad. Finally, yesterday DH got us another battery and hooked it up. I got all the beeping stopped finally. However, I haven't been able to figure out how to reset the calendar. It was telling me that was wrong too... what a mess.

I have McAfee and have no problems with it. I don't think it's slowing anything down. It doesn't run scans unless I tell it to. I do think it's running in the background but I can't really tell. It came with my old computer and we transferred it to here. We had a year at first and when it was set to expire I caught a black friday sale at the office store where I could buy as many years as I wanted for $5 a year so I got 5 years and installed all of them. We were able to transfer all the years. Emails that say it's expired are spam. Originally we had Norton but I think now it comes with Life Lock and we don't want all that. We had the free version of A vast one time which I hated. Caused all sorts of problems and kept trying to get us to upgrade to the $ version. I think that was what ruined our original computer.

Napped so much on and off yesterday that I didn't want to sleep last night. Got a text from DD who asked about my payroll taxes for this past quarter. We'd talked about that and I gave her my information and she was going to submit them for us because I had no electricity and no internet. Yesterday she texted asking if I'd submitted them. Ah, no, you were going to do that for me, remember? So I was a bit upset and I got up at 4:00AM and did all the quarterly tax work. One set submitted online and the other is in the mailbox right now. So I was up till about 6:00 and then finally did sleep a couple hours. Got my days and nights mixed up here I guess.

My friend had an appointment nearby and was going to stop here on her way home. No street signs around here and she went a street too far and felt lost and called me. I was outside working with DH and we were using our hoses and didn't want my phone to get wet so I didn't have it with me. So, that was a miss. I had to text her today and apologize. I didn't know for sure she was coming.

Hoping Dee and DH are having an OK day. Also thinking about Dove.

Filled medicine boxes for me this morning. Need to try those phone numbers again and see if I can connect with a dentist. I'm being very careful with my tooth, nothing cold and no chewing on that side and no sugar. That keeps it from flaring up.

RRose, yes we've had a lot of people stop here wanting to do things. However, not as many as we could have since DH's big work truck with his name all over it is in the driveway. I guess they think somebody is helping us already. We did have the tree trimmers from another state do our tree work for which we were very grateful. Their info said they were licensed and insured. He said the county knew they were here. Of course, we had no internet then to check them out. And we did not sign away our insurance rights to them. Other trimmer companies stopped but they all wanted to remove every one of the trees. No, trimming was all we needed and my 6 oaks they trimmed are starting to bud out in new leaves already.

That's fascinating that you went to school with Leslie Jordan, Twins!

We are hunkering down for real here... storms predicted soon, and schools dismissed at 11:45. If necessary, we will go to ds' house because they have a basement... but my goodness... digging through the clutter to get to it... shaking my head. I have learned (mostly) just take Scarlett's approach and try not to think about that.
They are all healthy and happy (well, aside from dgd & ddil's arthritis, dgd's constant runny nose, and dgs's excema) but none of them have any life-threatening diseases, they apparently are all happy with each other and very loving, the dgrands are doing well in school and enjoy their extracurricular activities, ds and ddil have jobs they enjoy, and they are active in our church. There is so much to be thankful for. If they never become the kind of people who are organized and put things away and clean house on any sort of routine... so be it. If they are not embarrassed by the state of things, I should not be either.

Definitely understand the annoyance of the beeping, Kathryn! My dmom would completely go insane.

I do admire LadyM's ds with his energy and motivation to always be DOING something... but it almost exhausts me to read about it! LOL. WTG, LadyM, keeping him sitting long enough to do the schoolwork.

I certainly don't envy Rose & Harmony with the repair people and decisions to make re: pricing. That is a wonderful solution, having a contractor's truck parked in your drive, Harmony!

Oh -- Kathryn -- re: soap, yes, we definitely use all the soap, DH always adds final sliver to new bar. And he frequently brings home slivers from hotel stays, which I think is a little over-doing thrift, IMHO... but... whatever. I use liquid body wash, which may be more wasteful, but I love the brand I use and it does seem to help my skin. My dermatologist recommended it -- California Baby Wash Super Sensitive.

we have had a deep rain today. I would love to pull weeds but I am not sure if I want to get that wet.
I might "might" wash the fence after this god rain.

?dh told me that I don't have to rake leaves this fall- that leaving them on the grass won't ruin the grass. I was always taught that the leaves would mush down and the grass underneath would become mud. He also said I can't rake leaves when they are wet as that will ruin the grass. what is the real deal? do you all know?

I have been watching the trial of Derrill brooks for the last few weeks - it's a big trial In Waukesha (Wisconsin) (nearer to Madison). I am interested on how this case will be used in the future as a reference as Illinois vs Allen is being used in this case with a disruptive party in court. It will also be interesting to see how the future courts will do with Sovereign citizens - which I have seen and uptick in sovereign citizens (as well as moorish) the last 5 years. I have been watching more for the judge -which I think has handled things well in such a difficult courtroom.

At the hospital waiting room quite early due to parking not as tricky as the news reports indicated it might be. We chose to park the farthest away to save better spots for others.

The waiting room is quite lovely for this hospital. But it is sponsored by a local funeral home which is less lovely!

We had a very busy day today. Know dh wasn't really up to it but it was all things that had to be done. (Yes, it was me up all night, Twins. Dh was up most of the night as well. I had ZERO hours sleep Friday night, Sat/Sun nights were ok, then last night got all of 45 minutes. Way too few hours and there was so much I needed to get done here. I only have tomorrow and Friday as things stand right now.

Dh will have the cardioversion done Thursday morning at a local hospital at 6am or so DS-R will take us in as I just can't do that drive in the dark any more. Hoping that this one 'takes'. His first was done 5 weeks ago yesterday and lasted until sometime last week. By this weekend/yesterday he was totally spent.

Today we went for blood work for prior to his procedure, then to our investment advisor's to sign some papers, on to another hospital for his Covid test, back to visit a short time with DGD/DGGD (so good to see them before we leave!), on to W algreens for dh's new meds and lastly to T im H orton's for a bite of lunch and home. Had an angel statue I wanted DGD to have in memory of her Mom (DShelley). Maybe I've written all this before -sure seems familiar. Oh well, if so you're being blessed twice I guess.

Of course now dh is bemoaning the fact that he rested this afternoon instead of getting some needed things done. It'll get done I guess. There's just so much that absolutely has to be done before we leave Saturday morning. (This is as long as everything goes okay Thursday. Expect it to do so.)

I walked and then a bit later brought the can from the curb in.
Put more branches in it and then picked up two more cans of branches I pruned off last week.
The fresh air helped.

Did my zoom study the last one.
I am technically a week ahead but today is the next one so on track in my estimation, and this works for me today.
Next week who knows.

Picked up after the ddog.
Might be starting to get the hang of writing down stuff in my h&f planner.

LadyM I am relieved that your ds didn't get the diesel truck. Diesel is a more expensive fuel and a different type of mechanic is needed. Maybe you could let him know that he should do some research into the cost of diesel versus the cost of regular gasoline for a math project. Also maybe get him to find out about the differences between working on a regular engine versus a diesel engine.

Tonight we are having macaroni and cheese from a box along with a sweet potato for dh and a chunk of ham that I will heat up in the oven. I will also be cooking some green peas to go with the ham and mac and cheese.

Earlier today dh took me to a local bookstore to pick up 2 books that hit the shelves today. I curled up in bed and started in on the first book earlier and ended up with a bit of a nap.

In other news... we also went to a local Humane Society today after the book store. We have an appointment on Saturday for a "Meet and Greet" with a 2 year old female cat that we would like to bring home to join our two 2 1/2 year old female cats.
