Well I’m back…
Didn’t go shopping because my face looks like it was stuck in a bee hive. Lost count on how many things the dr froze. Plus I had one biopsy done on the side of my face and was zapped 7 times on my body.
Came home and I hurt so bad I took half of a pain pill.
Right now I am taking it easy and drinking my second cup of coffee. Tomorrow I have my DAR meeting. Hopefully my spots won’t blister till at least Wednesday. That way I may be able to use some makeup to cover up my spots. I do have circular bandaids I can use but there are too many to hide. Thought about using a mask, but I would need to take it off when I ate my lunch.

I've cleaned up kitchen counters at least and walked the dog. Need to s2s next. Our supper will be turkey breast, roasted butternut squash (sweet potato if it's past its prime?) and a green salad. Someone sent dh a bone in turkey breast for holidays and he unsealed and sliced it for snack last night. Made a huge mess of kitchen floor because packaging had water it in and that spilled down counter and onto floor. Couldn't talk ddog into helping with floor, but dh mostly cleaned it up.
On to shower, hoping for some upstairs time today too.
I'm amazed at how much busier I've become and how my life feels more crowded recently. Tomorrow I have a teeth cleaning, workout, and discussion group in the evening if I show up. Thursday I have a work out then online orientation for the virtual genealogy institute next week. And next week I'll be busy daily with the institute, so that nearly takes me to the end of the month. OTOH, working out gets me out of the house and allows me to group some of my errands, and I did go to the downtown library the other day also. It's a struggle to find the balance. Compared to some periods of my life, this is nothing, yet now, after the pandemic and the deep dive into the portfolio, things feel crowded.

I made a big pot of spaghetti & meat sauce for the family.
DH and I enjoyed a phone call from DS49 & DGS16 giving us updates of the happenings in their lives. DDIL continues with her business endeavors. Last year she sold the one she managed, and the proceeds paid their home off. So she found a new challenge to channel her business energy into and is about to close on the purchase of it. I remind myself DDIL has been successful in all her previous business ideas, and I try not to think too much when it sounds impossible to me. The clift notes version of her new business adventure is purchasing acres & buildings and running multiple business on that site with the main theme being horse stable, equestrian training/event site, polo, hunter jumper, trail rides, festivals, etc. It is located about 10 miles from their home. DS49 & DDIL are both 100% on board with this new business adventure so I am happy for them and wish them the best.
DD11 fever has gone down so I'm hoping she has a short-lived normal cold that only needs time, rest, and hydration to get over.
I continue to keep a fire burning almost every day during the cold part of the year in the garden. We have an overabundance of wood available, so I try to burn 2-4 logs a day. I use the ashes to put onto the raised bed.
I need to plan this week homeschool assignments and get them on DS14 calendar.

(Ramblin'), that sounds like so much that could be painful - feel better soon!
LadyM, that does sound like it's good for the raised beds.
Thank you all for the good wishes. Dd called and filled us in on their day. He had planned a trip to a foothills creek (I thought the ring photo looked like that - probably a tributary of the Yadkin River) with a reputation among rockhounds for panning or digging for semi-precious stones or quartz, or just smooth pebbles. She had mentioned to him as much as a year ago that she would like to go, so that she could look for unusual ones for her jewelry-making, etc. She had gone out into the middle of this on flat steppingstones and he followed and proposed when she got to a place he could put a knee down.
So glad she kept her balance under emotional adversity and also that they didn't drop the ring into the water. Anyway, he was pleased that it was a sunny mid-fifties day, for sure. Their first date's anniversary, but he says if it had been the usual January weather, he'd have thought of a 'plan B' rather than let her wander off on wet rocks into a creek. He did take a selfie with her at the time, and we've seen that. HRH says that to anyone who knows her, the photo will make it obvious she'd been crying. She goes red-nosed like me.
We expect her to drop by this afternoon sometime. She's been calling her dad about that. She's invited to her sister's for supper.
Checking in just before lunch.
Happy to have had good sharing with a couple of people.
I am good on my steps so far.
Had lunch then I took ddog for a walk. She is doing good I am using a shorter lead these days.
Weather is great today!
Did up the dishes and made the bed.
Got the living room vacuumed.
Dusted a bit in the pantry.
May have a home for the ent. center in the basement.
I have been considering a diff. unit, will get that if this item fits in the other people's place, if not no worries.
I did up more dishes and have a plan for dinner.

just came back - they told me that I should start looking at rehab facilities - some are listed as awful. I will have to ask others for their experiences.
Praying that I have guidance to the right place for him.
praying also that he passes his swallow test so that he doesn't have to have a stomach feeding tube. He as been through that before and it was difficult for him.
I had a yogurt, grape nuts as a topping and some grapefruit for lunch.
dogs are rough housing big time! it's raining outside so they can't be out in the mud!
I feel like sitting but my brain knows it is supposed to work. The franny wants to sit.
hello to all. I am a bit overwhelmed by all the conversations I have had and all the decisions I will have to make soon.
as I can see my body is tired I think I need to do some routines.
so far - went in garage and organized and tossed garbage - the 3 dogs joined me - dd younger is doing work.
turned on laundry
some put away in different areas of the house and garage. extra paper towels are now on a shelf in garage
I need to pick up dog toys outside even though it's muddy and wet. (but keeping the herd inside so they don't knock me over in play)
Blessed… I understand about the rehab thing. We went through that with my mom. We had her in three different ones. The last one was the place where we had our dad.
My suggestion to you is…
* make sure you have access to your husbands medical insurance… by that call them to see if you can get his information and you’re on his account
* do the same if your husband is receiving Medicare
I had to be placed both on my moms United health plan and her Medicare. You will need your husbands SS# and his account #
Once you know what rehab you will be using he will be assigned a case manager. Also make sure the doctor your husband is using now is allowed to practice in that facility, otherwise your husband will be assigned a new dr.
Get phones numbers at the rehab of
Case worker
Head nurse
Day nurse/nursing station
PT person
Start a journal… I used my daily planner… and document everything!!! . Like when you called, the date and the time and what was discussed no matter how little it was. I kept my planner opened by my phone and wrote notes as I talked to a person. Ask question and I found repeating back what was said to me to be important because what was said and what was meant sometimes were not the same.
If you call to talk to someone at 9 in the morning and ask for a call back, make sure to doc that and then the time they called back.
All your husbands clothes will have to be labels by you. Buy cheap stuff like pjs, jogging pants, sweat shirts with zipper fronts, socks, shoes because things disappear when the rehab does the laundry. I brought in extra blankets for my mom as well and we did her laundry.
Make sure to visit every day if possible or call. They will take better care of your husband if they know you are daily involved. Be kind to the nurses and aids. That goes a very long ways too. I’ve been told by many workers how that makes a difference.
Do not take anything to your husband and leave it there if it has any value to it… things tend to walk away other wise.

I had to go to Costco to get some meds for dh, so I got a chicken for $8 and dh and I have already eaten most of it and all 3 cats helped us without any hissing or growling at each other. Two months ago I thought we would have to take the youngest cat back to the shelter due to all of the hissing and growling and fights that ended with a tiny bit of bloodshed if they were ever in the same room. Now they can sit within a foot of each other and share food nicely.
When I posted earlier I hadn't seen Dee's post re: her husband back in hospital. Dee I hope you are getting some rest today.
