I'm not doing much better. Standing at the computer didn't help and I'm overcome with tiredness at the moment.

I did shower and ran my errand. I got a response to the email I sent so am unstuck from that point but haven't actually moved forward.

The apartment feels cold so I'm sitting with my computer on my lap in the leather chair (which has warmed up below me.) What I should be doing is getting up and moving around. Or turning up the thermostat.

We had a snow storm this morning so I didn't go to church. My errand was across the street and nothing had been plowed so I decided not to drive (and since the steps up to the other building weren't visible, I ended up walking up a tire track in the driveway - it was bad for a while.) The sun is out now so I will suggest a walk to dh. It won't unstick me and help me finish my tasks but it will be good for both of us.

I am very curious as to what was making Kathryn's floors sticky.

Dh and I talked to his mom today, which was nice. Their city has a LOT of snow. I sent them a picture of our minimal amount, most of which has been blown away in the wind. I should have taken a picture of the fence before dh propped it back up. We can see the stubble of the corn stalks across the road from us.

We also spoke to my dd. Same conversation... weather. Toronto got slammed. Sent her the same picture I sent MIL/SIL.

We are having pork ribs tonight. We will cook them on the stove in BBQ sauce.

Dh and I went to a very large grocery store this morning that we haven't been to in over 3 years. It seemed very crowded to both of us and I don't think we'll be going back. The aisles look wide, but the shopping carts are also quite large, so 2 carts passing each other is difficult. Seems most people don't consider that there are other carts that might need to get past them, so they park in the middle and it crowds up the entire aisle.

He also is giving me the evil eye bc he has to do his pt and speech therapy.
So I won't be popular today
I think that because I don't like conflict; I get in my own way.
dd younger is leaving today - poor dd older is crying bc she will miss both her sister and the dog

Well, Blessed, a few things to reply: Dh is giving me that "evil eye" as well. I had told him after we came home from church that he needed to put on his compression stockings (he's so swollen!) Told me his 'dress socks' were tight so they must be compression socks -not really, it's because he's so swollen that they're tight. He did (begrudgingly) put his compression socks on however. I was also not popular because my sleep has been so disrupted the last couple of months. I finally got to sleep last night (and he only remembers me sleeping soundly probably around 4/5 o'clock). At 6:30 my bladder awoke me and sent me to the bathroom. Took my thyroid med and went back to bed at which time he started talking to me and then tapping me (fondly I guess). However, now I was wide awake! Grrr. So got up and prepared for the day a few minutes later. I wasn't an energizer bunny for sure.

I also am very opposed to any conflict, family or otherwise and have a hard time with it.

I would be sad with dd leaving as well. Hope she makes out well back in FL. She's going back with your Mom?

DD has gone to an Orlando Solar Bears game today so she didn't go to church with us. (She's working -dh hasn't worked all year there but has cards and thoughts from the staff there as time's worn on.)

Met a rep from our denominations headquarters in D.C. This American Baptist Church used to belong to a Southern alliance but we more closely align with this ABC up there. It's actually the only ABC church they have in FL. I think there is another one south of St. Petersburg, FL but that's probably the only other one in FL. Had a nice time talking with her after church. She and a pastor that I was secretary for up north were best friends in seminary at Eastern Seminary in PA. I was secretary for about 30 years and probably served as church Clerk for nearly 37. And yet our church here seems more like 'family'. Even though we've been members up north at our ABC church for almost 60 years.

DD said to me yesterday, "I'm not sure Mom if it was more tiring for you taking care of Dad through his worse times or trying to keep him in line now that he's improving a LITTLE". She's right. Hang in there, Blessed. I'm trying to

Wondering which grocery that might be, Cathy?

We had a potluck meal after church today. It never ceases to amaze me how these things come together with no planning. When we were 30 minutes away from serving the food, we only had about 6 dishes show up. We were wondering if this was going to be the first time that we would not have enough food. Turns out everyone brought their dishes of food at the last moment. We had to quickly set up another serving table to hold all the dishes. By the time we started serving the 100+ people, we had an overabundance of food. We could have easily fed another 50 people with the food leftover.

We have another dreary chilly day here. The weather people have placed a bullseye on us for severe winds (80-110 mph gust) and potential tornadoes later today. It is rare that locals pay much attention to the weather, but this one has several conversations happening today about making sure our scaredy cat holes are ready. I need to open our cellar door and take a look. It has been a year since I've even opened that door.

Marinade.

The tricky part is we haven't had marinated steak for months. So why did it suddenly appear on the floor this week?

Blame the freezer organizing.

1. I got the new baskets to replace the giant bags that held the meat. Three kinds of meat, 3 baskets. Piled the now empty bags on the freezer, they fell down, a day later I moved them to the kitchen and folded them up and tossed them out (they had holes.)

2. When we buy flank steak, I mix up marinade, put it into a ziplock with the meat, close that and put another ziplock around it and close that one too. Apparently one leaked through both bags into the beef bag.

3. When I moved the beef over, I didn't notice it because the marinade was frozen. As the bag sat there, it melted and when the bag was moved to the kitchen and folded up, the melted juice dripped onto the floor. I still didn't notice it, but once it dried, I saw it (hours, or maybe a day, later.)

The walk was nice but long because we stopped to visit along the way. Plus I'm slow moving.

We dropped off a book at the adjoining building and checked out their almost finished lobby renovation. The new furniture is very nice and it is movable so, although there are only 4 chairs and a bench now, (there used to be 6 plus a bench), we can move things around which means adding folding chairs will be easy. That building is the smallest and they love to socialize in the lobby so it will be well used.

Now I'm going to make the meatloaves.

The yearly cellar inspection is done, and it is ready. The dehumidifiers moisture absorbers containers were full, so I replaced them. DS14 replaced the light bulbs with led to brighten up the area. The candles were completely GONE with only mice tracks left to give a clue what happened to them. I did not know mice would completely consume candles! There are several battery powered lights available to use instead of candles. DS14 can't fully stand up in the cellar because the concrete ceiling is only 6' tall. It is an underground concrete bunker that I hope we never have to use but it is nice to know there is a safe hidey hole available if a tornado passes over us.

next up - Plan homeschool assignment for this week.

Dee they call it "Superstore" and it's owned by ... Loblaws (I think) which just had it's latest earnings posted online, and they made something like $600 million in profits in 3 months, but claim they can't lower grocery prices. Kathryn might know more about them than I do.

Marinade! Sneaky stuff! I was thinking more along the lines of apple juice from the grandchildren.

Ribs are cooking and I am bringing some water to a boil for the small half of a small cabbage that I have sliced thinly, but not too thinly or it might have ended up as coleslaw.

I think I'll make rice to go with. Either that or a box of mashed potatoes. I'll see what dh wants.

We're to have dreary weather here most the week. Tuesday will be mostly sunny, and sunny again on Saturday, but otherwise cloudy, T-storms, or wind/rain.

Thankfully, a quiet day here. I have chili going on the stovetop. Tomorrow I have body work - it's much needed this time, after a hiatus of three weeks.

I walked the ddog today was so glad it warmed up enough to do and and the snow is mostly melted now yea!
Church was good.
Glad I remembered to change out of my new shirt before lunch and that I have left overs for dinner.
Had a good talk with my dsis.
Also glad for longer days.
