LadyM...That's a lot of meat!

I may get my master bedroom and bath vacuumed and mopped one day.

As I was headed to the farmer's market, Sweetie asked if we could go to HD to get A/C filters. Did that first, then went to the market. Came home and had lunch and needed to do a bit of computer work before I started doing the floors.

Then I fine out our CPA had called Sweetie several times and he missed them. Because of obvious reasons I called her back and explained what was going on in our home. I was left an estate from my mom which involves stocks and bonds and needed to know what information she needed. Plus I am going to be helping Sweetie with the taxes. Thankfully he already has a lot done.

After that Sweetie and I got to talking about transferring all my monies into the trust fund that we've already have set up. Not sure how to do that we contacted our financial guy, who is also a great friend with a bunch of questions. Now I am waiting for an email to transfer my funds.

So here I sit, but I guess the floors with just have to wait because now I need to call my brother with tax questions.

LadyM, WOW -- 15 pounds of ground beef! I have only have 2 pounds to work with! I can imagine, after working with 14-year-olds for 30 years, that your ds is having a ball. I can also imagine YOUR feelings on all this, and I'd be right there with you. Shaking my head... Boys.

BTW -- ddil reports they had to go to the men's sizes for dgs' cleats today. He is 10, weighs over 100 lbs, and wears a 6 1/2 shoe, 14 Husky pants. I certainly hope his growth spurt starts going UP instead of OUT soon.

So glad you're getting some extra help with the septic tank, Harmony! Maybe things can start looking more normal for y'all soon.

Just put a home made Shepherd's Pie into the oven. I used up most of the potatoes and there will be real mashed potatoes on the top. We had the boxed ones last time and I didn't really enjoy them.

The sun is shining and a lot of snow has melted, plus dh cleared most of the patio this morning.

I've been to workout and she nearly killed me. Hard workout.

I accomplished more tree branch dragging. I drag them from the back of the yard to the front yard and leave them near the driveway. That way they are easier to load without having to drive across the yards. DH and DS14 have loaded and hauled off 4 truckloads of branches today. This tree project seems endless, but I know it will eventually be done.

The family ordered hamburgers and DH volunteered to go get them. I didn't want fast food, so I made a tuna salad with a side of spinach for myself. Note to self....my food was faster to make than it was to go get fast food.

Well, February is over (almost) and our celebration is over... and now... I have to clean up the kitchen and dining room. Ooohhh...
I used the good china and that means a lot of hand-washing now.

Everyone seemed to have a good time and they really bragged on the spaghetti. Dmom took what was left with her. We had waaay too much salad, and could have used a little more bread (but we didn't run out)... and the small cake she requested was the perfect size. One slice left, which she forgot to take with her.
Christmas presents all done now too, thank goodness, and * amazingly * dgs' sweatpants, size 10-12, still fit, so no need to swap anything.

The ONE questionable thing is dmom's fudge. I am really nervous about that. I forgot all about it until she opened it, and then...
I said, "Oh no. That would probably have been really good at Christmas time..." and I looked at the box and it says, "Use by Dec. 28, 2022." She still insisted on taking it home with her and trying just a little bit of it. It is from Buccee's. I told her to be very cautious because I do NOT want her back in the hospital because I gave her bad fudge! My goodness...

I've just got to wave at everyone and get on with this before I lose my enthusiasm entirely for the job. We used paper plates for the cake, but china for the spaghetti and salad and real silverware. No glasses though; everyone just drank soft drinks out of the bottles. Gotta do something with this huge ton of salad too.

I have not done much and enjoyed a quiet low key day.
I was excited to find some volunteer seeds are up and growing in the plant cage despite the cold temps.
I tosses some flower seeds in there might be sunflowers, when I pulled out the old tomato vines that disturbed
them a bit hope they make it but there are plenty.

Neighbors have unloaded an older vintage camper after they pulled it out from beside their home.
Interesting to see if they are going to sell it or what.

Glad to have the chores pretty much on track.
I still need to vacuum but that can be tomorrow I do not have much goin on.

There were some clouds that gave us some rain,
I was interested to see if we got rain or snow. I see in the distance at a slightly higher elevation they got more snow.

Dishes are done. Kitchen is not to bad.
Coffee maker is ready to go for in the morning.
I did some art for the front page of new journals one for March, another for spring I started with but changed my mind before
I did any actual writing in so it will be fine for later on I have covers for both of them.

Mystery, thanks for happy birthday wishes for my dmom. She will be 78 tomorrow. She's the youngest of all my friends' parents, but the last few years have been hard on her. She certainly doesn't seem as young as she did at one time. OTOH, she still does look younger than most of her classmates, when she's "got her pride up," as her aunt used to say, LOL. She wouldn't let me take any pictures tonight. She hardly ever wears makeup anymore; she has a tremor and she says it's just impossible for her to do her eye makeup anymore. She brought a check for me to write to the plumber, who's been doing some work at my grandparents' house, which she rents to another widow. She does still drive and buys 99.99% of her groceries, goes to church most of the time, gets her hair done every Saturday -- she's really doing well in a lot of ways -- and SOOO much better than she was a few years ago, when most of you will remember, our doctor had her hospitalized to get her off her Ativan dependency.

LadyM, I don’t know that I have a pot big enough to brown 15 lb of ground meat. I can’t even imagine!

I've been thinking about that, too.
LadyM, how many pots did it take?

I used my big Duncan Hines cookware pot (Dutch oven?) for the spaghetti. It's a one-pot recipe; the spaghetti cooks in the sauce.
I had 2.25 lbs ground beef,16 oz. spaghetti noodles, and it takes 4 cups of tomato juice and 6 cups water. I do not think I could have added one more bit of meat or liquid. (It also has 12 oz. tomato paste and a variety of dry ingredients/spices.) That is the biggest pot/pan I have.
I doubled the original recipe which I think came from the old Better Homes and Gardens cookbook, the one with the red plaid cover. (Do any of you remember that one?)
I've had this cookware since we married; it was a gift from my parents.

I have everything done except putting away the clean dishes. I still love my good china, after 43 years, but I am afraid to put it in the dishwasher, and of course, getting everything back in the china cabinet is a pain, too. But at least it's all clean.
I also need to put the stuff back on the dining room table -- table runner & flower arrangement -- and bring two chairs back in here to the computer room.

OH!!! Another BIG sign of dgs' growing up -- aside from being in men's shoe sizes now.
DDIL told us tonight that he admitted to them that he has known for a while that Santa, the Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny, etc, are all pretend.
She said he wasn't upset though; he doesn't think we're lying about Jesus just because we lied about those things. (We always had Santa here with ds, and I've never actually known anyone who expressed that viewpoint, but lots of people caution Christian parents about it, so of course it was something I worried about.)
Time marches on...

Short one here....we thought the company wasn't coming but they showed up a bit after 6:00 so they worked in the dark. I held a nice flashlight, and DH had a bright bulb on a long extension cord which we moved around. One of the concrete tops wouldn't come off and it got broken so we now need to replace it. Concrete chunks from the top fell down inside and DH had to climb down in and put the chunks (big) one at a time and I pulled up with a rope. One of their guys came over and helped me haul it up, as it was very heavy. They were very nice and didn't seem to mind how late they were working.

Tomorrow will be another big batch of work out there.

We are out of just about every food. I've never seen things so empty.
