I implemented my idea to show what is planted in each raised bed. I only did the first two beds because I need to know if my design is weatherproof. I think they are, but I need to give them some time and observe if they hold up in storms.

DS49 and DGS16 called to chat while they were traveling to a weekend bike race. DS49 started his new job this week. It is a substantial change and challenge for him, but he thrives when there are big issues to solve. The more chaotic things get the calmer and more resolve DS49 becomes. DGS16 told me about attempting to do a 360 backward flip while snow skiing last weekend/. I reminded DGS16 of my desire to wrap him in bubble wrap to keep him safe. He sent me videos of some of his recent thrill-seeking activities. Raising teenage boys is not for the faint of heart!

While DD11 was playing with her rabbits I transplanted several garlic & welsh onion plants to better locations. I like having these yearly plants growing year-round in the corners of the raised beds.

Our electric flickered off once but came back on soon after. We are very windy but it was worse yesterday. When I was driving home I thought I was driving through dust but later found out it was from some of the wildfires burning. It was smoke. There was a big wildfire south of us and one close to us but up at the interstate. They had 2 interstate exits closed because of the smoke. I wonder if RRose noticed any of this down her way. She should have according to the news.

Tree trimming crews have been in our area trimming near the big electric lines coming up and down the major roads. I guess there are a lot of trees close to or over lines from the hurricane. When they came through here last summer, we could see what a poor job they did clearing the lines. If they'd done a better job we wouldn't have had nearly as much trouble with the electric after the storm. Our electric company hires subcontractors for this work. They need to try different ones next time.

Outside work today. Yesterday I picked up a couple plants. There was not a lot to pick from. So today I worked on the front flower garden, removing all the leaves the storm blew in and trimming all the dead stuff. I planted the new plants and trimmed the grass all around the bed. Cleaned out most of the dead stuff in the big bed under the palms where the amaryllis lives. I will have to do that once more but it looks better so far. I watered everything. It's all so dry here. We really need rain.

There's a ton more work to do outside. I have to do things slowly, it's getting too hard to do this work. DH came out and did some raking and gathered up some of the vegetation. He can't get down and do any of the actual work any more.

We went to church for a pizza party this afternoon. Dh napped after we came home. He's really not been good today and we're both wondering what's going on. As a gauge he already told our very good friend, "I probably won't be here in the morning." Unusual for him to say that this much ahead so a good indication of how poorly he feels. Dr. did put him on 2 potassium pills each morning instead of 1 when they saw him last Wednesday. He was wondering if he's getting too much now instead of too little. He was taking 1 each morning and 1 each morning with 1 additional on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings (days he takes Metolazone for fluid retention,) He's still so swollen though his weight seems to be doing well. But, here we are again on the weekend, wondering what tomorrow will bring?

We brought home extra pizza for dsonil so that's what he fixed himself for dinner. I had oatmeal and dh had some the remainder of his ice cream from this afternoon.

Think I may as well get ready for bed too. DD is working a college hockey tournament all weekend so don't expect her home much before midnight. Last night it was 1am.

While we have been dealing with a gurgling septic system, our neighbours had a flood in their basement today. A "gushing" flood. Thankful we don't have a basement.

I told them they could park on our driveway if needed.

The snow stopped in the early afternoon.

I didn't nap and am exhausted now. Heading off to bed in a few minutes.

Dgs napped 2.5 hours and then was clingy for most of the rest of the day. He ate well at supper and was happy when we went for a walk over to the other building so I could put up signs.

He loved seeing his cousins online and then he went off to bed nicely. I called dgs6 back and read the first two chapters of our new book, Malcolm At Midnight. Malcolm is very small, very intelligent, has bright dark brown eyes, just like dgs6. But Malcolm is a rat, unlike dgs6.

And our power is back on! I wonder if there was some kind of microburst of wind here? There were several large trees down in the larger neighborhood and all had to be cleared. When I came home earlier after dark I realized how many homes were without.

Dh went to Torah study and, after I got moving I had McD breakfast and went to the library to charge electronics and research. We went to dfriend’s river house at 1 or so and spent the day there. I napped because I did not sleep well last night. We took steaks from the freezer to grill.

I’ll assess our refrigerator and freezer in the a.m.
