After Lunch CI ~
I did a loaf of oatmeal bread, kitchen smells great.
I washed up the dishes after doing the bread I still need to put those away.
Went to a short walk & yd. sale got a dog crate took ddog with to try it out for size it was perfect and she went right in it.
It has a top handle and petco brand. I am pleased washed it out and changed the door of it to open on the other side, that works better.
It is smaller and fits the jeep better too. I used to work with the guy I got it from, and the house was a neighbor I knew the owners so trust
that it did not have "cooties". LOL!

I emptied out branches in a trash can and it is freed up to put leaves in when I do the rounds out front for that.

Charging up my phone while I take a bit of a break.

Had to look on the container and the flowers I got the other day were English Daisies.
Got some fun vids. of them the garden color and my tea pot and have them scheduled to come out later.
I did not mow leaving the flowers and weeds for the bees at least that is what I am telling myself my story and I'm sticking with it anyway!

I have been out dead heading more herbs and have one round all around the beds on the inner yard the outer borders are still to do.
I need to pick up still what I dead headed off.
I dead headed more and burned what I had ready to go.
Came in smelling like I'd been camping so did the ddog.
We have both bathed and dog towels have been washed & I have a load of my stuff going now.
Need a rest break day.

I too was glad to see Elizabeth come through last night!

I've worked on the tax return most of the day. Dh has gone to his office to get more info for me. Looks like we will owe, so I'm glad I got to it.

We're going to dneighbor's river house at five for dinner there, and it's a beautiful day. This is a different place than our dfriends who own the condo on the river. I've never been to dneighbor's house.

When DS14 came home for lunch I asked him to help take Perfect Dog Sam to get his yearly shots. The vet office is 11 miles away so even with 22 miles of driving we were back home in 45 minutes. Perfect Dog Sam lived up to his name and didn't cause an ounce of trouble during the trip or time inside the vet office. Sam has only failed to live up to his name twice = when he ate 36 meatballs off the kitchen counter and the second time was recently when Sam ate an entire large pizza. Note to self.... don't leave Sam alone in the kitchen.

I have another pan of roasted sweet potatoes done. I'm slowly working my way through processing the rest of 2022 harvest. I am amazed how long they are lasting.

Well, y'all know I rarely ever see the sun rise (and never by choice, LOL!)

Today, we were up, reluctantly, at 8:00 a.m., and off to the first of three ballgames. (DGD's softball, where we won 10-0? (10-2?) I need to check the book again. DGD struck out, but she said she had fun. Her "best friend" is on the team and she just enjoys, I think, being a "big girl" and playing ball like her brother.

Then off to his game, which started about 90 minutes later. Oh my goodness. The parking was impossible. People were parking on the curb, in the grass, EVERYWHERE. I let dh and dgs out of the car and circled and circled and finally * FINALLY * was rewarded with a parking place just across the aisle from the handicapped spaces.

DGS's team lost both games, but it was kinda exciting for us, because dgs was the starting pitcher. His very first time ever in his life to pitch! DH was very nervous, LOL... he had watched dgs in practice and dh said, "He has never thrown a strike in his life. He is NOT a pitcher." DH even told the coach this, when the coach told him dgs was starting. The coach just said, "Well, he has been on me to let him pitch so he's going to pitch today." (DH said he replied, "Well, he better get off you.") As it turned out, he didn't throw a lot of strikes, but he did make them swing at a bunch of pitches, and he only walked two out of eight batters. The ones who got on base made it by fielding errors, except for one who got a double. Anyway, it was definitely not embarrassing for dgs, and he enjoyed his one inning as a pitcher. (Mercifully, someone else went in for the second inning, and while dgs left the game with it tied at 4-4, we ended up losing 9-5. So dgs did not go on record as the losing pitcher.)

It's unlikely he'll get many more opportunities. Today, the coach took the idea of "Fun Day" very seriously. He used six pitchers in the two games, and only one of them has ever pitched in a regular season game. He put the boy who has been batting last at the lead-off position and basically let the boys play whatever fielding positions they wanted.
There's two ways to look at this. The old ball coach, Sheldon, says doing like this leads the boys to get into bad habits, they don't take it seriously either, and they will play sloppy on Monday when they are back in the regular season. OTOH, I'm very pleased to see that this coach wants them to have fun and obviously doesn't have preconceived ideas about who is and who isn't his star players. So many coaches pick out their top few and really concentrate on those, and the others are just taking up space, batting their turn, and never really given an opportunity to show if they have talent or not. We had never met this guy before, and I think he has been better to dgs than any of the coaches he's had.
DGS is NOT as talented an athlete as his daddy was. He basically plays outfield all the time, and he makes contact with the ball when he's batting most of the time, but he gets thrown out at first sometimes because he's not quite fast enough, or doesn't hit it quite far enough. (When ds was this age, he was usually the fastest runner on the team, and if he got on first, he was most likely going to score.) DGS did get a hit, but got caught stealing third today, although it was the coach's fault for sending him -- dgs said, "I knew I couldn't make it and I thought, 'This is stupid of me to be running.'"

But we are TIRED. We were at the ballfields for over 5 hours today. (It was only about 15 minutes from dgd's game to dgs's.)
I came home, took dgd to the other grandparents, and came back home and took a nap! And I could fall asleep again right now!
I did get dgrands' clothes washed from the weekend, because dgs has team pictures tomorrow.

LOL at Perfect Dog Sam in the kitchen, LadyM... I remember when you told about the meatballs!!!
And that is so amazing, what a good haircut can do for a girl! I'm so happy for dd11!!!

Hope you enjoyed the river, Twins. It was a beautiful day here too! We're a little sunburned, but we kept spraying ourselves and it's not too bad.
I could tell the kids were tired after being out in the sun so much, though.

Nancy, when our yard man is slow to get back to our EOW mowing, I tell myself we are helping the environment by helping the bees!

(((Rose))) I hope your stomach feels better soon. I've been struggling with the same issue. Imodium didn't really help a lot, and it seemed to cause more cramping.

I'm so sorry I missed Elizabeth yesterday!

Also thinking of Dee & dd... and so glad Dee and Mr. Dee will be back together soon. I know you'll both feel better when you get home and can see for yourself what's going on, Dee!

Kathryn, it looks like you have gotten a TON of work done! Don't be so hard on yourself!

Harriet, is the ferret fairly calm around y'all? I always thought of ferrets and kind of miniature Tasmanian devils.

BTW, I am more Ford than Ferrari, that's for sure, but most of the time, I seem to have more in common with the poor embarrassed old GMC truck. LOL, Harriet. I saw your comment of sympathy for the old truck yesterday. We are a General Motors family for the most part, except for one period with a Mercury Grand Marquis, and the Thunderbird that my excuse for getting together with dh. "You've got to take me for a ride in your new car..."
