UP dressed
took can to curb & brought it back.
Went to Bible study.
Did a store run.
I have unloaded food & put it away mostly meat I get at the nearby market.
I have a plan for lunch and meals this week now.

Lunched at home.
Put on m y big coat & walked ddog steps are done for today it is 10 min. after noon here!
It snowed on top & all around us freeze warning up for tonight.

I have cleared a line of flower beds in the back of the property yea for that progress and have enough to fill 2 trash cans full of weeds & leaves,
but the one is only half can size.
Kitchen duty has ground pork in the oven and smells great I will put it on pizzas later.

I just pulled 3 mini pizzas out of the oven to freeze most of them.
Made up cookie dough too.
Cleaned up the dishes and put them away after my cooking adventures.
Mixed up bread dough for cooking later it is in the fridge now.

Hello. I'm so glad I have to do my taxes early because of the business. Something I don't have to worry about while everybody is scurrying to get theirs done. I would be barely done on time if the business deadline wasn't earlier than the personal one. Since we're an S Corp., the business gets put in the personal for taxing so just as easy to do them together. Maybe another year for this and then we're done. I hope, I hope.

Spent time working on the computer, removing old files, stuff we no longer needed. I probably have a paper copy of most of it anyway. I worked on resetting the atomic clock too. It's a nice big square, easy to see from the Kitchen. Every day we can look up and see the date, the time, the inside and the outside temperature. The most important thing is the DAY. Not for me, but I always seem to know what day it is. Went to church yesterday, yes it's Monday...but DH gets very confused and loses track of what day it is, and that affects how he takes his pills from the pill container. He feels very confused without it and we've been fussing with it for weeks now. I took the batteries out and am attempting to reset it back to the start. I hope this works.

Just one of the non-working things that's annoying us in the house.

Other non-working thing is I believe I need a new flapper for the office toilet. DH says it might be the chain too tight but I don't have a chain, I have a plastic strap, sort of rigid and no way to adjust that. I don't know much about plumbing except that the water from the flapper drain leaks into the bowl.

hello all! I really wish I could say hi individually - but you all know how much admiration and respect I have for each of you!!!

I am tired.
not exercising all winter has taken a toll but I hope my outside work and time outdoors will get me back to normal!

Dh has an appointment with the surgeon on May 2. dd older made the appointment.
He has been happy today. he did laundry and folded towels.

trimmed the roses well and fertilized two of them.
I also worked in the garage.
dead head the daffodils in the front. I put in Tahlia in the back and they are almost ready to bloom.
made a pot (for now inside) of herbs, lettuce, spinach.

Home again, finally. I worked out, then had to go through a grocery for a snack because I was so hungry. Then I went by temple and ended up visiting with dfriend who is president now, and then on to plant nursery. Got my red geraniums and a white one, asparagus ferns, which I love, basil and a tomato plant. So tomorrow must get to Lowes for the garden soil. I'll look there for a second tomato plant perhaps. I have several pots to fill in addition to the raised beds. I was attempting to pull up the dead rosemary plant last weekend and it wouldn't come out of the planter. Dh took it over to the edge of our hill to try to just dump it all out and let the large pot go over the edge. Not sure whether I need another - this one was on the firepit patio, and there's another that size there, plus a couple of smaller pots to fill. So will need another trip, also to try to find the tomato plant that I favor - it's Husky Red cherry tomato, which I seem to have luck with.

Anyway, dh has gone on to bowling, last night. So I'm going to read a bit.

After being so unmotivated early, I have over 10K steps now.

bw2, so glad to see your check in. I hope you are getting outside enough to lift your spirits - would be good for that husband of yours too. Does appt mean that surgeon will assess whether surgery is possible?

We went out for supper. Dh had a selection of seafood and spicy things. I had rice and short ribs.

It snowed here today but not enough to stick around.

I spent the afternoon reading a James Patterson book. I'm almost finished the Alex Cross series. Wondering which author to read next. Patricia Cornwell or Kathy Reichs. Hmmm...

Had a wonderful afternoon with dgdC, enjoying fabrics and quilt blocks, plants and gardening. She has a ball practice this evening and a game tomorrow. She is such a cheerful child, so observant. She notices the slightest differences in colors, textures, leaves. This plant is healthier than that one, this plant is making larger leaves, or "Grandma will say this fabric is too busy", etc. I had green grapes for her - her favorite.

Ds also came and mowed our grass plus ran the weed-eater. Nice to have them back from vacation at Outer Banks. Dgs caught a 30-inch fish, they say - don't remember what kind, but his mother made a meal of it for them. I knew they were back Sunday evening because I heard our grand-dog barking for the first time in a while. Ds said he had a laugh when he opened the chicken house and saw a bunch of watermelon rinds, down to skins.

Yipes, this cut grass does cause some watery eyes and runny nose, though.

I've watered garden beds all day. Started working with some baskets.

The tacos were quite good. Lots of onion, tomato and romaine!

Well, it is nice to see the village bustling even if I wasn't today.

I got dh to the blood clinic shortly before 9. He was out and on his way home long before I got to dd's. I forgot that dgd was at preschool today so I had a lovely, uninterrupted, visit with Nonna. It was really good to see her in person. I'd like to get up there to visit at their house (we've done so every time we've been through there but we aren't through Thunder Bay often) and then on to Winnipeg to see family there. But that may not happen this summer.

After visiting with Nonna, I did a quick run to Costco for yogurt and 3 other items I thought of at the last minute.

Dh's blood work came in fast as well, so he got word before we left for the other hospital appointment that his warfarin is unchanged for another week. If it is still stable next week, we might be able to go 2 weeks between blood draws.

The hematologist says that it looks like the heart valve repair has stopped the hemolysis and thus he's done with dh. He'll do another blood test after June 5th (hopefully the rest of the stuff will be over by then) but we won't hear from him unless things don't continue to be as good as they are or improving. He did warn that with an tissue valve to expect not all numbers will return to where they were after the first operation 2 years ago. Apparently the valve works well but is not original equipment and the body will compensate in minor ways, including changes to hemoglobin. He also explained why dh was not on iron. It was normal last September when it was checked and he expects it will still be normal when it is checked in June because it wasn't lack of iron that was messing with the hemoglobin, it was the hemolysis.

It was rush hour when we left the hospital and I asked dh to check with the GPS as to our route home. He did and told me it was taking Riverside to Baseline. So I headed towards Riverside. I knew the ways home but it was rush hour and I didn't know how bad the highway would be and it made a difference as to what direction I took from the parking lot. Looking at the instruction for Riverside it had me turning left but it is an off-ramp from a bridge over the river, and then a left turn so I said the instruction was wrong. Then I realized it said Riverdale and it wasn't Baseline but Carling I was being routed to. I don't know Old Ottawa South so decided to take that route (more direct than Riverside/Baseline) and explore.

We got home reasonably pain free in 35 minutes compared to the 23 minutes the highway took on the way there. We stopped at the grocery store and picked up dh's meds and a cucumber for me. And we were going to buy something ready made to eat but on the way into the store I suggested grilled cheese which was met with approval and didn't need to buy anything.

Dinner was good, I read to dgs, then shortly after that, ds called and talked for an hour. He's at a conference and is bored sitting in the hotel room but didn't want to go on a pub crawl with the others. We'll meet him for lunch tomorrow since his hotel is across from the concert hall, and I'll try and start dinner in the crock pot before we leave for the concert.

The public service is to go on strike tomorrow unless there's a contract signed tonight by 9. If they are on strike, they have to go downtown from their work-from-home offices to set up picket lines. So parking will be hard to come by and we'll take the bus. If they don't strike, I'll drive to save time and walking for dh.

He did walk home in 36 minutes from the blood draw which is very impressive since it is 1.9 miles.

I didn't walk today (or yesterday) but I did manage 4K steps because of the stores and the hospital walk from the parking lot.

Tomorrow I'll get walking in for sure.

Good evening! It looks like I have a great deal of CUOPing to do from the past few days.

Our big deal around here has been getting our new boiler installed. They assembled the new one on Friday, then today, they got rid of the old one and installed the new one. They also put new vents on the radiators. Once they were done, they went over things with me. I wish DH had been home. I’m worried that I will forget some of it. It’s too late today to do it; DH and I are already up in bed, and he’s leaving early tomorrow and won’t be back until Thursday.

He’s leading a retreat from school. It’s been chaos for the worst of reasons: This weekend, one of the students at DH’s school took his own life. They ran a special schedule on Monday to break things to the other students. Their head counselor has been following the student’s schedule to, as DH put it, “talk about the empty chair in the room” with any students who needed it. Anyhow, the original plan for the retreat was to leave tomorrow after school and come back at the end of the school day on Friday. But the funeral is Friday, and the wake is Thursday night, so as fast as they could, they shifted the retreat to start tomorrow morning and get students back in time that they can attend the wake if they want. DH was late getting home today because he had to program a special bell schedule for Friday, because they’re rearranging the day to allow students to attend the funeral. I can’t imagine.

I shouldn’t have led with the furnace; I don’t have any other good news to leaven things with. I will look forward to reading good news as I CUOP.
