Dgd is a no show I am not surprised.
You my friends will understand more than most I trust.
I have been purging planners from the last couple of years I have filled apx. one a month with writing thoughts plans etc.
It is a job but I have reclaimed the discs. to reuse for later and the covered can snap on and off.
I wanted to get this done before the next planner refills come in a couple days or a week.
I made dog treats.
This is great as I made room for the unused journals I took out of the living room the other day.
I have a plan for my dinner as well.
I had a nap this afternoon.
I am going to combine some planners like the garden ones and / or glean notes from them for future use.

If it is a file attached to an email you can download a copy to any place you want to keep it. If the information is included inside of an email, you can save it several different ways. Screen capture is one possible way. Doing a cut/paste of the email information into a word document and then saving that word file is another way.

I am so lost. Stuff I get like this usually is a short message in the email then a clickable place to see what's attached to the email...and when I do that there is a down arrow at the top of the page and clicking on that there's the report opened up of whatever they've attached. Once the report is opened up and I'm able to read it how do I get it into my documents? This stuff typically stays in the temporary email file, but mostly it's never stuff I need to keep and eventually I just delete. These 2 reports are important ones I'd like to keep. See, I'm lost at your "download a copy to any place you want to keep it". I know so little about how to do this stuff. When I download it, it's in my email program only.

I guess I could fool around with something else that's been downloaded and see if I can do it. Right click on it or something? I've never successfully been able to do this. When I make a new spreadsheet or document and save it, it asks me where to save it and I usually tell it Documents. But this place doesn't ask me what to do with it once it's opened. Ok I read all this again... cut/paste sigh...another learning curve.... screen capture.... bigger sigh.... ok I've got my windows 10 dummies book out now. Wouldn't you think I'd know these basic things after all these years?

We're supposed to have rain most of the weekend. I wonder if that's why I'm achy today?

Harmony: Most of the time that I have a file in my email that I want to move into the 'right' folder as oppose to only having it in my email, I simply print the file. With Windows 10, in the Chrome browser, one of the options that comes up when I ask to print is "save to pdf" which is a file format. If I select that, it then asks me for a file name and location and I give it that and then the file is locally on my computer and I don't have to be connected to the internet to read it.

I read my email in my browser (Chrome) and commonly print that way to make sure I have an off-line copy.

You can also get pdf programs (the most common one is Adobe) and when that is loaded on your computer, the print to pdf option will be there as well. On my computer, Microsoft has made a pdf printer option available (probably through Office 365) so I still don't have Adobe and just use the Microsoft version when I'm printing reports from my accounting software, for example.

I've been MIA for over 48 hours. Caught up in J&C so am aware of what is going on.

When I left, I had gurgling in my pipes, an excellent sign. Unfortunately, when they tried to get the system up, it failed.

We are looking at a/c being available June 9.

So it has been a rough 48 hours.

Only a few people showed up to the afternoon cold drinks and fun on the patio. So that was a bust. Dh grilled our dinner after and we had a lovely time sitting there in the heat (about 90) but fresh air and no sun beating in on us (blocked by the building.)

Yesterday was even warmer. I drove to ds's and babysat for 7 hours then came home, had reheated pizza for dinner, and then a zoom meeting. The living room was about 85 for that but I had a fan on me. Ds has air conditioning but since it had run all night, TG set it at 80 and the house felt very warm. Dgs wanted to go out and play but it was over 90 and too much work to take proper care of him so I managed to distract him by changing his diaper in preparation for leaving the house and the indignity of that meant he remembered he was hungry and it was lunch time.

He napped for 2.25 hours and I dozed in and out on the couch until the house got hot enough to finally trigger the a/c to turn on. Then I perked up a bit.

I showered before bed both Wednesday and Thursday nights and was sleeping ok.

Today I had the other grands for the day. Dd sent a note saying due to forecast thunderstorm and me not having a/c, the day had blown up. I pointed out that the apartment was manageable, we'd have a fan on us and sprayed down with water and could go to the park while it was under 80 and then if we were too hot after lunch, go to a museum. Her lunch plans with her best friend, who is visiting from out of town, would be just fine if they chose any one of a dozen restaurants in my neighbourhood that had a wall that opened up onto a patio so they could sit inside but it was almost like being outside. They had a wonderful time and then the friend came back here with dd in order to say hi to us.

The kids and I skipped the park, played on the balcony until the sun came around on it and, due to a shower curtain up over the kitchen patio door, and a bit of high cloud, the apartment never got over 85 all day. It is now just at 80 but breezy and not humid so very pleasant.

Dh took everyone home and picked up Chinese food for himself and I heated up something for me. After dinner I worked out on the balcony until the bugs were attracted to my screen. It was lovely.

Tonight will be warm (60) and the building is so hot that the radiator pipes feel warm but the heat is off, they are circulating room temperature water and the room temperatures are so high, the pipes feel warm. The concrete walls radiate heat well past midnight and when it only goes to 60, they don't cool off enough overnight to make sleeping easy without a fan or wind coming in. BUT today was the last hot day. Tomorrow and Sunday are sunny (so the drapes will still have to be closed) but only mid-70s. And overnights will drop low enough to start cooling off the concrete. Then a week of rain.

The facebook group is spitting mad and toxic but I'm doing my best to keep people behaving. Last night I put in a one post per day on the a/c policy. Everyone has to post there. It didn't quite work but came close enough. There was one extra on a/c (just reporting the workers were onsight) and one about dancing in the rain once it came to cool things down (then the storm blew past without rain!) That was much better than the 9 complaining posts yesterday.

Tomorrow is garage sale day in our neighbourhood so I might go out for that. Or not.

Aside from that, I have nothing on. It is fair weekend in dd's neighbourhood, so we may go over to that. Sunday is church, and Pride Sunday, and I'm ushering so I get to wear my new Pride sash. My meeting after church was postponed. Again.

Yes, Harmony -- when I open an attachment, and click "save," it gives me an option -- like the last thing I received was a Word document from the treasurer for the teacher group. I clicked save and it popped up with the option to save as "downloads," but I can change that to "documents" or "photos" or whatever.
I don't know how to do a "screen shot" or "screen capture" on my computer, though. I've never known what people were talking about when they said that. I could use some instruction on that from some of you tech savvy folks!

So, dh is having some disappointment, caused by a woman's prerogative to change her mind. (The "woman" being seven years old, LOL.)
To begin with, he's really feeling a lot of pain in his knee tonight -- started last night. He just stood up and something popped, and he's been in a lot of pain ever since. He did get up this morning and went to lunch with some football friends at the local steakhouse. Only six of them showed up today, but sometimes there's a dozen or so. They all played football together in high school, and one of the guys tries to get them together once a month or so. I was glad he made the effort to do that. Neither one of us have much social life, so I'm glad he keeps in touch with some of these men.
Then we went out to eat tonight with dgd. She had turned down the other grandpa's invitation to go fishing tomorrow morning with him, ds, and dgs, saying she had rather stay with us.
After we got back to town, we stopped to get gas, and she got her sad face on and said she missed her daddy, and she wanted to go home and go. So... much discussion and reminders that her daddy had told her they'd go fishing again on another day, and that Granddaddy would be disappointed if they didn't get their Saturday breakfast at Hardee's... still nothing would do her but to go home, so we took her home. And now her daddy is a little aggravated too, because dgs is already next door at the other grandparents' house, where they go to bed EARLY, and ds has dgd for the night with a 6:00 a.m. alarm for fishing. Y'all know how SHELDON is when his routine is messed up, and Saturday mornings with dgd are one of his favorite parts of the week. He tends to think in all or nothing terms. Well, she doesn't want to stay tonight; she's outgrowing us; soon she won't want to spend any time with us at all... gloom despair and agony oh me...
I, OTOH, am not extremely upset. I spent over two hours with both of them today, in the hot sun, and dgd was with us after we left the pool until almost 8:00 p.m. I love them so much, but -- what you were saying earlier, LadyM -- it can get overwhelming sometimes!

We had a disappointing night last night too. We ate at Panera bread -- my choice -- but although I asked for no mayo on the sandwich, they neglected to tell me it came with a very mayo-ish dressing that I would have also liked to have left off!
Then, the movie we both wanted to see, despite being listed on the website, had apparently had its last night the night BEFORE. So we saw Guardians of the Galaxy, which was okay, but just not what we had in mind when we left the house.
Tonight we ate at a little seafood place that we both LOVE, but it's over 30 minutes away, and it's out of the way to go to, so we don't eat there a lot.

Lucylee, I've just read about that. My book says to click on the windows icon (the 4 pane window) and PRTSCR, but on some keyboards you have a key for that. Mine says print screen and it is to the right of my F12 key. Look around, you probably have one. One time a long while ago I tried to do that and it didn't work, but that was the old printer which didn't play nicely with this newer computer. Maybe the new printer will cooperate nicer!.

I did some studying in my dummies book. Hard to understand stuff I think I just skimmed past quickly. Realized my problems are mostly because I do not know what the keyboard prompts are. Control V, X, C. Just never learned them. I use Cntrl P all the time to print.

Lucylee, when you open an attachment, usually I don't get the save option. And the only places I've seen that are on tax payments which I don't keep paperless, I print out the page, so I've never done that.

So I made some notes about all this and put them in a file. Emailed them to myself with the file as an attachment. Tomorrow I will fool around with that and see if I can move it around like it says.

When one is learning all this, the instructions make no sense. Select a text. What does that mean to someone who does not know that select is holding the mouse key down and highlighting? Once one learns this, it all happens automatically, with little to no thinking about it, like riding a bike. People try to tell me stuff and I go huh what does that mean? It's so stupid that after all these years I don't know how to do this basic stuff. I always wanted to take a class somewhere, but never had the time. My age group didn't grow up with anything electronic. I learned shorthand and typing. I'm a whiz at all that!

Anyway, I will go back and keep reading, I stopped when I saw what Lucylee said.

Kathryn, what's puzzling is when you give a print command you have the option to save to a pdf. Saving to another form is a completely different command than print, why would that come up when you tell it to print? I'd have to see that to understand I guess. I do have pdf on this computer. We used to get all sorts of things in that form. People don't use it as much as they used to. Our window/door engineering comes in pdf form but it's already in that form and we don't have to change it. Hmmm seems to me I might see that on the tax payments but I don't pay attention to it because I don't save them on the computer. Well, what I DO know is I don't get an A+ in any of this. About the time I get good with something they change it all.

Sometime I'll share why this is all hard for me to learn. I've talked with my neurologist about it. Repetition helps. Old age doesn't help either.

  1. In the upper right, there are 3 horizontal lines, click them
  2. Select Settings
  3. Select General on the left
  4. Under Files & Applications check the box "Always ask where to save files"
  5. Now you will get the standard file dialog to save your downloads
• Microsoft Edge Browser
  1. In the upper right, click the ellipses ("...")
  2. Select Settings
  3. On the left, select Downloads
  4. Turn on "Always ask me if I want to save or open it when downloading"
  5. When you download a file, at the browser bottom will be a dialog where you can choose "Save as" and put it where you want
• Other browsers will likely be similar

And for LadyMaverick: Don't rule out medications. They can be used to give you a "jump start" to get you out of a problem, but not be needed forever. BTDT

Results for me knee: my problem is rather serious arthritis. I can get steroid shots every 3 months if I need them. And I may not need them. Worst case is eventual knee replacement, but not likely in this decade. I am also getting a prescription for a non-narcotic pain reliever and some exercise suggestions, which I am looking forward to starting. I have done the first filing for my primary insurance for the treatment on the ship. Tuesday, I will find out what they cover and file the remainder with the travel insurance company.
