And it's just fine, Lucylee. You are on the run a lot of times with the grands, so enjoy a quiet week when you can!
And I haven't done much today either. The cleaning lady did her magic and I wasted some time upstairs. Then I watched a webinar and and then finally did some research. Was underway when dh got home at 4 p.m. so I played another hour. We've walked the dog.
We're having dinner out with friends tonight. The dh texted dh about dinner out - these are the people that the wife drives me crazy sometimes. OTOH, we'll see then and then we're done for a few weeks? So we're having dinner out and they have a small biz so things are always later with them. The reservation is for 7:15 so we're waiting around.
I need to clean up a bit.

Re: The first Friday of the summer 2023
By surprise, I had to go out twice today, helping dd43 get her car to and from service. This became extra important because the part for the van is still not here, so car must be attended quickly. I'm happy to help, although that's pretty much the day. She cannot do extra errands when she's with me because she must return home promptly. I had no errands that leant themselves to a one-person job.
In the middle, our green-eyed boy became suddenly sick, ashen-faced, weak, tummy. Oh, my. It is the first (?) day of the State Championship Baseball Playoff series, and he had been so hopeful! For today, a reprieve in that it turned out the field was considered flooded, so the game was not played. But tomorrow, I see no way he can be up to it. Ds got a half-day off work, and now wishes he'd waited until Monday, but who knew. He may miss everything.
Time to make supper - homemade tacos.

(Lucylee) feel better. Don't be hard on yourself! You're not living in a hoarded squalor house. Somebody is seeing to that!
I have everything put away. After I finished all that I went out to help DH. He was cutting the grass after pulling weeds. I could just see how hard he was trying to finish everything. I brought up a couple rocks to fill in a hole under our fence not far from where we have 4 pineapples growing. We have another 3 around the base of the Oak tree on the other side of the yard too. We're trying to keep the raccoons from coming in. We have fencing around the first group and wire cages around the 2nd but neither are really secure against those critters.
I took a broom and smaller brush and dust pans and worked on the ledges, the pass through shelf and the floor. I still have no hose back there. It's all done as good as I could do it. Went back around and retrieved DH's knee pads for him. I do all sorts of little stuff like that to keep him from so much walking. He's really struggling. Brought the mail in. Got us some dinner, cleaned up kitchen, took a short nap.
So, been quite the day. Still watching those big storms out there, so far they're calling them tropical storms / depressions. Too many days out to see where they'll end up. I need a good sleep that's for sure.
Twins, hope your dinner with friends went well and not too annoying. You've really been busy this summer.

(((Harriet’s dgs)))
And thanks for the encouragement, Twins and Harmony. The house does “look” okay, but we’ll be able to write Happy Birthday on every flat surface by Tuesday, I’m afraid. Sigh.
TMI — but this constant diarrhea is beginning to get me down. I’ve lost approximately 10 pounds over the last month or so, which is WONDERFUL… but … I haven’t done ANYTHING to cause it. I had a colonoscopy 7 years ago and results were PERFECT. I was complaining about frequency and urgency at that time too, and doctor’s recommendation was high fiber diet and Metamucil. \o/
I understand his reasoning, and I’m really trying, but it still seems counterproductive. Sigh.
Imodium is not even helping much.
Long day trips tomorrow and Monday. Y’all say a prayer for me.

Re: The first Friday of the summer 2023
Hi everyone! I won't bore you with my long long list for the weekend. Let's just say I will not be bored. First priority is a vet trip for White Sock's eye infection. I have done bills and budget today. Wind took off shingles, I am getting closer and closer to needing a roof. I believe there is enough in my emergency fund. DD21 stayed over a week while her stepmother had covid. It was not a good week for her to stay here because I had plans every single evening.
This evening I was supposed to attend a church women's event. However, the leader got sick and it was cancelled. I do not have enough summer shirts to get through a week anymore, so I went shopping instead. I have not seen so many ugly clothes since high school during the year of the "vegetable colors" (ugly muddy colors). They have brought back the unflattering eighties sleeves. And the prices reflect the time machine rental. I found NOTHING!
I am almost ready to go to bed. I need to clean catboxes and take a fast shower.
