We'd had a call from that 90-year-old woman who wants rides to church. DH had said he'd pick her up at 7:30
I'd like to have a word with our road department. So many signs have never been replaced after the hurricane and I've gotten lost several times because of it. Well, happened today also. I thought I knew for sure which road this street comes off of and I watched for it as I drove along. No street. One was unmarked so I went back to that one and went down there... and ran into a lady I know well as she was helping a friend gather hurricane debris. Asked if this was the correct street, no it wasn't. She gave me directions so off I went. Couldn't find the street. There was another unmarked street and tried that one and down there this lady was sitting on her porch waiting. She takes a rollator with her so I was glad I'd had experience loading and unloading DH's in the car. We made it ok there and back.
She and I had a conversation with the assistant minister on the way in about the lack of ministry for shut-ins and those in hospitals and nursing homes. Stuff never got started properly after Covid. I hope he takes that comment back to the board.
She wants to go again next week because that is communion Sunday and apparently that is very important to her. It's very hard around here for anyone who doesn't drive. We're a bit rural with no public transportation to speak of.
I stopped at store on the way home after dropping her off and bought vitamins and finally a hose for the back yard and porch. Long nap this afternoon. I was going to make a steak I'd found in the freezer but DH had pizza going when I got up. Big PUPA in the house after that. I'd cleaned out the car and dusted and put all the tools away before church today. So much for a day of rest. Plumber is coming tomorrow. Hopefully.
LadyM, glad you are feeling better. Kathryn, are they making any progress getting those fires out? I sure hope so. DFriend's son and partner were down here visiting with their little baby and we sat in back of them and got to watch this precious baby during the service. I yawned a couple times whick amused her immensely and made her laugh! It's DH's birthday today. I made his birthday cake yesterday. I guess we don't make a big deal of birthdays any more.
