Managing Monday PWYC

I have managed to go to knitting and come home without forgetting to stop and get a large bag of dry cat food.

I have also managed to make a 3 bean salad for dh with tomato, onion and red pepper added to the beans. Plus there is a bowl of green jello hiding behind the bowl of salad. I had dh peel and cut up a pot full of potatoes for supper. I haven't decided whether we will have Shepherd's pie or meatloaf. I'm kind of leaning towards meatloaf. I've already taken out a pack of pork chops for tomorrow night.

It's pouring rain here with thunder rumbling,which is nice. It's good for the gardens. We had a thunderstorm earlier as well.

I made a potato/ground beef/cheese casserole. It has simple ingredients, quick to put together and familiar since I've made it many times over the years.

Our church family dropped food off onto our front porch. I appreciate their concern. The kids LOVE the goodies.

This morning DH used push mower on the middle section of the back yard. He used the zero-turn (riding) mower on another of the back yard sections. Our back yard is divided into 3 fenced in sections and each of the sections has both drive through and walk through gates. He always chooses to push mow the middle section. Ditto with me and the section that I mow. I choose to push mow and bag the grass. Since we have a green grass jungle happening along with the dangerous heat, I am going to ask DS14 to mow the back yard section that I typically take care of. Then i can start fresh without a jungle waiting for me.

We've got thunder here too. And heavy rain.

And something is up with the air quality, it seems to have plummeted except neither the provincial AQHI nor the AQI website are updating their statements but system readings are low (from 176 unhealthy to 34 which is good range). Apparently the smoke had moved away in the higher altitudes a few hours ago but we live in a valley and the bad PM and gasses didn't blow away but settled in our air, leaving the readings bad. Now that the rain is here, we are surmising it is washing the air clean.

The hills have disappeared again but that's the heavy rain blocking the view.

Vacuuming, dusting, and mopping are done (except for the office.) The last load of laundry is folded and put away. I'm down to having to tidy paperwork around my desk to be finished my goals for today. The office will get done tomorrow morning.

We leaving in 20 minutes. I'll take a moment to check out LadyM's recipe.

Edit: I love Becky's line, "Less mess is best!" when she's talking about saving one cooking dish. And the dish looks great.

Good to hear encouraging news from Dee!

We are on our way to Atlanta — one hour away from lunch at the Varsity. Dgrands are being so good, dh is managing okay, so far we’re having a great trip.

I lost a post earlier, I think.

I got groceries, had the car washed and dropped off a package at the UPS store. I got myself a healthy salad at the grocery and added lettuce to it for my lunch. I had forgotten we have chicken wraps from Costco that I could have eaten for lunch.

I'm going to retest for the lab work in a couple of weeks - got an email back from doc who is filling in this week.

CI crew was here around 8 just as I was done walking the dog.
They called and I was getting ready to move my rigs out of the way.
Dgd was not here to help so I was the ground person worked on the rest of the grape vine piles. My bs is great now!
Got em loaded in the trailer. The roof is half off and under-layment the tar paper layer not sure what this product is called on one side is done.
I have swept the patio and cleaned up moss they blew off.
They did not have a leaf blower - gave em mine I never used it dson gave it so me for leaves I do not like the noise.
I also gave em the tarp. It had not been used. And dgson got two bags and back pack I got free at a yd. sale is happy & can use em.

They are getting ready to start tearing off the deck.
Rain is less than 10 mi. away they are covering what is exposed. / it went around us sun is back out now.
They all have done lots of roofs and were talking about working out after they got off work today.

Donuts were a hit, I had juice jugs for water for them half gallon, and diet soda was fine it was what I had here.
Ice cream maybe later.
No air guns today that is tomorrow.

I am wearing a bright yellow shirt, easily seen. Had to run when one of the rolls came off the roof
they yelled I ran and ddogo ran too. We are okay.
I am taking another break.
11,000 + steps in already.
Had them help lift some of the cans of stuff into the trailer for me after a couple hrs.
Very pleased with progress and glad I had a push broom and snow shovel works for clean up!

Meatloaf is in the oven. Potatoes are boiling on the stove. Dh is outside doing something.

Thank you for the channel rec. LadyM. I love her accent! And I love easy recipes like this. I think a bit of fire roasted tomatoes might be good in her casserole. I get them ready to heat up in a can. Definitely trying this, I can freeze a bit of it for my easy-dinner-after DH's surgery recovery time. Wrote down her channel name to look at her other things.

Twins, hopefully your new lab work will have a more cheerful message after.

My day got away from me, I didn't manage my time very well. DH is bored again and keeps coming for help to do stuff. I had to help him with the car as we charged up the A/C. Then I had to scavenger - hunt for some little L-brackets he made for the fence...he told me a couple inches long...but what he actually wanted was the long sticks he makes them from. Then I had to help feed the long sticks of vinyl into the chop saw as he cut them. Then I had to pack them up in a little box and go hunt the magic marker and mark that box. In between all that I answered a letter and paid 3 bills online.

I've been snacking and DH has leftovers for dinner.

We had a nice summer rain a bit ago. I went out to the mailbox with my umbrella. Had to smile as I could see the dumpster across in the churchyard and a teenager in it jumping up and down to make some room to get some more stuff in it. How many of us have mashed down our stuff to make room for more stuff in our bags and bins?! I've taken a bag and shook it down to add to the top sometimes. More for the landfill!

Nancy, BWTG getting the new roof. We just call it underlayment or peel-and-stick if it's the kind of tar paper that has a sticky backing to it. We have to use the sticky kind here, that's what our code requires. If the storms blow off our tiles or shingles or a piece of metal, the roof is still waterproof and won't let the rain in. We didn't have the code change here when we did our roof so I don't have the sticky kind. I wish I did.

Thank you, Harriet, for pointing to the good news regarding Dee, and much thanks to LadyM for getting the news for us in the first place!

I am sitting twiddling my thumbs. I have finished as much payroll work as I intended to do today, and I’ve got a load in the dryer, but I can’t start the washer with the next one because DC asked if I could hold off so they could take a shower. I suspect they are done, but between the rain and the fan going, I can’t really hear. I will have to go upstairs after I’m done here.

I spent 45 minutes in the late morning texting with DH. If we had tried it by voice and it had worked, it probably would’ve taken maybe 15 minutes. We’re not the fastest texters. Anyhow, he is in Spain on his pilgrimage/retreat/tour. They are traveling to a bunch of sites in the life of St. Ignatius; there are folks from all sorts of Jesuit high schools in the group. (St. Ignatius is the founder of the Jesuit order.) Yesterday and the first part of today was mostly exploring the town. DH told me about some of the local flora and fauna. He also decided that rather than have to worry about the TSA limits on liquids, he would just pick up toothpaste, sunscreen, etc. once he got there. Now, he speaks no Spanish, and certainly no Basque (this had me tremendously worried until I knew he had safely gotten to his tour group), so, after he returned from a trip to the drugstore, he was informed by one of his colleagues who did understand Spanish that he had bought very fancy sunscreen. His skin will be pampered, not just protected. He just texted a quick good night now; it’s almost midnight there.

I need to decide what to do about dinner. We may have enough leftover Chinese from last night that we can have it again tonight. If not, I will throw in a frozen lasagna. If I do the lasagna, it will take a good long time, so I’d better figure that out. I’m going to head upstairs and find out if DC is out of the shower or has turned into a prune. And what they want for dinner.

CI First Load full trailer went to the dump, ddogo went with bc that is her fav. thing!
I had to tell dd that dgd could not come unless dgd has a better attitude, she is grounded from her phone,
later in the week maybe I have a lot going on as it is.

The roof delivery was made with supplies for that, they have 3/4ths of it off now.
After unloading the packs of shingles lunch time & I made em cups of cheese cake ice cream and ch. sauce I "pretend" made that was a hit!
