Twins - you are so right! I makes me smile to think of Dee wisdom and encouragement.
whoa! No one is more surprised than I am. I ordered books for DS14 homeschool classes instead of doing lessons online. I hope I don't regret this decision, but the books are ordered and on their way. It means more hands-on grading for me instead of the online curriculum doing the grading. I keep evaluating my decision and keep coming up with the same answer. This is the best for DS14 at this point in his schooling. It may change in the future, but I can only focus on what is best for now. So... I am pressing pause on homeschool planning and waiting until the books arrive.
DS14 and DH wanted Braums for supper. They went through the drive through and brought extra food home with them. I ate ONE French fry and then stopped. I packaged and put in the refrigerator the extra cheeseburgers and the chicken strip dinner. I am following my eating plan for today.

Re: Monday Last of July PWYC
Hello. I am up and around because I think that is better for me. I have been sleeping in my chair all morning and afternoon. No, I am not better, I am still getting worse. Sick people spend so many days getting worse, then so many days getting better, down the slope to the other side. Last evening my throat began giving me real pain and it was like that all night and this morning. I couldn't swallow to take my pills, but I did get the 2 that are most important because they are tiny ones. Later in the afternoon I took the rest of them.
After all those hours of not even moving, I decided to go get the mail. One step at a time. Out in my PJ's. I retrieved the garbage can too. Was like a whole day's work. Biggest accomplishment: I took a shower. Clean nightie. Feels good.
This is really something. DH is still in bed. He said he was done for the day... feeling very tired. I asked him if he worked hard today. Feels like it. I just made some ramen noodles. Probably the most unhealthy thing available in this house. But it's smooth and soft and I can swallow it. News tonight: there's a covid spike this summer. I still don't regret not getting that last booster. I didn't like the way they did the testing on that one. They tested a variant for it, and then approved it for another thing, not even tested for. Asked my Doctor, she said yeah, I'd hold off on any more of them. They don't last very long anyway.
Ok, that's it for now. Hot noodles are making my head drain. Probably a good thing.

Re: Monday Last of July PWYC
I was hoping to see from Harmony by now. Glad you are still kicking. I didn't have the sore throat then (I had it before with the cold dgs and I had) but don't forget about ice water. It felt wonderful. Also frozen fruit if you have any in your freezer. I always have frozen blueberries.
It has been a surprising but successful day.
I got enough of the houseblessing done and myself s2s before dgs arrived at 9:30. His dad forgot the sippy cups he uses for his milk so had to go to the store to buy me some. Now I'll have my own set. I'm sure they were hoping to make do with just two until he's done with milk to go to sleep but I'm relieved to have them here.
He played nicely this morning and at a reasonably good lunch. Then off to nap. But he never fell asleep. After 90 minutes I got him up. His crib is at the end of the bed and I use the bed to change him. He had pulled the towel I had down on the bed toward him to give him access to the baby wipe container and then pulled out at least half of them. Sigh....
That was cleaned up and then we started to get ready for the eye doctor appointments.
It was a strange place and dh and I kept disappearing into the little room, or couldn't be with him because we were staring into machines.
He had a melt down. Originally, I thought he'd be upset when I was in the room and the door shut and I heard him fussing but it was when dh went into that room he lost it. He wanted both of us to be with him at all times.
I had the soother so we deployed that and eventually dh took him out to the sidewalk seating. He was so upset that dh's shirt was soaked by the time I got outside and I snuggled with him for a while before we headed home via the grocery store. He probably would have been fine had he had the nap but without it, he just couldn't recover and the world seemed scarier.
By the grocery store he wasn't crying but was constantly checking I was near the stroller. But he was his happy self once back in the apartment.
He grazed a lot in the leadup to dinner so didn't eat much but that's OK because of the good lunch and the healthy grazing.
We played for a bit and then into the bath. He had a great time kicking his legs and splashing up a storm. I had a flashback to doing the same thing when I was little. Then I got him into his PJs and he was in bed 40 minutes early. I don't expect to hear from him until 6 tomorrow.
I'm off to bed now myself since it is almost 9. I dozed for 30 minutes but that was making up for the bad sleep last night. I'll do stretches first because I'm pretty sore. I had to ice my knees after the walk. On the way there, dh had to go back for our sunglasses (which we needed after the eye appointment) so I walked the whole way, pushing the stroller and walking as fast as I could because we were tight on time to get there. I made it with 3 minutes to spare but know I'll be sore in a few days because of bending over to push the stroller along, while also holding onto my walking poles. I had my poles because I thought dh would be pushing but he wasn't with us. At least I had them for the way home but my back is sore now from the bad posture while walking.
Tomorrow's adventure if the weather cooperates is going to the training school airport to watch the planes takeoff and land.

Re: Monday Last of July PWYC
Harmony that is what my dr. said too about the last C-19 vac.
I will not get the flu shot and c-19 on the same day again ever the worst mistake I made in my life I think! LOL! Just sayin'.
If I get em they will be at diff. times.
I have just had a relaxing afternoon except for putting things I've decluttered out in the shed that took a couple of trips.
Made my dinner, washed up the pans.
Watering in back now.
Got a vacuum out of here dd took the small one for her apt.
I spiffed up the spare room and it looks way better now got the excess stuff out of there & made the bed.
I did 15 in the creativity room I had been just closing the doors on those room while my back was healing up.
More trash went out too so that is good progress as well.

Re: Monday Last of July PWYC
Late night post but I wanted to check in with you all. I've been thinking of you ALL -- and especially the Harmony and Blessed households, and Dee's dfamily.
I have basically been a zombie all day today. Well, no, not even that much energy, to be truthful. LOL.
I did s2s and go to the post office and drug store with dh.
Saw a dear teacher friend/former student at post office and talked so long that DGS called me on the phone to see what was taking so long!!! He was with us and we took him to get lunch, then came home and dh took him back to his house.
I returned to the recliner and slept and read the rest of the day. It's really been nice.
Rose, I really enjoyed talking to friend, but it made me so thankful I am retired. She was talking about how much things have changed since I retired, and especially since Covid, and how frustrated she gets with some things. She is starting her 20th year and her son will be at the high school with her for the first time this year. She is even considering letting him do virtual school when he gets a little older. And she says teachers from other school systems who have come to our county say we have really nothing to complain about, compared to what they have seen in the larger systems. It is sad, and a little frightening, as a grandmother, to consider what public education may become in another ten years.
DGS will be starting 6th grade and will have different teachers for different subjects for the first time. (Last year he had two teachers, but this year, every subject will be a different teacher.) He is kinda looking forward to it, but kinda dreading the return to routine and early mornings. DGD will have a teacher who has been there for probably 10 years or so, and everyone who hears her name says, "Oh, she will love her!" so I feel good about her having someone with that much experience and such a good reputation.
Tomorrow, (hmm... today? It's past midnight, so? Later today, after I wake up from longer period of sleep, however, I will have to start getting my act together!
Must get house ready for dh's bday dinner (pizza, ds will pick up) -- I will have to pick up cake at Wmart --
AND I really, really need to do some laundry because today is laundry day and I did NOTHING.
MUST call dmom; haven't talked to her in several days, I think...
So... I will be "paying the fiddler" for my laziness today. OTOH, after the busy weekend we had, I definitely needed a nothing day.
Hope you all have a great day to start August. I probably should have started a new post for the new month, shouldn't I?
