I've been to the book store and I also went to the Costco business centre because they sell stuff geared to businesses, including variety stores. I got what I think is a good deal on large bottles (2 litre size) for soda. We got ripped off on Sunday when we could only find some of the zero coke at a gas station at almost $5 per bottle. I paid less than $2 including tax, per bottle at Costco.

I'm off to start reading my newest J. D. Robb book and dh has the latest Stephen King. Window a/c is making the bedroom like a walk in freezer. Dh is happy. I have blankets, so I'm happy.

Still no plans for supper.

Kathryn, a wedding and a tea in the park sounds lovely.

I finished up the dining room. The coating that I put on my picture made it stick to the brown paper I had on the table and I had to cut it off. I had coated the edge too and it had run onto the paper. I used a knife to separate them and of course slid the knife onto the little pad at the top of my middle finger. There's a slit there now on my finger and it's not bleeding but it is sore. Oh well. The room is cleared up now.

LOL done and hanging up. I made those 2 DPC. They were nothing to be concerned about. The letter from the big box store which sounded ominous, was nothing...they wanted our birth dates for their records! They made it sound like they were going to cancel our account. I called and changed one of DH's Dr. appointments. He had made it for a Friday, but that is my Bible Study day and I couldn't go with him then. We went over what's coming up on the calendar. He did not know what the dr. appointment was about... just the GP just routine. We looked at his list of Drs. He asked that I write on that list what each dr. is for. He does not keep track of any of this and doesn't seem able. I wrote next to the names: skin, heart, bone, ankle, GP. Now if he can just remember where I put the list on the bulletin board. I keep trying to keep him abreast of what's going on... but none of that really works.

Ok, let's see what else I can do ... I have no plans.

Nancy, doing paperwork, sorting, decluttering, filing, updating, desk days, any of that is stressful. I've come to the conclusion that it is exercise for our brain to be thinking and figuring stuff out and like any muscle that exercises it makes us tired!

Harmony: TG is very socially anxious (the new term for shy) and is not comfortable around large groups of people, even when she knows them and especially when she is the focus of the gathering. It has taken her a couple of years to get comfortable with just dh and I. Seeing how dgs adores us has certainly helped but she is also getting used to trusting us. We are pretty much a "say what we think" family and so we don't say one thing in public and another in private. Now she's learning to trust the praise we give her as genuine, something she has not a lot experience with and if something is bothering us, we'll talk to her about it. She also knows we like and admire her parents (who are completely different from dh and I but are solidly good people which is what we value over fancy education or big houses and fancy cars.) She felt inferior because of her background until she learned to trust that we don't judge people that way.

She wanted a very small wedding (this is her second). She is really wonderful and we are thrilled she is joining our family legally (we already consider her our Daughter-in-Love, a term I first saw coined here and feel is perfect.) We are OK with the small wedding but were honest we were unhappy because they didn't want to invite dd and I had to put my foot down and say that we will die some day and it will be best for ds and dd to have as few slights as possible between them in order to shut down our estate without upset and maintain family ties. My sister, in contrast, was always on the invite list. TG has been wonderful keeping my sister a part of their life. Again it was a trust issue and when my sister (without prior discussion) set up a university fund for both DC and dgs, she realized that my sister was fully including TG and DC into her life, not just ds and dgs with the others tolerated.

My zoom meeting is over and was a difficult as I thought it would be.

Now to have a big snack and then work up the nerve to step into the blast furnace that is the outside (currently feels like 106) and run my errands. Thankfully they will be in the car (and I'll take a cooler and ice packs with me.) Dh did the pickup from the library for me, that's one less errand I have to do.

Back home from gym and have accomplished all my hourly goals. I have two hours before picking DD12 up from school and going to the city for her appt with counselor. I'm going to slow my pace so I will be ready to be ON for the following 4 hours.

DS15 personal trainer sent him a long list of instructions. Because we aren't gym people the instructions are difficult for me to understand. It looks like gobbledygook to me, so I want to simplify and organize it to include pictures.

Afternoon ….

I spent the morning doing routines and getting ready for Sweeties video dr appointment tomorrow. Then I grabbed more coffee and reading for awhile

After Sweetie had his lunch we headed out to do the errands I had planned yesterday. They got put off cause Sweetie wanted to talk about the past and our growing up in the same neighborhood. Then we spent time listening to music. Both are good for his brain.

We’ve been spending time watching much of the US Open. Another thing I find is good for Sweetie. We spend a lot of time discussing what we are watching and it keeps him engaged.

I am trying hard to stay on point.

I have been listening to some young women/moms podcasts and I am finding myself being introspective on how life has changed for me but how things that I thought about when I was a young woman and mom is being thought of again today! How to be a good mom, what things can one do to raise confident resilient adults. How to be a good person, be humble, be a good family member-wife, mother, daughter, friend, a good earth citizen and home maker How to live a happy as well.
it's so interesting.

Part of me would want to do it all over again but using the knowledge I have now! I would miss my adult children if I went back in time and those mistakes I corrected (trying to be a better parent and a better wife and friend) probably would end up with me making new mistakes. New learning experiences.

The whole process of aging just blows my mind! it's so cool to me the growth I have had! The good/the really hard/the silly things I did/the worry over things that just needed time to pass by to get through it. it's fascinating to me.

I listen to these young mothers and I can see their wisdom that I couldn't have imagined having as a young adult. It's pretty amazing. I would love if we, young women, could all come into the world with knowledge passed down from generation to generation.

I will say all my mistakes, made me a much better person. I used to think my grandparents were brilliant but that my mother didn't understand the generation I was from. I was the new - I had scientist/child behaviorists etc to tell us how to raise our children. But looking back, the same things my great great grandparents went through when raising their children still affect the children of today. my mother is so smart - lol - I thought "I" was so smart at 16.

Each generation has something new it goes through. I can't imagine mothering in the computer/instagram/informational world that this generation is affected by. Things that I and my mother (the television and war) and my grandmother the radio and world war etc.etc. couldn't comprehend. I can't comprehend what my great grandmother went through. no electricity, fire stoves, no bathroom but a chamber pot, growing food during the war and having it stolen from them by soldiers, war, etc. The came through these things still being loving.

I just find the whole thing fascinating. I can still hear my grandmother and grandfather talking about how they thought the same things I am thinking about now. What a joy I am having being able to now understand the knowledge that my grandparents shared with me as such a young age.

Okay so much for my "deep" thoughts  .
You have to love the adventure.
sorry I need a corny moment!
How a couple young women's podcasts on homemaking and motherhood, could spark so much joy and thought.
it is always a joy to be here with you!

LadyM, you probably can google the name of the exercise and find a video to help understand it also.

I am worn out. That was a good workout, maybe a little more than I bargained for today. I didn't work out last week, did the week before, then didn't the week before that. I'm hoping I can stay well and in town for awhile now.

I have a little over 8K steps for today. I'll walk the dog again later this afternoon.

I'm going go head upstairs until she demands the walk.
