Had lunch or most of it.
I've gotten half of the herb-weeds out of the flower bed.
Earlier I worked on a revamped budget as that info. has changed over the summer it is a work in progress.
ddoggo is napping I closed up the house before it gets too hot. 95* is the forecast hi temp.
I got the jeans bagged up, wondering about one of those jean skirts.

Got the flower bed 3/4ths of the way cleared out.
Watered a bit more the birds were way happy about that.

Ok back to my series!

The hours are gliding past whether I pay attention to them or not.

Things that happened during the quickly passing hours. .....
** DD46 delivered takeout breakfast containers for everyone.
** DH and I went to the gym and accomplished our exercise minutes.
** DGS24 came and spent several hours chatting.
** I served lunch which was easy as pulling out the varied selection of ready-to-eat food.
** Made a big pot of salsa using an abundance of garden vegetables.
** Declutter then deep cleaned two different spots. I do love the feel-good hits I get each time I look at them.
** Took ownership of a 6 year old 55lb Border Collie & Poodle mix. This is a similar picture of Tomas the Bordoodle. Now we have three dogs inside. Micro (tea cup yorkie) stays with DH most of the time. Sam (Whippet) shares his time between DS15 and DD12. Both the kids were both instantly interested in adding Tomas when DGS24 offered. I am not 100% sure that DGS24 will be able to permanently turn loose of Tomas. He has been DGS24 emotional support dog for years. DGS24 stopped working from home and is now gone for long hours which leaves Tomas alone inside a small apartment. DGS24 is trying to do what is best for Tomas but I'm not sure he will be able to give him up. Time will tell.

I have been struggling with lack of motivation- I haven't been outside once today! I need to get off my Aunt Franny or maybe do my menu planning today so that I can work outside tomorrow.

I ordered a Christmas present for dh to give me - he loves that I do that bc it's way too much stress - The electric canner is 11% off today and I figure now is the time.
I have always wanted to can chicken stock etc. instead of freezing it. It might turn out to be a whim but at least I know I tried it.
My dd younger and my d niece want to learn and I think this might be something they would enjoy!

Only 1 other person showed up for knitting. That was okay, as we get along quite nicely and she is rather new to our group. Both of us have lived in the same city at some point in our lives and she feels comfortable with me. She has said that most of the other women, who have lived locally for a good part of their lives, tend to think of this area as theirs, and she said she feels unwelcome by some of them. So, we also have that in common. Whenever there is a crime of any type committed, the locals tend to pile on with comments like "it's all the new people from Toronto that are moving here and bringing the crime with them." I was born in Toronto, does that make me a criminal?

As for fend-for-myself supper, I had a tuna sandwich on white bread.

Today was a social (another S word) success.

The barnyard races were fun and I was a big winner since the toy sheep ended up winning the most races of the days (determined by rolls of dice.) I came home, 'up' $5.50 since I had invested in the sheep before the races began. On the individual races, I broke even. The 'sheep' was hilarious because in several races he (she?) only made it off the starting line by one or two squares so I'd give it a stern talking to and then it would win the next race. At one point I told it I wasn't the one that was supposed to be fleeced. It kept the group entertained.

Dinner was a delight. We didn't expect as many as we got so we had to keep adding chairs and tables. It gets dark early so we broke up at 7:20 (in August we sat out talking until 8.)

Last night at 11:40 I sent out an email to the 300 addresses on our list, including a request for the loan of a shower seat for the injured staff member. In under 6 hours I had the first of 5 offers (plus an offer of a toilet seat riser which will be great because of her badly bruised hip.)

And someone sent me a link to a tweet that highlighted our building's higher than automatic rent increase and the effect it has on her 89 year old dad on a fixed income. His rent will increase by $1000 per year. People complain and post about this increase all the time, but in this case, the person tweeting is a 'someone' and the tweet has been viewed 185,000 times so far and retweeted 300 times. It won't likely make a difference except to make those of us faced with the fight against the landlord feel a bit less alone.

So, it has been a wonderful day. I'll be off to bed soon. Tomorrow is another day which is starting with me making a loaf of sandwiches.

Survive and sleep— that’s been my day. I didn’t even go to the hospital! I did talk to dmom and she sounded like she was feeling better and in good spirits.

I asked dbil if he could take care of all the cousins because I’ve got so much to deal with taking care of dmom. Thank goodness he was very understanding and it turns out there are only the two brothers coming, neither of their wives.
DH explained that to the one who was planning on staying with us, and he was agreeable also.
We will still be going out for supper with them every night, but at least I don’t have to worry about everything else.

Dh, OTOH, is having a gout flare up and is in horrible pain.
He’s very disappointed we are not in College Town, but there is no was he would have made it to the game anyway. Hs really having a tough time.

Day's almost over. My S for the day... swim. We made it out to the little beach. We do not really swim, we just float around and enjoy the warm water and the sun and we really enjoy the scenery which is peaceful and quiet.

Back home, I offered a haircut for DH before he got into the shower and we did that, me standing there in my damp suit, wishing this was over sooner than not. Done! Then I put the towels and suits into the quick cycle wash and hung everything out. I think I mentioned last time we went and I washed the beach things, my suit wasn't there when I brought everything in. I'd never found it. So today I thought oh great! I forgot I lost my suit and have no backup. Checked one last place and look at that, it was folded up inside DH's trunks, which are similar color/pattern. So, me in my old suit, out the door to the beach.

We stopped at D airy Q ueen on the way back for cones and were very pleased to find they've put a drive in window on the back of the building, so we were able to get our treat without getting out of the car.

Dinner / dishes / and there went our day. And I can feel good that I did something for DH which made him happy and contented for a little while.

Twins, happy holiday. I don't know if that is a proper saying for your holiday, but you get my spirit of meaning.

Harriet, very happy for you that you found your unfinished quilt and I wish you luck and a good time doing that next one.

Ok, church in the morning. My friend texted that her grandson was coming and she would not be going in with me.
