I got the laundry started, and dh and I have stopped by the grocery store for tonight's supper -- he wants to eat early before the Braves play, and I have a meeting at church. He's having sandwiches from the deli, and I'm having Stouffer's lasagna.

DDIL is on the phone -- she got the new job, lower pay, but higher "rank" and 5 minutes from home instead of 30 minutes from home.
She's reading her resignation letter to me. It sounds really good. I do pray she will be happier with this position.
She also reports that she is cleaning ds' shower.
And that ds and the dgrands are supposed to clean the living room while she is at the meeting tonight with me. Hmmm...

Ooohhh, Cathy -- I think I know about those horns! I think I heard them at a hockey game once. One of our football teams around here uses cowbells. Ugh... they sound sooo awful.

Welcome back, Twins! I also wanted to tell you that your dd is on my mind, and the friends she made in Israel, and I am praying for this whole situation.

Well, LadyM -- hooray for dd46 helping out with the yucky task of pinning insects to boards. NOT a fun job at all. Here's hoping dd12 gets a good grade despite being three insects short! I am LOL at ds being "okay with that hole in his education."

Harmony, we are assuming the post office is closed. We didn't even stop by there. We don't get a paper on Monday anyway (they only do Tues-Sat now :( ) so we just went to the grocery store and home. Our garbage ran, but they very seldom change their routes for anything!

I need to dust.
I am trying aNOTHER new plan... Marilyn's Way. Y'all can check it out on FB. She kinda just simplifies Flylady.

Waving to EVERYONE else -- Rose, Nancy, Mystery (thanks for starting us out!)

Thinking of Harriet & dfamily today -- hope to hear from ds' surgery before the day is over.
Tomorrow is another day.

It doesn't seem like I have done much today but everything on my plans is done or in process. Homeschool & cooking are done. I'll pick DD12 up from school at 3:30 and head to the city for her 5pm appt with counselor. We might stop at WM for a few things on our way out of the city. I am hopeful to make it home before dark (7:38pm).

DS15 has taken quite a bit of my attention and energy the past 48 hours. He has a new girlfriend who lives in a different town. They met up with her grandparents keeping an eye on them. And then there is the continual vehicle situation. Too long of a story to tell all the details of the many conversations and interactions, but the short version is Ds15 is in the process of buying another vehicle. I am not in support of him getting the vehicle he is considering. I do give DS15 Atta-Boys for seeking the advice of his many mentors. The first 3 mentors he consulted thought it was a good idea. Then he asked his boss and me (separately) and we both thought the pickup he was considering was a horrible idea. I asked DS15 to take 24 hours and think about it which he agreed to do. DS15 consulted other of his mentors and continued to receive negative encouragement to do the deal. Bottom line is....21 hours into the deal DS15 changed his mind and is not going to get that vehicle. Sooooo...what is DS15 and DH doing at this very moment? Looking at a different vehicle to purchase. How many vehicles are in our driveway at this moment? I have no clue because I try to ignore the madness. If I had to guess without looking.... DS15 has 4 vehicles, DH has 2 and I have one. Calgon take me away.....

Harriet: my fitness watch is unreliable when it comes to its 'body battery' information. And when I don't recharge overnight, it is particularly unhelpful. There is no way to recharge in the daytime, its advice is to take it easy. Recharging only ever happens at night. If I take a nap in the recliner while dgs is napping, my battery continues to drain. If I lie in my bed, then it sometimes stops draining even if I'm doom scrolling.

The numbers are not defined either. For instance, I started the day gaining 25 overnight and am back down to 5 now. So what am I to do, nothing for the rest of the day? I still have laundry to fold and put away and a walk to go on. The other night I had my first day of gaining 0 overnight so starting the day at 5. For the record, it never goes below 5. But it goes to 5 almost every single day, whether I start at 50 or 20, whether I go for long walks or binge watch tv all day. I think normally go to bed with it at 5, in the past 4 weeks, that happened only once. The only difference in each day is how soon in the day I hit 5.

It claims it takes stress level, calculated by heart rate and respiration, into its calculation but I find I get really low recharging on the nights I sleep on my left side with my arm under me so I'm guess that position makes it impossible to get good readings. It also calculates my O2 through the night and, again, if my arm is not in the right position, it can't get a number and if that plays into the stress number, then that throws it off.

But I don't know for sure. I can never figure out what it thinks recharges me. At Hay Lake this last time, I started one day at 35 and the rest in the low 20s. I didn't get out of the low 20s until I was home again. If I have a good night, I seldom have a second good night even if I do the same things (Hay Lake was no sharing the bed with dh, no traffic noise, no hot bedroom, no reason to have to get up and get going in the morning, yet I never had a good night there.)

So the body battery appears useless. I can wake up dragged out and stressed out (like yesterday after a start at 56) and conversely have productive days at 5. So I don't pay attention to it because it was frustrating me.

As for its sleep calculations, it counts the time I'm doom scrolling in bed as 'light sleep' so that's pretty unreliable too. My 4 week average is 7:59 per night of sleep. I think that is way too high. For instance, I woke up 90 minutes before I got out of bed, dozing or listening to a podcast but it counted 1/2 of that time as REM sleep. It accurately shows when I fell asleep (11:45 after getting in bed around 11:30) but it doesn't show when I woke up accurately at all.

So it is hard to get any good data at all from it. Which is a shame because that was a big reason why I picked that watch.

Around here it is just a normal day. And normal Monday's are my house blessing day. Not quite finished but a lot was done and we are heading out for a walk now since dinner is in the oven.

(BTW: the walks don't make a difference in the body battery readings either. The only advantage is that when I'm tracking a physical activity with a timer, the system doesn't calculate stress so in theory that slows the dropping of the body battery.)

Sitting in waiting room at Dd12 counselor appt.

I'm pleased how we use our time in the city this evening. I decided to get desserts and crackers to take tomorrow luncheon. I intended ti make dessert but decided to reduce my workload and pick up apple pue and pumpkin cheese roll from bakery. Now my morning should go easier.

I have unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher, and it's currently doing it's job. I need to move the laundry to the dryer.

Leftover turkey, mashed turnip and cranberry plus real mashed potatoes make a darn good supper. Dh has told me he has had enough of the pumpkin pie, even though it's not finished. Neither of us liked it. I am having a slice and the rest is going in the garbage. Actually, the rest of this slice is going in the garbage as well.

I am trying to get some pots and pans washed as well.

Cathy: I'd take the uneaten pie back to Costco and say you weren't happy with it. It is possible it was a bad batch since you said it didn't taste rich enough.

I got the laundry all finished, walked for 30+ minutes at 3 mph and cleaned up the kitchen after dinner for dh.

Now to get to work on residents' stuff. Sigh.... But at least the apartment is slowly getting both cleaner and tidier. Tomorrow night I have a real meeting, in person, unless there's a change to zoom at the last minute.

This morning I had to be up early and leave for my long day into big city with dd25. She found a wonderful desk alcove in a waiting area and was able to work on her laptop while I had my appt, made longer because of extra things like bloodwork. In hallway afterward, we sat privately to take ds' call with news (more in J and C). Then we took the time for a leisurely lunch at Pan era's.

Then off to the frantic flurry at the airport. Heading back home, there are no landmarks, nothing remotely resembling the past there. So, I was completely dependent upon my phone's app for travel, and I truly hate that. It gave so much successive instruction at one time, and that makes it hard for me to remember what I'm supposed to do next. Anyway, I managed.

Back home after getting in touch with everyone who needed info, I fell into bed and slept 3.5 hours. My sleep last night was not good and it was clipped short, too.

(Kathryn, a lot of what you said would mirror complaints I have about watch and understanding sleep, battery.)

Was able to get back into "my own" stride, I guess, after that, by having my regular smoothie recipe and chilling out. Then the evening phone calls, texts, etc. started. I think everyone is on the same page about tomorrow now.

Mystery, I'd be so interested to hear how nutritionist is helping.

Cathy, that sounds like a comfortingly traditional Thanksgiving meal and next meal.
