Calling it a soup would be an insult to soup. Boiled meat, boiled onions, boiled potatoes and boiled carrots. All in the same pot. No salt, no pepper, no bay leaves...

I know I shouldn't be insulting the way he cooks.

Thankfully we just had a discussion regarding tonight's supper, which will be pork chops in mushroom gravy with mashed potatoes. Veg unknown at this time.

hello again - dogs, I think, took one of my good shoes - I only have 1 pair of nice shoes.
The other are garden shoes - mmmmm oh well - I should expand my shoes. :D

mom is talking about staying here permanently - She said she realizes she is getting older but mom makes rush decisions that she regrets later. My thought is that she stay until thanksgiving and see if that fits for her. dd younger will have to go back bc of work. dd younger has done her part for a mom for a long time and I want her to have independence- I have wanted her to move out on her own for a long time - I didn't tell her that but she is ready now. (mom thinks dd younger and her dog will stay here but dd is going back to Florida= she loves her friends and her work and she loves Florida).

keeping an open mind!

Actually, mom should live at dh's and my house, but I know she would not be happy. She doesn't like being alone at her apartment here. It's all up to my brother.

hello and see you soon. Can't find my other good shoe - this will be interesting!

Cathy, there are times I have dh make up a 'better the next night' meal at the same time as tonight's meal so that the following night it is just a matter of reheating.

BTW: I had made a ground beef skillet meal and thought it too heavy. I had the leftovers the following night and found it was much better the second night. So I haven't removed that from my online recipe list just yet. It is worth a second try.

My day so far has been OK.

One of the things that didn't happen yesterday is my computer didn't get repaired. First thing the part arrived, a couple of hours later the technician called to say he was 20 minutes away, could he come? I said yes and he did but he was able to get the computer to make sound not through Windows, so he didn't think it was the speakers. He did put the new ones in, and had no luck getting sound through them. We agreed it had to be software. He tried a few things (including downloading updates and reboots) without any luck. I deleted stuff at random then uninstalled all sound controller drivers and ended up with NO sound (before I had it through the earphones and an external speaker.

This morning I did some more updates and reboots and presto-magico, it is working again. No real idea what I did except to break the computer and have Windows repair itself. I don't recommend this normally but figured I had little to lose and worst come to worst, I could follow his suggesting of wiping and reinstalling Windows.

So fixed computer. Wrote a long email. Completed the signs for Sunday's meeting. Did some kitchen deep cleaning including emptying the mostly empty fridge and cleaning it out on the inside. Made up a grocery list. Got my hair cut. Got groceries picked up. So, not a bad day so far.

The building across the street in our complex has no heat and limited hot water today. The tenants are in revolt so I spent time holding hands on that as well. One tenant finally called in bylaw (we have laws that require minimum heat at this time of year) and apparently everywhere they went in the building people were complaining that apartments were too cold.

Now it is time for me to go put up the signs and deliver some groceries across the way. I'll get to experience for myself how cold it is.

Dh agreed to have the stew tomorrow night.

Right now I have the pork chops simmering in the gravy. (Cream of mushroom soup, sorry Kathryn)
There is a butternut squash baking in the oven with olive oil and pepper on it. Now to make a quick decision regarding the potatoes.

I recently mailed a large cheque to dh's cousin from their uncle's estate. Her response was a text. "TY". Personally I would have thought a cheque for 30K would have gotten a better response. (Shrugs)

Ddog has been something of a pain the last couple of hours. She came up and fussed at me so I went downstairs for awhile and had lunch and sat outside for awhile. Came back upstairs and left her out - when I heard her bark, I went down, got her and we walked a lap. Hopefully I can have some more uninterrupted time. In roughly 45 min I should cut up the butternut squash (this is 1/2 of one that was left last week) and get it ready for oven at perhaps 5:45ish. Should put chicken in marinade the same time. Should be easy to get broccolini ready to roast and chicken on the grill.

Dh is going to a friend's house for a drink and should be home 6:30ish. Friend has first grandbaby, he's back home to do some work and dwife stayed with their dd.

I've been digging out and checking twice details of a lengthy detailed footnote. My eyes are practically hurting because I've been going image by image of a lengthy digitized record for 1809-1817.

Chicken is done and cooling.
Talked with dd a long time today.
Hope it was productive for both of us as time goes on.
Glad we walked when we did.
I did a chapter in my Prayer work book notes.
I need to sort the meat from the broth I cooked up soon as it's cool.
Got the chicken deboned & separated from the broth and both ae cooling now.
Glad for that. Just remembered I have gravy packets I think yum!

Hi! Healing, yes, lots of us need a bit of that, don't we?

My rash is lightening up and the red dots are fewer. It is still mighty sore and uncomfortable. Today I gave up and put a different salve on that is high steroid which I'm not supposed to put some places on my body. It has the effect of thinning the skin. I'm forbidden to put it on my face or gr__n area so I figured maybe this is a taboo spot also, but I was desperate. I'll try not to do it very often. If this heals it, that means it is the same eczema that I get on my hands all the time. Looks a bit different which is why I thought it was something else, and perhaps it was both and I got the one part of it healed. Eczema can get infected with either bacteria or yeast and I tried stuff for both which never seemed to help. Hydrocortisone was supposed to cure the itch which it did very poorly.

I looked around for another dermatologist online... man, most of them are part of a big conglomeration of drs. with call centers that are the pits to deal with. And they always load up the doctors as tightly as they can and leave very little times for urgent appointments. Anyway, I did think about swapping with DH but he is on a time schedule too.

Speaking of him, we went up to the dentist for his last appointment...just to find out last week the gal who did the cleaning found a spot way up on top of a crown (not one of his new ones) that shows decay. Dentist says with the metal over it the xray can't pick it up but the hygienist found it. I had a hard time wrapping my head around all this. We asked if he could just fix the spot rather than popping off the crown and doing a whole new one after fixing the tooth...and he said yes but he couldn't tell how deep it went so it might or might not be sufficient. DH wants to try this first. I hope it works...means another visit up there. Now I don't know how we'll fit it all in with knee surgery.

It's looking more and more like we might not have much of a holiday this year. Have you all been thinking about the holidays? Getting started with that yet?

DGS called and used up a good bit of time this afternoon I could have used for other stuff. But I try to make a priority for any family who wants to acknowledge that we exist down here!

Had baked chicken breast meat which I cut up and heated in some gravy I made, put that over noodles and I'd steamed a cauliflower in my veggie steamer. Somehow I had a bunch of big dishes and stuff to hand wash tonight, but I got it done.

B-D B-D B-D That's all folks!

Late check in because I had to take a nap when we got home.
Dh had a perfect check up, no med changes, no return for six months!
Afterwards we took the longer but less-traffic route home and ate at a pizza place in nearby town, highly recommended by ds/ddil, and dbil and his gf. It WAS definitely as good as they said.
All in all, we’ve had a practically perfect day.

Dgs called to happily announce that he had asked if he could be a referee for the student/faculty basketball game Friday, and not only did they say yes, but they are giving him a real referee shirt and whistle! LOL..,
Dgd enjoyed her field trip today and tomorrow I will be meeting her at the book fair.

Sending lots of good wishes to all of you, especially to Harriet’s ds’ Household.
