SHEs Organized

Thankfully I went to get dressed early-ish yesterday. Ds called, dgs3 was hating the bike ride so he had dh pick him up about 1/3 of the way along. Dh reports that dgs was still really upset by the time he got there and crying. He settled by the time they arrived at my place. Dh dropped dgs off before immediately heading off on his activity of the day. When I asked, "is ds here too?" DH grimly said, "yes but Beavy and Blanky are still at home." Given that, when I go anywhere in the car dgs checks to make sure we have Beavy (and Blanky) and goes off to sleep beautifully as long as he has his loveys, this was a big deal.

Ds was feeling really badly and had time to bike over to the hospital (as planned but early) and then drive home and back with B&B and just have time to pick up ddil as she came off shift. I suggested we wait and see how nap time went.

Daddy put him down for nappy, with me subbing a soft puppy puppet that dgs loves and a blanket that looks like his but doesn't feel at all the same. Daddy has a special way of tucking him in and then we waited. There was a plaintive cry for Beavy and we explained he was at home and to go to sleep. After the milk was finished we heard a few whimpers and then nothing. He slept for 3 hours, as ds said, he must have been exhausted from hating the bike ride!)

Then it was time to go to the beach for 4 hours and do bubbles. I grabbed some sand toys as well and he was really good until some of the other kids went to swim (they had suits) and the toddlers all rebelled and started to strip (one even took off her diaper) and go into the water. Thankfully, I had a change of clothes for him, towels, and his leash because neither dh, nor I, had clothes on that could be adapted to going into the water! So he walked up and down with the waves lapping at his legs and played with branches that had floated in.

The bubbles were a success but so were the sand toys so we'll add that to our next beach party. Not only that, because of the sand toys there were a steady stream of little ones to play with dgs.

We got him into bath at 7:45 and bed at 8:30 and he slept until 7 this morning. So 13.5 hours sleep over the 24 hours, all without Beavy and Blanky.

Today I was exhausted so we went down to the patio and blew bubbles for a bit, played on the balcony with the spray water bottle, and he ate a HUGE lunch (after almost 24 hours of nothing). I kept him up watching TV since he was leaving at 1:30. I assume he napped in the car on the way home.

After that I reset the apartment, did a load of laundry to record the noise of the spin cycle (the repair person comes on Tuesday) and napped. Dinner was out for pizza and I've done puttering around this evening. I have writing to do which I will start now.

For the first time since getting back on Monday, I have my computer set up again. My roll top desk is closed when dgs is here and the laptop kept out of reach on the top of it. He's been here so much, I've just left things shut down.

Tomorrow is a lot of catching up, plus barn yard races and then a BBQ in the afternoon/evening. I have to get to Costco in order to get food and hate to go on a Saturday but the week has been crazy.

And so sorry the raccoon (or whatever it was!) messed up your plants, Harriet! Also glad to hear HRH had good doctor’s visit!

Nancy, I am definitely wary of door-to-door salespeople. I did open the door to a young man selling pest control services. Should not have done that! But I told him I had all that taken care of, and sent him on his way. Fortunately, he wasn’t a serial killer.

Twins, the heat IS exhausting. I admire you for keeping up your workouts and the steps you get in! Hang in there!

LadyM, I think you’ve certainly earned the right to retire from VBS, but I can see how those sweet children are blessed by you! Like you said, you have a year to make a decision. Just see how you feel at the beginning of next summer.

Thanks for reassurance about leaving uncle at home, Rose! I really was glad by the time we left. Too many decisions for ONE stone. I would have hated having to help duncle make choices for aunt’s.

Thanks for prayers, everyone. I did get the stone ordered.
It’s a 5’ stone on a 6.5’ base. 26” tall, above the base.
It will have a hole in the top with a drain, to serve as a base. Lady assured me this would not compromise the strength of the stone, and they do guarantee and will repair/replace any damages caused by natural causes.
It costs approximately $2100.
It will have engraved dogwood blossoms in the top corners, double wedding rings with a ribbon with our wedding date in the center, and our information in plain double line boxes.
It is very similar to dinlaws’ stone which sits next to it, but theirs is on a 7’ base and is 28” high. DS says this is not a problem; no one is going to notice it as being smaller and looking skimpier. It’s 3” on each side of the base and 2” in height. I hope it looks nice.
I wanted to be not a carbon copy of theirs, but something similar. DS and I agreed that there is a fine line between unique and just too much.
They will send me proofs so I can change anything I want to.

Dgd is here. We played lots of games of Uno, and we went to watch the local fireworks display .
The last few weeks, she has been very upset about DS being gone on the weekends. This kinda starts when bedtime is close, but sometimes earlier. She’s afraid “he might get in trouble — he might have a car crash.” She said it doesn’t have anything to do with granddaddy, but I can’t help but wonder. It kinda makes me nervous that SHE is so worried about him.
But I talked to her about how DS is following God’s will for him; God have him talent and he is using it by singing mostly gospel music.
I also told her to picture God’s hands — His hands are big enough to hold her daddy and all of us when Daddy is traveling, no matter where He is.
I told her I sometimes got homesick when I spent the night with my grandparents, and I even offered to take her home if she wanted me to, but she said no; she will see ds before he leaves tomorrow.
