Movie was nice, and really required very little of me. After the movie, we went to a nearby park to eat sack lunches and let the kids play for a little while. Then, the preacher asked if dgd wanted to come home with her and her grandson, who dgd had a playdate with yesterday, and of course she wanted to -- so I called ds, cleared that, and dgd rode home with them. DGS and I went back to Belk, returned a duplicate package I had received, and came back to my house. He didn't want to go home yet -- I told him I was fine with him coming to my house if he wanted to watch me nap, but that was my plan. I had only gotten about 4 hours' sleep before getting up this morning.
About 5:00, ds called and wanted to know if I wanted to eat with them tonight again, so I did that... and now I'm home.
I drove the truck around the loop that our road is on before I came inside. I try to drive it once a week.
Came in... and filled out summons for jury duty. They want me to serve "on call" in district court in September. This is 52 miles away. (They pay for hotel if you're over 50 miles away, so there's that...) As y'all might imagine, this is one of those things that brings on a panic attack with me. I have never served on jury duty. The last time I was asked to serve, I told them I was the only "caretaker" for my husband AND my mother. This time, I only have dmom depending on me... but what if she does decide to schedule the bunion surgery... besides just the normal doctor appointments that she depends on me for... AND... I have a severe fear that I might fall asleep while sitting in the jury box! I mean, it is hard for me to stay awake in church... and that's just one hour. Especially the way my sleep cycle is right now, I just do not feel capable of being able to manage this, emotionally OR physically. Not to mention my stomach situation!
Maybe I should have put all that in the request, but I figured it was best to keep it short and sweet. Sigh.
I will pray about it and try to trust that if the Lord insists I show up, He will get me through it.
We are getting a lot of rain now also. Luckily, it was clear during our time at the park, but it has been raining when I woke up the past two mornings.
Kathryn -- (((HUGS))) for your dgs AND ddil! That's a hard milestone... I still remember it well. I hope everything goes great with dgs at the cottage! It IS a chore to pack and unpack for two places. I run into that during football season. We might not spend as many nights this year though. On weekends that ds is able to go with us, he will prefer to make it a one-day trip, so he can see the local high school game on Friday nights. I just don't know how this is going to work out this year. I am not going to shed any tears if we miss a game or two, also. If they have an 11:00 a.m. game, I may just skip that. (Even when we spend Friday night, it is tough to get myself and 2 kids ready to leave the condo by 9:00/9:30, which we would want to do to beat the crowd going in.) Big sigh. This will be a hard season.
before I made the decision to never have foot pain again. I know what shoes don't hurt my feet so that is all I will wear now.
LadyM, IKWYM!!! I do NOT wear the latest fashions in footwear. I wear N*w B*llance sneakers 6 out of 7 days, and my "Sunday shoes" are either Y*llow B*x sandals or closed toe, low heeled shoes. Comfort is WAAAY ahead of stylish for me these days.
Speaking of football games -- I cannot BELIEVE the heels some college girls and even older women my age wear to games. I wouldn't be able to get to the stadium in them, much less last the whole game. (Of course, it is not unusual to see those college girls walking out barefoot, swinging their shoes in their hands.)
Waving to ALL... hope y'all have a good evening.
