Friday Focus to Finish PWYC

DH went with me to the parade. It was only 78F so it felt cool, but I was on guard to keep him from getting hot. We sat on one of the DD benches that line main street so DH was in the shade. I don't know what a safe temperature is for DH and I really don't want to experiment to find out. I know he is fine at 78F inside the house so I am tentatively declaring anything over 80F to be in his danger zone.

After the parade we went to dollar store to get more containers. I bought one the other day to test if it was the correct size and it worked perfectly. I am using them to organize kitchen cabinets.

We stopped by the community center for the silent auction (fundraiser) and bid on several items. I didn't see anything that I needed but I do want to support their effort. I'll go back tomorrow to find out if anyone overbids me.

We did our typical Friday stop at a local BBQ place. I bought their largest platter with an assortment of meats to take tomorrow to our family reunion. I also got our regular weekly order minus what DD13 usually eats.

I have been tweaking a PaperBrain page to use in September. I am not sure what it will eventually look like but so far I am pleased with it.

Working on my new prompts project is fun and am to the last 1/3 of getting those in three
comp. note books with plenty of blank pages between.
Dd called this morning.

Ready to resume the 3rd & last one of those this afternoon.
Yea! Got those prompts in the note books so glad to have that done.
Talked with dson today.
Did some spinning today first this week had other things happening.

Tonight's supper will be rigatoni and meatballs in sauce with red peppers and onions that were sauteed tin olive oil with black pepper and Italian seasonings.

I am getting excited about the new month. I have been thinking through and deciding on September goals. I am doing 95% the same that I did in August, but I switched the way I track them, so they feel new to me. I like having that excitement and eagerness to challenge myself.

Tomorrow is going to be interesting. We will have a contractor working here tearing out and replacing the bathtub and shower. He estimated it would take him 2 days for this job. We live in a 60 year old home so it is expected for something to not go as planned.
We will also be attending an extended family reunion of my paternal side. Many of those extended family members are traveling long distances to attend. I know some are coming from the Washington DC area and others from Texas. We haven't had a reunion of this group in years. At our last reunion we had several of the older generation alive but now there is just one uncle from that older generation left. I am looking forward to the reunion but also dreading it because I know when a large group gets together there will be no way to talk one-on-one with everyone. Just taking pictures of everyone will be a challenge. We have rented a sports field plus community center where we are having a potluck meal so there will be the tasks to get it set up, served and cleaned up. I know from experience that sometimes the best conversations can happen while washing dishes and teaming up to get things done. Hopefully that will be true tomorrow so I can visit while being productive.
I need to sit down and list how many cousins I have on my paternal side. Just mentally thinking about it I can name 17 cousins. Then there are their spouses, children and grandchildren. It quickly gets numerous. There are 54 adults in our private FB group for that side of my family.
Who is the crazy person who scheduled the bathroom renovation the same time a reunion is happening?

LadyM, this is why it's so wonderful to be able to trust those who have knowledge and experience in their work. Hurray for professionalism! (Also, this is why we keep a cell phone with us when we're away and make sure the workmen know how to call! )

I keep a mental running tally of my first cousins and remind myself of those who move, or, sadly, those who are no longer with us. I am youngest of 12 on my paternal side, sadly now without 4 of us, and second-youngest of 7 on my maternal side, sadly now without 2 of those.

Our supper - General Tso's Not Chicken and rice. Extra honey in the Tso's sauce. (Tso sauce?) That's because dr said I get extra honey. (smile) I've been having Green Tea with honey once a day.

We had homemade chicken "shake & bake" for dinner tonight. It was only when dh was turning it that I realized I had had him make it for us on Wednesday as I was driving home from the cottage. Since that was at the apartment and this was at the cottage, my brain had realized it was the same meal just 2 nights apart! It was good and this time we added corn on the cob.

The drive up was relatively smooth. The car always does something(s) unexpected and this time it was unable to calculate our arrival time and state-of-charge. It wasn't a big deal, all the turns were correct in the NAV, just no arrival time and since we had two stops on the way up, the time would have been off. After the first stop, the system worked properly so it was just another example of how our tesla is not a car but a computer that functions as a car since "turning it off and on again" solved the software glitch.

I settled in here pretty fast since I'd been away only 48 hours. Got the food put away, unpacked everything else, unloaded the dishwasher, finished reading a magazine (plus I finished another on the way up), and alternated working on setting up my bullet journal for next year with taking 5 minute walks every 25 minutes. Weirdly, this is really helping keep me on task although it takes a while each day to tear myself away from the computer or whatever else I am doing.

I even managed to handle email before dinner and now have an important meeting on Tuesday night (via Zoom.)

I messed up the freezer inventory so we don't have a pork tenderloin on hand for dinner on Sunday night. I do have a large pork chop but the stir fry we do with that requires veggies I don't have on hand. Tonight was the last decent meal we'll be having while here. Yes there is a store near(ish) to here but with the holiday weekend they will be out of everything by tomorrow night. All stores are closed Monday for Labour Day and the local store doesn't get another delivery until Tuesday at the earliest, so we'll just hunker down and have Pizza, burgers, grilled cheese and bacon sandwiches, and then hotdogs unless I come up with something brilliant to do with the 300g of pork chop I have. Hmmm, I could make schnitzel with it......

I’ve been out of pocket and I will be again tomorrow, so I just wanted to pop in and tell y’all the good news —
I got a letter today and JURY DUTY IS CANCELED!!! Settled out of court or something. This is truly an answer to prayer. I really was able to turn it over to God and say “whatever, if You bring me to it, You’ll get me through it” and — whew — He did!
This should be a strong lesson for me for future situations.

Tomorrow I am going to a funeral, 93 year old lady who has been sick a long while. Her son, who is now deceased, was my senior prom date. I taught his children in school and have known this family my whole life.
After that, I am taking dgrands to a small museum in the town where my dad grew up. They have on display some models of local attractions made with a 3D printer, and I think dgs would like to see these, since he has used a 3D printer in school. I’m kinda fascinated with them myself, having seen pictures on fb.
