A beginning of a New Year - May it be a blessing 2024

New year a great time for a new gate or old gate install in a new or diff. place.
The gate guys have come and gone & will come install it in the morning.
I hope they will take one tree root I dug out and cannot lift kept it to burn in the fire pit
but decided against that. It is a two person one. I rocked it side to side and used a hand truck to
got it in there! They are interested in the coop & run so I need to remember to give them a tour.
Cooked myself a hb patty on a bun for dinner.
Finished vacuuming upstairs yea!

I made the inside of the spanakopitas - it took longer than I thought. - it's in a bowl in the fridge.
dh said there is a bunch of stuff at the front door - actually I saw it and it was only two boxes. The groceries came and he proceeded to tell me that there is so much there and that the guy couldn't put groceries there. he tends to exaggerate if he gets frustrated to make a point.

I had thought about making roasted beets - I will see - I still have to pick it and wash them well.

I do have a bit of a headache. I could sleep but I won't

dishes are now washing themselves (I already put away the morning dishes).

1. put together some fruit for mom - I will let her cut them as she will if they are in her fridge.
2. put away groceries
3. open the boxes in front
4. take boxes an put on garden

I have been looking to can some onion soup.
I should have frozen fresh blueberries when they were in - now the organic is $8.59 a small container and regular is $5

Having an extremely low-energy day. Have not gone back into the fever today, though. True to its word, Robi tussin does give 4 hours through the night without coughing. Not 3 hours 59 minutes. Not 4 hours 1 minute. lol

HRH made sloppy joes. We had coleslaw brought by ddil, so that went well together, but I just had a half-sandwich. I am having almost all
half-meals. Dr. is working me in tomorrow.

Honestly, I can report that we are not seeing shortages here. We had a moment of some surprise at one store because regular loaf bread was out, but there were a dozen other kinds of bread and buns stocked. It did occur to me that maybe someone tried to quickly gather sandwich fixin's to take into hard-hit areas and just did it all at one store to save time. Also individual bottled drinking water is low, which probably does have to do with getting it to those areas.

Dd and dsonil were still without electricity, but crews were getting close to them. Hoping they get home today and have it.

I'm glad ds' Chief pressed him to take time off and he is getting in some fishing at the coast now. They try not to let anyone burn out, plus ds was already recuperating from the effects of the fires previously. He'll dive back in to a flurry of activity Monday morning, I'm sure.

Feeling lots of ways (smile) about an encounter dd44 had yesterday at her dr's office for her annual check up. She ran into an old friend, my age, from my church of membership, where dd herself attended during high school, college, before leaving to get her Masters. Friend is a good, well-rounded woman with a brain. I've taught 3 different generations of her family in SS, various studies. She wanted to impress upon dd a lot of info she hoped dd would take to me/my family. Lots to digest about the state of the church, some epiphanies that have been had.

The afternoon has proceeded without major problems.
** 87% of daily to-do's are accomplished.
** DS16 homeschool accomplished.
** DD13 picked up from school and took for a treat. Getting A's and not getting into trouble should be acknowledged IMHO.
** DS16 and two friends went to watch the girlfriend volleyball game. The school they are playing is 86 miles away so they are driving 172 miles to watch a one hour game. It has already been more excitement than needed. DS16 just called to let me know that he got pulled over for driving 10 MPH over the speed limit. The highway patrol gave him a verbal and written warning.
DS16 got his drivers license less than 2 months ago and this is the 2nd time he has been pulled over.
***sigh*** Raising teenagers require nerves of steel....and lots of praying.
