Finished my work outside with help from Sweetie. Thankfully it’s a bit cooler outside.
Am eating my lunch and then afterwards need to go to the grocery store. My power was off for a little under 48 hours. Before I left I filled 4 gallon zip lock bags with water and froze them in my freezer. I was told it would hold my food for over 48 hours IF I didn’t open the doors. Was t sure I believed it but was willing to try.
I came home expecting water from the ice cubs and my ice pack would have thawed out and my kitchen floor would be filled with water. Imagine when I came home everything was still good. The food in my refrigerator was still fresh. I tasted all my milk products..milk, cream, cottage cheese and sour cream were fine. The ice in my ice machine had not melted and we’re as good as when I left it.
I googled how to tell if food in the fridge had gone bad … I had already smelled and tasted every thing. I am quite amazed. I packed my freezer so there was little air space because that was what was recommended. We have eaten food from the fridge without any problems. The first thing I did was make a cup of coffee and put my cream in tis to see if it would curdled. No. Did the same with my milk. Same results.
I was a skeptical at first, but pleased with the results
Waving y’all enjoy your day

d Kathryn I totally understand how 3 hours takes up the day along with all the prepping and put away, shopping, cooking, outdoor and indoor care etc. it's a lot of work but I am sure so so much fun. it must be wonderful to be able to come back to the cottage and have it nice to visit again!!!
I love Norwegian sweaters!!! you have done so much already!!! good for you!
My mom's house, up north - door county was 5 hours, plus some, away. My sis in law has a cottage 2 hours away and that's not too bad if they go early in the morning. We used to count the days driving there and driving back as a wash!
Hello d rose yay on your work and also yay on it being cooler. sorry your power went out.
glad the freezer was ok
hello d Nancy
waving to you and everyone
back to the *list*

I didn't tear myself away from my computer until 3:30ish, when I walked the ddog, then went out to finally run a few errands. Returns got pushed to another day but I hit two CVS stores, the post office, and grocery. Needed ground beef for chili tonight,, which I need to get started.
Anyway, I've had a good day researching a bit.

I had a interesting afternoon. Dd had her motor
cycle quit not far out of town and she had stopped at a park in the next town 3 mil. from me so I got her and took her home.
Got a shirt for Dgd and went to the school and gave her a ride to my house.
Dd had to wait on the fridge people to bring one and needed to be there.
I took Dgd to the game and dropped her off.
Her mom's guy had friends rescue her bike and delivered her car to her.
So it all worked out well.
I got 10K steps in too.
Just watered out front it's been dry here.
Yes the soups were great!
Sinks are clean.
My minutes were full today productive and helpful it was a good day.
Drive by the river was lovely today and seeing fall color on my walks is beginning here.

I went for another quick walk and then checked for dead mice in the crawl space (none!), and was drawn by the sunshine to go sit on the stairs from the deck to the dock. It was lovely and warm there. I took a few pictures which I'll post over in MO. Rain came in so I went inside. There was heavier rain later. We were told to expect flurries today and didn't get any because it is too warm but there's a sort of cloud that looks like it has snow in it and those were around today.
I'll be later to bed than I wanted but still before midnight so that's a good thing.
