I was up around 8:45, surprising because I was up until past 11 last night. We were home before ten but I needed some reading time alone. We had a lovely time. We were at very longtime dfriends house - we were close friends before our dkids came along when their kids were growing up. I told her it made me happy to see so many items from their house on the mountain in this house they've been in for nearly twenty years. They have so many beautiful things but it does feel cluttered to me - too much but interesting take in all the details. But too much!

Today there's nothing on my schedule. Dh may go to a Jewish federation event late this afternoon and he bowls tonight.

November 4 begins the "week one" this year.

I had a post all finished yesterday on my phone, hit something wrong and lost the whole thing. Don't know if I can recreate but I'll see.

Was catching up on posts while hanging out with my dgdC in her kitchen, where she was showing me that she can make pancakes all by herself now. She makes a sort of "silver dollar pancake" if you remember that size from IHOP and other pancake restaurants - about 3-inch. For the last two, she sprinkles small chocolate chips and that's her dessert for the meal, lol.

Ds had invited us over to see his new Golf Simulator that he has in the garage. A huge net plus a screen to show you "where" you are on your chosen golf course. With your own clubs and balls, you make the shots you would make in that situation, the machine "sees" the ball and shows on the screen where it would have gone. HRH had an absolutely marvelous time, was sweaty and predicting sore muscles when we left, so it was quite a workout.

Dd26 brought us brunch today along with picking up a prescription for her Dad, which was a nice help.

The Halloween quilt was hung with her help, so I'll call it the Autumn quilt after that and keep it up a while. We remembered we used to drape a large doily that my flower gardening aunt had made over the top to soften the look. It certainly does. (and it certainly needs it - smile)

She took some items home with her, but very little from inside the house. Most from the storage building so it doesn't feel as though anything changed in here.

While she was here, HRH's brother came by and in fact is still here visiting with him outside. Good that he was able to see dd and chat.

Made it to church in person today.
Walked ddoggo when I got home.
I need a lunch plan but am not really hungry.

Some one asked me to text them to go to their place
when I am free for lunch. I do not want to b/c I got lost both times I"ve been there,
Not sure how to dis - invite myself or just not respond I guess.

I had a heavy duty journaling session just before church and it took a bit to shake it off.
On my way home I do a loop to get the engine time to warm up a bit and ambulance was come so
I pulled over, saw smoke in the distance too.

We got some rain today here, but it's 50 ish out so I had to shed some layers when I got home.
They guy down the way said his boss bought him the new truck he's driving.

Is any one else leary about dining out bc of all the food recalls?

Nancy…not worried abt fast foods because we hardly eat any.

Back from running my errands. I have a new favorite high protein dinner that I’ve been making and made one for Sweetie the other night and he loved it. I brown hamburger meat … some times I season it with taco mix and sometimes I just keep it plain. I cook several pounds of hamburgers and store what I didn’t t use right away in the refrigerator. I take ice berg lettuce and slice it thin to put in a bowl. Then for me I add 1/2 cottage cheese, one half cup hamburger and put it on top of the lettuce. I top it off with graded cheese, Salas sauce and a dab of sour cream. Yumm .. it taste like a taco without the bread.

Tonight I’m going to make a Big Mac bowl… same base to which I’m going to add onions, pickles Thousand Island dressing. I also have an individual pack of ranch protein chips. They are great, but I usually eat just half a bag. Sweetie likes them as well but I make his bigger.

I just finished my protein shake so when I make my bowl, will only use a 1/3 of meat and cottage cheese since I do t think I’ll be too hungry :

mom helped with the bird seed
it was adorable - she would forget, go inside and started sweeping, and I would mention the bird feeder - and she started filling the feeders again- she is a hard worker!

dd older made us pumpkin breakfast cookies

dd younger left her dog here and took Gracie (one of our dogs) to swim in the creek and go for a long woodland walk. Gracie was so so happy!

I am planning to do some appliquéing hopefully. done
dishes are on
time to take mom home - she had her meds.

hoping that I can clean the fridge tomorrow as a beginning of prepping for the holidays

blessed, your dd's pumpkin* cookies sound so nice. Appliqueing? "Do tell" in A, C and N thread. I want to post there, too, but so much is always in the way of getting creative things done.

Dove says she wants to "indulge" (great word) in some crafting and sewing, too.

Ramblin', your Bowls ideas are so interesting - I really like that taco concept.

Dd44 and 2 of the grandboys were over this afternoon. Dd brought me, unwrapped, a present she was considering keeping for me until Christmas but changed her mind. It's this year's full year (4 issues) of the Forks Over Knives magazine. I would not buy these for myself - a luxury, really. I have found a couple recipes to make so far, but many require finding a lot of ingredients. There's a pear and pumpkin* cake recipe that looks and sounds delicious - an upside-down cake with the pears nicely arranged. It would be for a special occasion.

She had also brought me local honey the last time she was here. I think she just can't bear for me to give her a gift (the book) without giving back to me twice as much, lol. Am I going to have to stop giving her things? lol

Trick or Treat thoughts - Happy to hear her two youngest boys want to have costumes this year - hurray!
I need to post in our holiday thread about my costume that I am cobble-ing together - I hid it from them!

Well, I am on the laptop (Chromebook) and the grands have unplugged the external mouse, as usual. I do NOT know why they have such an aversion to that mouse. I can barely function without it.

I have had both dgrands since about 6:00 pm yesterday. Other dgrandmother realized, with ddil's input, that she probably should go to the ER with what she thought was a sprained ankle. Nope, she has broken something in her foot.
It has been no problem for the most part, for me -- other dgrandparents dropped off dgd in town where DGS and I were helping with church booth for "Scare on the Sqaure." Lots of trunk or treat booths, etc, and our church was giving out water bottles with labels with our church name on them. I did not plan to stay after the thing started, DGS has apparently outgrown trick or treating, and I dreaded the crowds. Probably several thousand people. They were still lined up over a block away from the town Square when the thing was supposed to be over. However, since we had been there over an hour, we sorta cut line and merged in with the beginning people, and dgd had a great time.

Church today, ate out for lunch, nap, dominos, Subway for supper, and by a little after 9:00 pm, they were both showered and in bed.

HOWEVER -- I am in crisis mode again, so y'all say a prayer for me in the morning. I was all set to get my act together (yes, AGAIN) and then I got a message from Dcousin.
Our childless and widowed Duncle has fallen and hurt his hip -- we don't know how bad. Doctor is concerned about his trouble focusing his eyes when he tries to look to the side. He is spending the night in the hospital, and will get an MRI tomorrow.
Dcousin -- my only girl cousin -- has stayed at the hospital with him most of the day. Her nephew, my second cousin (first cousin once removed?) is with him tonight, and as the only cousin with no job... I have volunteered to spend part of the day with him tomorrow. This makes me incredibly nervous, because, remember, he has dementia.
He really does not need to live alone. Dcousin has actually said she would let him come stay with her and her husband. Talk about not having that gift... there is no way under the sun that I would be willing to do that. Dcousin is not sure he actually would stay with her, and she and I talked about nursing home possibilities tonight -- but $$$ is a huge factor, and we do NOT think he would go willingly, much less sell all his possessions (house, cars, etc) to qualify for Medicaid. I told her, I believe we would have to have him declared incompetent to be able to forcibly have him put in a nursing home or assisted living.
OTOH, Dcousin has three adult sons who would be a huge help to her, as well, and her husband is in line for sainthood. These are also the people I've complained about ever since Covid, because that was when we (my dad's family) quit being invited to family events that they hosted and included duncle and his wife. So they have spent a lot more time with duncle than I have (and more time than they have spent with me.)
But she has done so much for duncle, that I feel like I should step up and try to help out a little, at least.
Prayed about it earlier, and I'm fairly calm -- if I have to go, I know the Lord is going with me. I'm clinging to the unseen Hand.
