Hi LadyM. It's sweet that ds16 & his girlfriend want to wear costumes & hand out candy this year. 

It's after dark & not one trick or treater has been here. We didn't get any last year -- in fact, I think we may be on year 2 or 3 with no kids stopping by. So many now do school related Trunk or Treat events. I'm sure they have as much fun as we did going door to door as kids. I still keep some candy in the house to give out just in case. Dh offered to pick some up last week when he was out & brought home peanut M n Ms. I told him I was hesitant to hand those out because of the very small chance a child might have peanut allergies. We ate the M's (anything for the kids, heehee) & the Kit Kats he bought to replace them will not go to waste around her either .

Spent some time on the attic this week & emptied out the closet up there! As I reached in & pulled things out I alternately swung my arms behind my back with my head still in the closet & dh took the items & put them on the table, which was a big help. At one point he told me to slow down because he couldn't keep up . Found things I forgot I had & sorted through most of the rest. Still have a bag of wreath forms & bags of P oly-F ill stuffing & batting to go through. Broke down several boxes that we had been keeping for shipping gifts to siblings. We get enough A ma zon boxes these days & don't need to save any extras. Was able to fill a garbage bag which felt satisfying. I'll finish sorting & putting things I'm saving back in this weekend.

Dinner is leftover Chicken Enchiladas, a favorite here. Hooray for easy dinners!   Dh & I are both sitting here in the office on our computers. After we turn the clocks back on Sunday I want to move meal times (especially dinner) to an earlier time.

I'm going to surf a little more before we eat. Neither one of us is hungry yet after a late lunch.

FINALLY, I have my internet back!!! It went out Tuesday night, and I called The Man. They said it would be back on line by 9:00 a.m. Wednesday. It was not. But I wasn't home much Wednesday, so I wasn't too concerned. I did call them again, and they sent a man out here today. He had to call for reinforcements and for most of the afternoon, 12-6, there have been two men out here -- climbing the pole at the road, taking thing apart here at the pole by the house and where it connects to the house... and they are supposed to come and bury the line from the road to the house, within the next two weeks. (I might add, they have promised to do this repeatedly in the past but it has never been done. I don't know if it is because they have to cross a natural gas line to do it, or what, but I don't really care if it's buried or not, as long as they get me back on line when it goes out.)

So today, I am exhausted just from the waiting on repairmen. DS and his father-in-law were here working on my freezer from around 10:30-11:30 this morning. They ended up disconnecting the ice maker, after I told them I really don't even need an ice maker. I very seldom use ice. I keep my drinks in the refrigerator. There is a mini storage center just down the road, and they sell ice for $1 for an 8 lb. bag, so I think that would certainly serve my purpose if I'm having a big group, like for Thanksgiving. I threw out all the mushy ice cream and popsicles, and ds's fil said to buy some more ice cream and see what happens now. Didn't have time to do that today, but will start the experiment tomorrow. Such a sacrifice... buying more ice cream...

After they left, I rushed to the post office to get the newspaper & mail, and almost immediately after I returned, the phone/internet man was here.
While he was here, my dmom showed up and wanted me to write out a couple of checks for her -- her tremor bothers her so much that she doesn't like to write checks anymore. Most of her bills are on auto-pay, but these were for her property taxes.
Later, DGS came and stayed with me while DDIL and dgd did the Trick or Treat thing. He and I went to McD's for supper. He ate two Big Macs and said on the way home that he didn't get enough to eat. SMH...
DGD came and pretty much emptied my candy supply. They are all gone now, and it very unlikely I will have any more treaters. I have the porch light on, but I think I will turn it off at 8:00. That's late enough on a school night in the rain, BTW. It started raining while the tech was here. Fortunately, he had a rain suit in his truck, but he certainly did drip a lot when he came in to check the modem.

I haven't even cuop yet. I'm sorry.

Duncle has been moved to the nursing home here in town, for 21 days rehab. My dmom predicts he will stay there. I don't think so, though. I think before it is all said and done, my girl cousin will try to talk him into moving in with her and her husband. I would not be able to do that At All... but maybe with her husband's help, and her sons, she will be able to manage. IF Duncle is willing to do that. He very well may balk at anything except returning to his own home, even though he really does not need to live alone.

LadyM, that is sweet for DS and his girlfriend to dress up and give out candy. (Much better than rolling yards, IMHO as a retired teacher whose yard used to be very attractive to teenage yard-rollers.)

Y'all, it was one year ago that dHarmony had her fall. I so wish we could hear an update from her. Sunny has not posted anything in quite a while. Have any of you seen anything on FB?

It's chilly here I have remembered I have two plush bath robes.
Wore the pink one last night to warm up after my low.
Tonight I have on the navy one over my clothes better to have it on because that it's longer than a sweater or jacket

I started the next hot pad crochet project got some rounds done on it.
My dsis is doing them up too she has some cousins home school kids wanting to do them up so they are learning to crochet.
Others at the sr. center where she is on the board have been learning to do them as well.
It's great to have some inside things to consider with the time change just days away.

Harriet, I just happened to be looking back at what I was doing last Halloween. Sometimes I do that, check a year ago, two years ago, whatever, I guess just to make myself sad? Anyway, that's when I saw the post from Sunny, telling us. Like you, I have sent cards, and haven't heard anything.

Glad to hear about your trick or treaters. DGD here was a cheerleader.

I wish there was a sort of red light we could press and it would send an alert to this board, so we'd know if someone was having an emergency panic attack. Me. I'm the someone. I can't call my mom for much help after 8:00 pm; she takes her night time medicine and once she goes to sleep, she's kinda worthless for conversation. That is probably not a good thing, but it's only at night, so it's a lot better than running out of Ativan too early and sleeping all day, right?
Anyway -- DDIL called me and she kinda talked me down. I'll put it in J&C.
