blessed, If there's a return address, especially a printed one that gives confidence, like a charity one, an old-ish one or one that matches the card, etc., it's probably a genuine person, but really consider that address - who do you know near there? If there is no return address, red flag. There are ways to look people up these days :) give it a try. Sometimes associated people are mentioned. Are they on facebook, etc. Actually, you might be doing yourself the favor of remembering someone nice. I will remind you, however, that you are good at remembering nice people. :)

Our excursion to get my shot today was an obstacle-filled difficulty. :( HRH dropped me off at usual entrance and drove off to park in the deck. Well, the doors wouldn't open! And when I got up close and peered inside, there was no one in there. Then, too late, I noticed that the only other car near the entrance was empty and there was no one anywhere on any part of the large entryway area. Well, it was freezing, and the tall buildings made a tunnel of wind. I went around the corner, thinking I knew where he would have headed to park, but even walking to that intersection, I decided I shouldn't go farther or I'd miss him somehow.

Finally, he appeared, and we walked in the direction of the other, similarly large, attached building, which a piece of typing paper :!: on the usual doorway directed to for weekends. Giving absolutely no help on which way to go.) That took time, but mostly it took walking. If we'd had any idea it was so far, we'd have driven. I got genuinely tired. We found a parking elevator that said it was to the other building. The buttons were confusing but he noticed what I didn't - there were two "3"s and sure enough, only one was more parking, the other an actual interior hallway. The Magic Portal! Whew.

The "just a quick" shot took an hour: half to get everything ready from refrigerator and warmed some, which they can't requisition until you arrive, and half to watch me in case I morphed into an alien or something, which I didn't.

Then on the way home, since HRH wanted to stop in at a store he had in mind, we encountered something new - a confusing, brand new cross-traffic pattern at a large intersection. It's not a completely unfamiliar way of channeling traffic, but rare here. But this one is only halfway opened so far. So, our unofficial "State Flower - the Orange and White Barrel" - was everywhere, "helping" keep cars from going the wrong ways while obscuring views of going the right ways. There must have been 1000 of them, and very hesitant drivers all 'round. HRH made the correct decisions through that, but then missed his chance at the next immediate lane to stop in at the store, so he became sullen, refused to turn around and try that again, and the rest of the ride home he felt sorry for himself. Sigh.

Oh well, back home and everyone in a better mood after a meal, including Tobias. We decided to make an order of groceries and thought of some interesting meals for when I change back to regular calories.

Blessed, at first I thought that was hilarious, that the people look “vaguely” familiar— because I could imagine myself totally forgetting someone… BUT — it could be something to keep your alerts on. I definitely would not meet at home, and after meeting at a very public place, I might even make a very confusing, complicated drive home, to make sure I wasn’t being followed!

(((((HARRIET))))) oh my goodness… what a terrible way to start an unpleasant part of the day! I’m glad you’re back home safe and sound.

Rose, keeping a book handy is a good idea, as well as turning tv to low volume. That’s what I do when I get ready to sleep — I have it just barely audible. I will try that.
Does anyone else have any tips? I explained my problem last night — just getting lost in endless scrolling online and literally, wasting HOURS of my day.

I looked up the address and it is a real person. The fact that they met my brother and he remembers that someone he didn't recognize was thrilled to see him. too funny. my bitrother is going to ask my uncle who they are. d harriet - it IS always wonderful to meet nice people.

dog gone it - dd's dog is jumping all 70 lbs of him at my window. deliveries are driving him and me crazy.

Taking a break…
Wrapped 15 presents
Addressed and wrote notes for 35 Cmas cards
Vacuumed my traffic area.

Too tired and unmotivated at the time to finish up my decorations maybe after I’ve rested a while

I napped and stamped a bit. Frustrating stamping session. I tried working with a stamp set that required stamping, then die cutting the stamped images and it was so hard to get it right. Ended up with extra glue on the face of the card - trying to glue down little greenery things. Took a lot of time but felt good to be a little more creative, but OTOH I'm not thinking that it looks like good, even if I can get the excess glue off.

Our supper is the pork chops I meant to make on Thursday evening, when dh went to a reception after work. Baked sweet potato and a green something. We certainly eat better when I cook but I hate it too.

My laptop is ready for pick up but I opted to go on Monday, not tomorrow. I think we're having rain, and it's at the mall area so I'd rather not tangle with it.

And, in news guaranteed to please, my article was selected by the National Genealogical Society as one of eleven to be utilized by study groups this year. There are study groups out there that read an article a month, answer questions, and discuss in a Zoom meeting. Typically they're looking at articles that demonstrate methodology that one can apply to their own work. Some chosen were published this year, some from prior years. So I'm on a little high about that.

Woo hoo, Twins! Congratulations!
BTW — did you notice my post about family— last post on Wednesday and it’s at the end of my very long post.
Dmom was puzzling over my dad’s tangled relations just yesterday. She has come across an old photo, where these people look “vaguely familiar” also! But she can’t identify them.

Twins' Mom that is awesome! Congratulations!!

I made the stew and then I made biscuits just in time for supper. They were a bit too hot when we first sat down.

Date squares are now in the freezer, other than the 3 corners that we ate. Mixing bowls all got washed before we sat down for supper while the biscuits got baked. There are 3 massive cookie tins full of frozen cookies in the freezer!!

Supper dishes are soaking in the sink.

I drove past a very large outlet mall earlier. I think there must have been a parking issue because there was a line up of cars on the off ramp going into the mall's parking lot.

I'm feeling very calm, as if I have Christmas under control. HA! Dh's gifts aren't wrapped yet. Neither are the gifts from Santa. (Yes, Santa is giving me at least one book... shh... )

Just outside of Nashville, there is a big mall, and at this time of year, there are usually cars lined up on the ramps off I-65. Then at Opry Mills, the mall that adjoins the parking lot at the Grand Ole Opry, same thing. I don’t know about the rest of the year, but the weekend before Christmas, and the tax-free weekend in August, at the beginning of the school year… it is AWFUL. And since Dh’s birthday was the first of August, invariably that was when we ended up there.

my article was selected
CONGRATULATIONS Twins! I am so thrilled for you!

My hometown school won the state high school football championship today. This is the first time ever. DNephew (DSis son) is the head coach. I'm not a football fan but it is impossible to not be thrilled for their success.

LucyLee - Use whatever method works for you to limit the addiction. It is so easy to mindlessly scroll and let time pass. BTDT. I frequently set a 2 minute timer before checking FB, snapchat and X. I know I have to be quick to see what is happening with family and friends before my time is up. Because I do it frequently every couple of hours so I don't resist limiting the time I spend each time. I don't look at those short videos (reels, shorts, tiktok, etc) made by people I don't personally know. The teens use snapchat so I do watch those quick videos because teens that I personally know create them. I try to keep my social media time below an hour a day. I have started using AI to summarize the news so i can get the top stories. Most of the time I prefer to read a paragraph summary instead of watching news videos. I haven't found a perfect sweet spot in managing online and screen time. It takes some effort to not give away my time to it. Good luck in finding what works for you!
