Tip of the Day Tuesday

Post by Nancy »

Today's tip : When making apts. for 2025 have calendar open out on the desk and ready to go!
My experience yesterday I had to open my calendar while the person waited. I did not have my
2025 year at a glance page in my undated planner yet.
I did get that in it after the call.

Next tip how to gamify decluttering & cleaning tasks.
I will be putting in the decluttering thread.

Today woke up frustrated from a dream I"d knit some thing too wide for a scarf to accommodate the pattern I
wanted to learn to make.

Got can to the curb and topped off with a section of leaves from the front yard by the front steps.
Before it was fully lite out.

I was up by 6:30 ish got that done around 7.

Got to go Rx reminder just went off.
Wrote in my journal about above things.

All things that I needed to do today have been done! Water has been delivered.

Dh was going outside and he yelled to me that he would be back in a bit. No problem. ... He got back more than an hour later and he had a jar of mincemeat in his hands. A local store had 3 jars left. The oven just beeped to let me know it's at the required temperature. Mincemeat tarts are on their way into the oven.

While dh was gone, I wrapped most of his Christmas gifts.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

I am experiencing low energy level today but am going to proceed as if I had my normal energy level. I am not sick, so I am going to go on facts instead of feelings.

Next up - get some food prepared. Protein, carbs, vegetables ready-to-eat stash replenished. I will take laptop to the kitchen and multitask by watching a show while chopping & cooking.
Stay curious. Challenge assumptions. Success loves persistence.

Update after breakfast (which is eaten at lunch time most days.)

[ ] Finish the Christmas Eve Church Service Bulletin
[ Done!] Clean humidifier in dgs3.5’s room
[ Done!] Finish Vacuuming the apartment
[ Done!] Wash the kitchen floor.
[ ] Clean the bathrooms
[ Done!] At least two loads of laundry Ended up doing 3
[ ] Errand: Take my jewelry to the jewelry for repair.
[ ] Errand (added today): Pick up dd’s present from store attached to a decent sized mall
[ ] Errand: (Added today) Shop at the same mall for presents and boots for me. Although the cheaply made A-river dress boots are working quite well, I’d prefer mid-calf height, not knee-high. These have been a blessing in that I needed boots for Sunday and they arrived Saturday night. Ds’s driveway is very icy and they had reasonable grip which is what I was looking for. (The better quality pair that arrived earlier in the week were not wide enough.)
[ ] Drop the unsuitable boots off for the A-river return.
[ ] DPC: Phone the clock repair guy about the clock in for repair
[ ] Book an adjustment appointment for my new orthotic. It took about 6 hours of wear before the same problem as before reared its head.
[ ] Book a doctor's appointment for my hips/knees. Time to get in the queue for x-rays, a referral to physio and/or onto a waiting list for surgery.
[ ] Write the words I'll be using on Advent 4 for the children’s time
[ ] Write my stuff for the December 29. I found the shared file of that service yesterday.

Dh has errands to do, roughly where mine are so we will head off together and he'll do some while I'm at the mall.

I might say this is a slow start day except I was at the massage therapist's at ten for body work, followed by dropping off glass for recycling, followed by walking the dog, followed by needing to change the time zone on my computer, followed by needing to download Zoom to my computer, followed by a short zoom with mentee, followed by trying to trouble shoot Remember the Milk for the date/time issue. Then CUOP here. I didn't get up until 8:15 but dh had already walked the dog, so I didn't feel bad leaving her unwalked this a.m.

My mentee, has, wisely decided she's not going to submit parts of her portfolio by 31 Dec and is doing some regrouping. I had expressed concerns and she needed to get there herself. So we'll meet again after the first of the year.

I'm setting alarm to start at the bottom of the hour, and work for 45 min for rest of a.m. routine, dailies and some general pupa.

Today:
-watch a genealogy webinar
-bring down labelmaker from upstairs to change batteries
-15 min clean up for upstairs
-fix up present for dh's assistant
-write notes and address Christmas cards

I’m at the gynecologist office, waiting to see what she thinks about this surprise bleeding. I pray she will just go back to former rx and be done with me. If not, I will probably be done with her!
Tomorrow is another day.

Worked 45 min. Still working on "breakfast" table and kitchen island. Did get a lot done, MBR and bath straightened up, some notes to self. Got garbage can and mail. Put away some unneeded Hanukkah things. Reset the clock that fell off the wall yesterday when the door to screened porch closed. No reason to put it up until I know it's working okay.

RR, you're wise to stop additional decorating. Might want to even start putting it away on the 26th to give yourself some peace of mind.

None of these done, and more:
-watch a genealogy webinar
-bring down labelmaker from upstairs to change batteries, also bring some file folders
-15 min clean up for upstairs
-fix up present for dh's assistant
-write notes and address Christmas cards
-put clock up, if it's working
-put away the things on the steps and DR table
-water inside plants

Oops, I better eat lunch before I get started again...

I was a little sad today - I know it's all about things I can't control. heart dr. asked if she was living with me our if she will bc it would be good for her. I just worry if I got sick - what would we do if she wasn't living in her building or her dementia pop ups become Full blown Alzheimers.

mom was busy here - washed out the sink, emptied the containers from her fridge (that I brought here), cleaned the sink better than I could do!, she had her meds late bc of me, had lunch. now she is taking a short rest in front of the tv.

going to the dining room to wash the table - wrap presents
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Sigh. HRH's dear siblings and (completely separate) a couple of my dcousins are rivaling each other today for irritation/misunderstanding, and it's infiltrating our house. I don't have the bandwidth or throat tolerance to express myself. I have the feeling I could calm much down - no reason to get so upset, people. HRH's siblings discuss too little, then get upset at the misunderstanding. These particular cousins of mine do discuss enough but still irritate each other eventually. I wonder, if I had siblings, whether we could get along. Interesting. I know my children struggle with it sometimes.

A dcousin of mine dropped by to the porch to pick up something we had for him. I did greet him myself, just because of the novelty of seeing me looking so much more like our mutual aunt, lol. I realized how pleased I am to be able to wear the top I recently mended - a good choice for porch visits since it's thick and quite red for the season, and I got it done in time for the chill in the air.

The last present is ordered, and HRH did that alone through WMart arriving tomorrow- much appreciated. It is from him, and he had the plan, so yay for that. I will hand him a bag when it comes.

LadyM, your schedule of gift purchasing is much more in line with what I'm used to than you know. I have been nudged into earlier preparations over the last few years because of the increasing Wonder Woman efficiency of my ddil and dd44. They are busier each year and I know they have to schedule themselves so tightly. Dcousin said today he needs to hire dd44 to manage his household. I said I don't think she ever sits down. Btw, I hope your energy level surprises you with rebound.

blessed, you are cushioning and solving and generally being a wonderful asset to your family. What a spiffy sink you have.

For some reason, I had a burst of energy and cleaned both toilets. No explanation why this seemed important ahead of schedule. Getting ahead of some housekeeping for a rainy day I guess.
