I am going through my day one hour at a time. If I try to look too far beyond the hour then I get overwhelmed.
So far today -
** DD13 delivered to LAST DAY OF SCHOOL for 2024. She has her last 3 semester test this morning and gets out of school at 12;05
** DS16 feed breakfast, chatted and launched to work. He had called 3 times this morning to discuss various concerns.
** Took picture of water on road across the street from us. I suspect this is a water main leak. Send the picture to the city clerk for her to notify the water guys.
** Christmas Cards. I got the tub of cards out of storage and enjoyed spending a few minutes looking at the stacks of cards we received over the years. I set up station with a writing area to address new cards, got the return address stickers ready, pulled out half a dozen boxes of new Christmas cards (purchased after Christmas sale). But then I stalled. I found myself not wanting to spend any more time on Christmas cards. I consulted DH and we made joint decisions. We are done with sending Christmas cards. It doesn't seem meaningful and worth the time and effort. We prefer talking with the people instead of sending cards. So I gathered all the unopened boxes of new Christmas cards and put them in a sack to donate at favorite charity store this afternoon.
** Tag Agency to purchase yearly tag for one of the vehicles.
** Grocery store - restock pantry items that I can't get at sams. Items put away.
** Made lunch - Baked potato and sweet teriyaki chicken
Next up - go pick up DD13 from school for the LAST TIME THIS YEAR and turn all the school alarms off!

Walked after I tried the dev. egg I made up.
Warming up now.
41* out and brisk but not unbearable,
Morning stuff mostly done,
I need to do a bit of cleaning.

Nancy, you remind me to say our family also getting together Sunday in the afternoon. Just documenting here my hope (maybe - not a panic if it doesn't happen) of a calendar event. I'm sorry yours also feels iffy. Sunrise sounded lovely.
Twins' I had noticed elsewhere in blessed's postings that she toasts a new day. I think that's cool, too. And I'm happy your pharmacy delays seem to be resolving.
Kathryn reminds me that cheerful movies can be healthy for us.
Btw, on the irritating new subject popping up lately, of whether "Die Hard" and some other harsh or violent movies are Christmas movies because their events occur during certain dates, the answer is "nonsense" from me, whether you ask the usual me or the current no-nonsense me. Every screenplay probably has a calendar in it. Those who ask this question should be ready to answer about the plot, characters and message of Capra's "It's a Wonderful Life" and if they cannot add value to that discussion, waved off with a wide flourish of the hand. Ahem.
Fielded one phone call to solidify plans for an appt.
My breakfast had been an egg-white muffin with veggies in it (storebought) and toast. Since then, I've had a dry (store) cookie, like a shortbread I guess, and that was a good taste. Coffee is not my taste buds' friend, I've noticed. I need to just put that on the shelf for the duration unless I intend to brush my teeth after each cup. It seems to transform into the new taste in my whole self somehow. HRH says he believes my strange night was my body's way of clearing itself of what it doesn't like, and that sounds more optimistic.

hello again - mom and I went to the gastro person - she needs a blood test tomorrow but hopefully she won't have to see them for a year.
She has had a lot of big feelings about her age, which has never had before, and about having people at her house. I can understand it!
the cleaning angels are just that: ANGELS and MIRACLE WORKERS.
the freezer is in
waving hello to everyone - I have a few things to settle before I come back and say hi! but hello!!!

glad to come back!
hello d harriet! praying that your gathering will be able to take place!
I agree that Diehard is not a Christmas movie!
I will take "it's a wonderful life" message. I also think after I heard that Jimmy Stewart's tears (that were not supposed to be in there) at the bridge were bc of his PTSD after the war - such a pure and sad moment was powerful. The fact it was set during Christmas also made it powerful for me bc we all come to hardships and sadness and that hope and faith is always around the corner.
My dh said his taste changed during the chemo and it went back about 6 months later.
I am sure your dh is right about your body clearing itself out.
hi d Nancy hello sorry you are feeling not as good as you should! I hope you feel better fast!!!
hi d lady I am starting my day at one hour at a time into the evening.
hope your family loves this Christmas break! enjoy!
I totally agree about the christmas cards - I am just doing cousins and immediate family. my mom calls friends and friends instead of sending christmas cards.
hi d cathy enjoy your pork chops!
hi d Kathryn I am sorry you couldn't go to your dd's . hope your car charges up soon
the bathrooms look spiffy!
hi d twins you are very sweet! I am grateful for you and everyone here! such a joy!
I think when the brain knows when there is a lot on our minds to do and it tries to trick us to think everything has to be done - NOW- so false!!! .
When the brain makes you think everything is important, it's often a result of heightened anxiety, stress, or a state of hypervigilance, where the brain is constantly scanning for potential threats and assigning significance to even minor details due to an overactive "fight or flight" response. I think this is true... I keep thinking what is a realistic need. Most aren't important.
I am hitting a tired spot and I full (I had Panera - it was too much and too heavy). making food is easier on me and I stay feeling healthy.
time to close my eyes for a moment? I shall see.

I had a bit of chocolate left over and a bit of the red cherries, and half a pound of unsalted butter, so I made a chocolate cherry Scottish shortbread which is still in the oven.

I'm coming back through. I sure do feel great with the sun out today. Temp is around fifty. It would be nice to get the dead plants out of the planters in front but need to continue with errands.
I wouldn't have said that issues were resolving re: the medication, Harriet. It continues to show as backordered at CVS, although when I went there, they "had just received an order." The pharmacist said if I'd wait "20 minutes" she would fill it then, but I made her solemnly promise that it would there when I came back. Which I need to do soon.
Errands went flawlessly, but I decided not to go to post office because, when checking email, dd's Hanukkah gift was delivered. So I need to repackage it and mail, and when I do I'll get HOA mail.
Right now: repackage dd's gift and get ready to mail and then head out to post office and drugstore in different directions.
UGH. Forgot to hit submit earlier but ya'll won't believe this. Now I have to go back to the insurance co for authorization they say. So I'm on hold with insurance now.

1 hour of driving and 2 hour of shopping later..... We are home from sams trip. Everything is unloaded and 99% put away. We are well stocked with food but I still am not making much progress on Christmas gifts. I do have a few small items so everyone will have something to unwrap. I'm not going to worry about it. If no one needs or wants anything it should be a reason to be happy instead of stressing because there is not anything additional to purchase.
DD48 asked DD13 if she wanted to come spend Christmas break with her. Their plan is for DD48 to pick DD13 up this evening. I will be surprised if DD13 stays the entire Christmas break. If history repeats itself, DD48 will drop DD13 off here after a couple of days with no explanation. We will see how it plays out.

Need to apologize for all my venting. This afternoon was rough, getting through to insurance and getting answers. I'm so deflated after dealing with them. Dh's p.m. dinner was cancelled so we went out to eat.
Tomorrow is another day, Scarlett. Dcleaning lady will be here in the morning, so I'll need to hit it early to be ready for her.
