Morning all. Kittykat that was me with the shopping for dad. And myself at the same time. Usually dad is good about a specific list. Atm he's not the only one cooking in his house. I bought what we used up. He can give me a specific list later. E is going in to make them breakfast this morning and I will see if he wants my chili for supper. There's still lots of leftover stuff there. And perogies in the freezer.
I don't want to buy what won't get used.
Frenchie sounds like a busy stressful week again. Pizza for company is perfect. Easy. Enjoy. Yes it usually does end up with a clean house for a bit.
Saturday. Both off. Hopefully a relaxing but productive day? I know I should go check on dad later. Dh wants to wash the super dirty car. I really need to get going on the paint project. And some whb stuff.
I have to go find my big list again. Projects and detail cleaning. Unless I can find that spot here that has a detail cleaning list. Zone cleaning?? Should be somewhere here. Or I'll just have to remake it. Maybe I can get dh opinion and help I kinda want to put up my shelves that dad made that I took down from ds26 room in the living room now. Just exactly where and he can help do it?
Oh and somewhere along the line see my little grandson again? It's those kids 1 yr anniversary tomorrow. And dgs was 1 month old yesterday. Already. And I've been so busy with his great grandparents I have not seen him enough..π©΅

And some me time? . ? Just maybe? ?

L.Ann have a good walk with your DSis !
kittykatt, you have me wondering what sea shanties are. It should be a good afternoon for gardening. MrNG said we had to sow peas today, the soil is ready and he put a metallic grid vertically for the peas to climb on. I love to sow peas and beans.
trissie I hope your Dh and his team are really cautious about the trip to the US project; Times have changed indeed. And of course I hope for you that this trip, if it happens at all, is as short as possible and as easy for you as possible. When was the last such trip ? Two years ago wasn't it? At least the children have grown a bit since then.
lauralind I hope today is relaxing for all of you. Awww 1 month already ? I hope you can see your DGS during the weekend.
MrNG went to buy sailing shoes for, and with, DS9. He will drive him to his schoolfriend A--'s house later, then back here for some clearing and a bit of food prep. I have done some cleaning before lunch.

fixing glasses with a paperclip, you sure you're not an engineer,
kittykatt?
L.Ann, have fun at the game!
laurlind, DS and his family sure have enough to celebrate!
Frenchie, yes, it's been two years since DH's last US trip. But he did some European since - though that's usually just a week. I am never ever agreeing to anything like his 5 week US roadtrip back in 2022, but a week or two are pretty easy to handle nowadays as the kids are indeed getting bigger and more self-sufficient.
Off to the garden go I!

Thank you Gma! Those are good things to think about. I have prioritized (1) obtaining a bed and chest of drawers for her room (the bare minimum) and (2) transportation. Yesterday, I spoke to the director of social work at her current NH, and he also said that transportation is the first thing to figure out. Great! However, he also said Mom's care team is thinking of my coming and getting her and driving her myself as they don't know of any non-emergency medical transport companies. What?! They are proposing more PT for Mom to strengthen her core so she can sit in a car for 6 hours. . . I do not feel comfortable doing that by myself and told him that. Not so great.
Dh thinks they're clueless and that I should find a transport company myself. I had already found one online after a 15 second google search. I told the director about it, and he wrote down the name of the company. I plan to go down and pack up her things myself (not much in the nursing home) and pick up some art and side tables from her house. I'm thinking that I would drive the route home the same time that she travels and we would arrive about the same time. Yesterday, I also connected with the nursing home here; the director sent me a list of items Mom would need.
Kitty, did you get out for a walk and to work in your garden? And were you able to replace the screw in your glasses? I actually find your dh's musical/ performance hobbies very interesting! Is he going to sing sea shanties? Or listen to someone else sing? Or both? All day??
Enjoy your houseguests, FFB! I had to look up capirinhas! And your dessert sounds fabulous.
trissie, that's a long trip for your dh. Yes, it's quite possible he and his equipment wouldn't be allowed into the country in the current state of things.
Who knows?
Enjoy breakfast with your sister, L Ann.
Aw, laurlind, I hope you get to visit your grandson today! And get some me-time.
As I wrote in my mini-novel to Gma above, yesterday I made a little more progress figuring out things for my mom's move. The list from the local NH is very helpful. However, I'm not sure the social worker at the current facility is so helpful. I don't think he has ever done this sort of thing. Dh thinks my progress on that front is realizing that I should order the hospital bed and arrange transportation myself. . . The social worker wanted to arrange transportation before ordering a hospital bed. But what if it takes 2 weeks for the bed to arrive and the transportation is arranged in 1 week? We're already paying rent so the bed can be acquired whenever, as far as I understand things.
Dh thinks we should just order the bed ourselves and pay for it all out of pocket. I can confirm with the trustee if I can use Mom's funds for that. Worst comes to worst, dh and I can just buy the bed ourselves.
Last night was really lovely! Dh made reservations at a favorite Asian fusion restaurant. The food was yummy! We know the owner, so he gave us free desserts. Then, we went to the girls' place to watch the newest Matilda film, based on the musical. I had seen it before, but it was fun to watch again together. Dd29's rats were out so two of them came by to say "hi" to dh and me a few times. The 3rd is more skittish. Fable was spayed on Wednesday, so dd26 kept her quiet. She was quite good. She even seemed to be watching the movie at some points. LOL!
Today: CG1 is not happening bc of spring break for the kids, so I have a very rare Saturday with NOTHING ON THE CALENDAR!!
Woohoo!! I hope to get caught up on some things. A personal 5K run would be first. I woke up too late for the weekly public one.

Trissie, where would your husband be going in n the US? I just read an article in our local paper about a US citizen being handcuffed and her German fiance, here legally on a tourist visa, being detained for more than 2 weeks, before being allowed to fly home. Other examples of mistreatment were given. This couple apparently had left the US, gone to Mexico. The episode occurred at their return. Everything is chaotic and unpredictable in my country now. I have turned off TV and radio news about Washington DC and politics for the 6 weeks of Lent, and will catch up after Easter.
When I read things like that, I wonder who is safe. I suppose your dh would come through NYC? And his work would arrange for his visa? It's a scary time over here, and I'm happy not to be involved in any government employment, or anything international.
Ddog work me up 2x during the night. She had a big eating day yesterday. She goes in spurts with eating. I washed my bedding yesterday, so slept in clean sheets last night.
Now it's time to get out of bed and bake some orange raisin scones for breakfast, then have a few errands.
Mother wants to shop today. (Again, it's her main hobby. She constantly says how she is bored and hates the NH. ) Yesterday she reported that it was so horrible that someone would even steal her bar of bath soap. She had a brand new bar for her last bath, and the only one in her room was an old sliver. I reported this horrible crime to the aides and suggested that someone check the bathing/ tub room, and for sure, there it was! It hadn't been brought back to her room after her bath.
Helian, the anxiety that comes with the stress can be an inhibition to getting things accomplished. I hope my thoughts could reduce some of that. Medicare should pay for her bed, starting with monthly rental, until the purchase price is met. The medical supply place where you order it should be able to help with the paperwork. Generally, you can get a bed within a day or two, at least here. They will need a DRs order and a diagnosis. With my skills, I would consider transporting, but I would also want a second person with, because I would want to leave her in the car alone while I went in to the bathroom, got food, etc. NO, she doesn't need to stay at current NH for PT to prepare for transfer! But some, until that time, would be good and paid for by Medicare [Color]

gma, depending on the order of meetings, he would be coming either through New York or through Seattle (they tend to hop all over the USA and generally start on one coast and leave from the other). Or by car if they're coming from Toronto, they did that once too

He didn't need a visa in the past, as attending meetings and consulting business partners is allowed with just an ESTA, but yeah, if somebody wanted to create an issue out of it... there certainly would be ways.
helian, I think just getting the bed first thing is a good idea! Are they very expensive?
