Whewiee we have a cold front swooping in right now! As in, snow 2 counties over and us dipping in the 30s I'm so glad I didn't put my little seedlings out! However, I'm about to head to my DS's for 2 weeks for the new baby I think my temporary solution will be to place them in the tower garden until I get back and transfer them to outside.

My seedlings that came up are:
Red & Green cabbages
Broccoli
Cauliflower
Lettuces
Rainbow chard
Peppermint
Lemon balm
Parsley
Echinacea
Acorn squash or cantaloupe (a snafu on my part )
Watermelon
Peppers
Tomatoes

Outside, I discovered volunteer peppers Hopefully they make it through the cold snap

I'm still trying to learn this 2 growing seasons business of Texas. So a lot of this is so experimental
The outside blackberries and mulberries have budded out nicely.
Last year, spider mites wiped out 6 of my fruit trees and I'm battling them on the citrus trees that I brought inside

On the tower garden, I still have 4 peppers - purple, cayenne, jalapeños and peppermint and red cabbage.

Traditionally people in southern Ontario (where we live) don't plant anything before the 3rd weekend of May. We have all the veg in the raised beds s well as strawberries and rhubarb. The blackberries and raspberries and grapes (we live in wine country, but we don't know if these are table grapes or not. The birds usually get 99% of these) are in the ground on the west side of the property.

I am in SE Wa. state zone 6 or 7
I have done 20 min in the garden clean up of some stuff I did on the dead heading yesterday.
Found some bulbs to move to close to the fence.
Also moved a rose bush to a better spot.

Dang just remembered that I have a dead rose bush to dig out and did not do that.
Some wind just blew clouds in and rain may delay that task.

Happening in the raised bed garden -
Bed #1 = Mustard greens blooms are almost head high tall. Swiss chard is growing and looks so colorful. Mums and other flower plants have lots of greenery but no flowers yet
Bed #2 = Tomato plants are a couple feet tall and wide. They are full of blooms and a few green tomatoes. Multiple flowers and herbs are growing well. Onions and garlic line the outside edges of the garden bed.
Bed #3 - Ditto bed #2. The two beds are almost mirror images with just having different varieties of tomatoes.
Bed #4 - Mustard greens are shoulder height and about 3' in width. Peppers and tomato plants are doing well. Multiple flowers and herbs are planted in between the vegetables. Onions and garlic line the outside of the raised bed.
Bed #5 - Tomato and pepper plants were late to get planted and they show in how much smaller they are than the other raised beds. Flowers and herbs are planted between the vegetables. An asparagus plant came up a couple years ago in the far corner of this bed and I allowed it to grow. Now it is over head-high and the most prolific asparagus plant in the garden.
Bed #6 = Asparagus and strawberries are doing well planted together.
Bed #7 - pepper plants are doing okay but are slow to get started. We need heat for them to take off. Zinnas are not reseeding themselves from last year. I might have put too much compost on top of the seeds.
Bed #8 - Tomatillos and pepper plants look good and are covered in blooms. Flowers and herbs are planted in between.
Bed #9 - Compost collection spot. There are several flowers I plopped on top that I didn't expect to survist but they are growing like crazy. I'm not sure how they will handle being on compost when the heat arrives.
Bed #10 - Strawberries! Oh my. They are huge and doing so well this year. I am harvesting about a dozen strawberries a day.
Bed #11 = Potatoe plants are 2' tall and blooming, garlic and onions are growing well.

I have been weeding a bit when I go out each day.
Every little bit helps.

Did two iris beds today in back.
Two more fence sections in front making progress now yea!

I've heard you can start tom. plants from cuttings
and today ta daa mine has roots starting!

I have weeded an iris bed one side of it.

Iris is the only thing I can get to grow next to the house on the south side.
So I'll be thinning out other iris beds and moving some there.
Dd may be helping with that as she wants to learn to garden.
