That does sound like a lovely baby shower, Nancy. A sweet, surprise reveal without being loud or shocking. Lots of memorable gifting. Congratulations on the upcoming arrival!
Kittykatt, I enjoyed all that info on historic dollhouse furniture companies. Such a sweet kitchen vignette. Great stove, so intricate, isn't it? Much more detailed pieces than you would think.
Gma, you and Kittykatt both have found times to be creative while interrupted. I hope your dmother is feeling better.

What a fun craft for a baby shower Nancy, and a fun gender reveal that didn't include anything exploding or burning or balloons released.
I have a need for a "Speedy recovery" card and will probably take a card that I had started and left, and repurpose it with a sentiment. A friend - from the time our kids were growing up together, and a member of my DAR chapter now - had a hip replacement and it would be nice to send a card. We feel apart as our kids got older - they went to different elementary schools.
For now, my focus is kind of back to genealogy....

Interesting, Harriet, because water coloring is also big in stamping. One can use colored pencils, with or without a water painter wash to soften, or use stamping ink to paint, or use markers of course to color.that watercolor seems to be tops for painting
For now, my focus is kind of back to genealogy....

It's bedtime here, but i think I need 15 minutes with my crochet hook, to unwind from a busy day.

I finished up a dish cloth to make a set of two in greenish hues.
Bonus good news found a full size sheet set on clearance for $7.00
I need the flat sheet for a new back on a quilt my granny made for me.
Okay after opening the package that will not work. But might be good for curtains,
lining or a slip, camisole, even stuff bags! Oh well.

Re: Art, Craft and Needlework, April, 2025
Thank you for your kind words, Harriet. The kitchen of my dolls house is mostly designed round the cooker, as when I saw it I fell in love with it! That's when I really started delving into the history of everything, and finding out about the various companies. (There are, if course, several more companies, but so far I don't have anything made by them, AFAIK.)
Yesterday evening, I had what I think may be a bit of a brainwave concerning the second bedroom. It's smaller and and a difficult shape, as there are two sets of stairs - one coming.from the downstairs, and the other going up to the roof. So there's quite a bit of unusable space. I had originally furnished it as a bedroom /nursery, but it was *very* overcrowded, and was starting on to look like a second hand furniture shop. Also, and although a dolls house is, of course, imaginary, no one in their right mind in the "real world" would have a bedroom for small children.woth two sets of stairs and access to the roof!
But then I had the idea of maybe turning it into a music room instead, (I got the inspiration for a music room from the "Lucia" books by EF Benson - I don't know if anyone has read them) with the grand piano in very good condition I picked up some time ago, as the centre piece. So, I've re done the floor using the parquet sheet left over from downstairs, and so far have just arranged the piano with its little stool, a fire, a rug, and the little chair that came with the house. The chair was in pretty bad shape, as someone had thought it would be a good idea to cover it with a thick layer of pink gloss paint.
I've stripped that off and sanded as best as I can, and now I'm in the process of giving it several coats.of wood stain. Then I'll wax it, to hopefully give it a "polished" look. I have a couple of little cushions left over from furnishing the sitting room downstairs, so that should help tie the two rooms together.
